• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I suffer from ocd. I started praying to the Generic God who is different than Christian God due to ocd. I repeat my prayers again and again and again. I pray everywhere. I cant stop it. I am so anxious. I get so tired that I slap my head hard. I cant stop it. I prayed more than 75 times. I think. can you pray for me? I am so worried. my ocd is getting worse. I repeat prayers in my head again and again. I cant get rest. it is like a prayer per 10 seconds almost. same words.

BTW, it is strictly YOUR choice to slap yourself. You may feel an impulse to do ANYTHING through any number of pressures. But, no one except YOU, yourself, chooses to go ahead and do it.

You should be able to EASILY break your own jaw with one hit...… BUT, have you noticed that you, yourself, regulate the amount of force you really do hit yourself with? Face it, you are using a phony excuse if you are only hitting yourself "just so hard."

I am so sorry you are experiencing this. I, too, struggle with OCD, and I understand how difficult and frustrating it can be. Remember that there is one true God, and He loves you more than you can imagine.

Have you talked with anyone about this? Would you consider calling 855-382-5433? They can set you up a free appointment with a licensed counselor.

This number appears to be from Focus on the Family. Should be helpful. :)

One of my friends has this OCD that causes her to pull all her hair out. It's really painful & it's super hard bc people don't understand that it's a compulsion not a choice!!!! I'll DEFINITELY pray for you!!!!!
That is so tough!!!!! I'm so sorry. God loves you, please remember that.

Repeating prayers is a compulsion. If you want to start getting out of the OCD cycle, you have to work on stopping your compulsions, or doing whatever it is that OCD is "forcing" you to do. You have to start saying no to it. If that's too hard for you to work on by yourself, get professional help. Medication, or therapy, or both. These are hard steps to take, but it's very worth it. It is ESSENTIAL that we start working on our OCD if we want to experience relief from it. I'm watching this helpful video from Dr. Reid Wilson now. I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but what I've watched so far is good:

You are important, and your life is worth living fully. Please get the help you need.
