I want the things of this world but I also want to walk with Christ, I wish I didn’t want the things of this world more then god but I do and I don’t know what to do, my mind tells me to just stop pursuing god because I’ll never get to that place of loving god more then material thing.

I’ve prayed but I don’t know what to do anymore

God is better that all those things! I'm repenting of my stupidity (materialism).

Everything under the heavens belongs to God. It is through His grace that your needs are met. Devoting your life to material pursuits is a hollow way to live. The craving will never be sated and the emptiness will blossom over time.

I encourage you to check out Crown Ministries. They provide biblically based financial education and emphasize biblical stewardship. The founder trained Dave Ramsey and its a great program. I went through it and I worked in finance. You’ll gain a better perspective about money and its usefulness for Kingdom work.

You cannot serve two Masters; you cannot love both God and the world. 1 John 2:15-17 "15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."

Are the things of the world worth it to pursue with God's verdict taken into account? Why would you choose not to renounce the darkness and corruption that is inherently involved in loving the world? What shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his soul? Is Christ not your rightful Lord and did He not labor intensely and suffer unspeakably to redeem you and to make you His own? Understand that you have to renounce pursuing the lusts of the world and all sin so you can truly be God's servant, live by faith, and have an interest in Christ. This is logical, reasonable, and the only way to be righteous before God. It is a choice that you must make- and the more you inform yourself from God's Word the more obvious this choice should be in favor of the Lord. Acknowledge the conflict for what it is and don't think it has ceased until you have embraced death to sin with Christ and taken up your cross in denial of self to follow Him as His disciple. When God accepts your repentance and faith He'll bear witness of that to you by His Holy Spirit (Romans 8:16) and lead you into further Truth and exhortation as you seek Him in His Word. Be faithful unto death in following the Word of God- and Christ will then be with you. Don't give up seeking Him- on His terms. He is the Lord and we'll bow before Him and give an account of how we have cooperated or not with the grace that He offers us. Appreciate it appropriately and THEN it should not seem hard to love Him over material things and to suffer for His name's sake.

Hebrews 5:7-9 "Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him"

Romans 8:17 "And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together."

Revelation 21:5-8 "And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

Balance ... it's about balance. It's ok to have things .... it's also ok to be prosperous ... be kind, help others, promote the good news of Jesus, be charitable. Try to stay out of debt. Thank the Lord for all He has given you.

BALANCE ;o)

Continue your relationship with the Lord no matter what.

This is all about your priorities, is having a new car every few years or a fancy holiday to the states or europe every year etc etc

How hard do you have to work to get what you desire, every working hour in the week or is your hourly rate of pay hundreds of $ an hour.

Do you have kids, or are going to have them.
What is priceless are your memories of time spent with them and of their memories of time spent with Dad.
They don't care about being better than the neighbour if they are kicking a football with Dad after school, camping, swiming, boating, repairing bikes, cars with Dad.

Money does not make one happy, all is does is let you be sad in comfort.

Build your buisness, but close on Sunday, all day and every Sunday. Close the buisness, mobile phone, mobile email, voicemail everything is off and the office is locked closed as is your briefcase.
Sunday is when you go to church.

When a wife and kids arrive you pack up in the evening so yoiu can spend time with them.

Not earning enough, adjust your budget to live within your means.

I recommend you study the concept of sanctification.

When I was young, I desperately needed to understand this concept and I didn't. My sense of unworthiness and my impatience with God led me to look for comfort in the world. The results were pretty awful.

The whole story would peel the paint off the walls if I told it to you. And it was largely because I didn't understand sanctification and I was too arrogant and impatient to learn it.

I pray you will be wiser than I was.

Are you part of a Church? What does your pastor have to say about this? Can you talk with an elder about it at church? Sanctification is a major part of the Christian faith and something that is gradual over time. Hoping for a magic prayer that will suddenly take your desires away isn't going to help. It requires a work of God in your heart and effort on your part. You need to search your heart, examine yourself and focus on the most glaring problems first.

The words of institution of the Lord's Supper are instructive. 1 Cor. 23-29 teaches believers to examine themselves that they may be worthy to partake in the Lord's body and blood. This does not in any wise demand absolute perfection but it does require that we examine ourselves to see if we are on the right path towards Godly living. It sounds to me like you're being choked up by the cares of this world and need to be more diligent in working on these matters.
