Yes, Senator Bernie Sanders read the sign out front. He was not entering a gym. He was visiting the Muhammad Ali Center while in Louisville for a campaign rally.

Look more closely. No, that's not a hula-hoop on the floor. One of the most popular exhibits at the Muhammad Ali Center is designed to be interactive. Visitors are encouraged to stand in that yellow spot and enjoy themselves taking a swing at the speed bag. If the museum quantified that action as being dangerous and requiring practice first they wouldn't invite people of all ages to step into that little ring.

The video clip was not recorded by a hired camera crew. Rarely ever will a professional cameraman shoot in portrait mode on a smartphone, but it's extremely common for people to record while holding their phones vertically.

Why didn't you make any effort to learn about the context of the video before creating a thread to discuss it? It would have consumed significantly less of your time than what you put into writing false assumptions about it.

It's hilarious.

It's good that he can roll with those punches, including when he got sucker-punched by Hillary's camp when he was running for president previously.

I did check the section this is in, on account of if this was in Kitchen Sink or some other area that's for sure what I'd think you were doing. I'm asking this to you straight on account of how I honestly don't know. You posted a doctored video, then yammered on & on about how it was filmed in a gym. It never crossed my mind whether it was a gym or not. it was Bernie and a punching bag. The hilarity of it was ROFL funny.

The video is what it is.

Bernie campaigned against Hillary for the Democratic spot in 2016. Hillary and the DNC threw him under the bus, so to speak.

I'm sure if he knew it would make Senator Sanders smile that he was able to provide you with so much joyful laughter, since humor was the entire point of his jocular actions captured in the video. The interactive exhibit at the Muhammad Ali Center was meant for precisely such enjoyment as what we see. The edited video clip in the OP makes that even more abundantly obvious since it focuses on his hilariously theatrical reactions. He quite evidently wasn't hurt since his glasses weren't even moved askew, and his expression is that of pure delight. You're definitely right that it was hilarious! Laughter is nourishing for the spirit!

I think this whole jumping through hoops is cringe and pretentious but a necessary initiation rite to the circus pit. It is something that American politicians have to do to appeal to registered voters by implying they are hip, or fit, or relatable to the common peoplekind. America is funny like that. Sanders and Trump are walking memes, and Warren is certainly up there with her drinking beer like a boss and thanking her husband for returning home -- and let us not forget that DNA test debacle.
Personally, I think the last thing the world needs is another baby boomer running the show. Perhaps a Gen X would be a welcome change? *cough* Tulsi

ITT: Democrats laugh with Sanders, Republicans laugh at Sanders - two very different forms of humour, and if you ask me, the video is quite nasty towards Sanders, yet this says nothing about Sanders and more about those that laugh at him.
