God is the Creator of all things. He loves everything He created, according to Genesis 1. But God hates Satan and demons and does not want anyone to live in the lake of fire that He created. I don't get it. My mom said a loving God would not create hell because He does not want people to suffer eternally, so she does not believe it exists. Why isn't this true?

In the VERY end ... God will destroy all the wicked etc (including satan and his minions) by fire and burn up the earth with it .... totally destroying sin for eternity.

The saved are in heaven and do not experience this destruction and they will inherit a new perfect earth with no sin, no death, no sorrow and God will live with His people here on the new earth & heavens He creates.

Our loving God does not torture people for eternity! Your mom is correct.

The bodies of the wicked become carcasses -not ashes...on the new earth.
their -worm dieth not
Because of this undying worm -the others in flesh will have to go out and be
abhorred when they must look at them in the lake of fire.

The bodies of the wicked become carcasses at the return of Jesus .... after the 1,000 years spent in heaven the GWTJ takes place and everything is destroyed by eternal fire.

Malachi 4:3

And you shall tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I act, says the Lord of hosts.

If there isn't a hell, then everyone will go to heaven, which makes void the cross of Christ.

Hell is the display of good subduing and finally defeating evil. It glorifies his goodness, proves his holiness, and exalts his power. But most of all, it gives to his people a greater impression of his love for them.

God created hell for those he hates, and heaven for those he loves.

How perfect, just, and wise is God? 100 percent. Does the Bible teach the eternal damnation of torture of the wicked? It absolutely does (Isaiah 66:24, Daniel 12:3, Mark 9:43-48, Luke 12:4-5, Revelation 21:8, etc, etc). That then is the perfectly wise God's verdict of how evil and deserving of His wrath rebellion, transgression, and unbelief against Him are. And woe to the one who contends with the wisdom of their Creator! Simply denying His verdict about these things and trying to make him more palatable man will alone put one into the category of those whom an eternal hell is appropriate for.

Those who go to hell are guilty of the greatest transgression and there will also be many, many, many degrees of torment based on many factors- Hitler will sure get a greater punishment than the old lady down the street who mostly kept to herself and didn't profane God's name by a hypocritical profession of Christianity, but also did not seek God diligently. The Judge of all the earth shall do right; and everything He has done and will ever do is right and will be proven right when He lays out all the evidence on the Day of Judgment.

Romans 1:18-21 "18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened."

Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
…..According to three irrefutable Jewish sources; the Jewish Encyclopedia, Encyclopedia Judaica and the Talmud, quoted below, among the Jews in Israel before and during the time of Jesus there was a belief in a place of everlasting torment of the wicked and they called it both sheol and gehinnom.
…..Clarification: There were different groups within Judaism; Sadducees, Pharisees, Essenes etc. and there were different beliefs about resurrection, hell etc. That there were other beliefs does not rebut, refute, change or disprove anything in this post.

Jewish Encyclopedia, Gehenna
The place where children were sacrificed to the god Moloch … in the "valley of the son of Hinnom," to the south of Jerusalem (Josh. xv. 8, passim; II Kings xxiii. 10; Jer. ii. 23; vii. 31-32; xix. 6, 13-14). … the valley was deemed to be accursed, and "Gehenna" therefore soon became a figurative equivalent for "hell." Hell, like paradise, was created by God (Sotah 22a);
[Note, this is according to the ancient Jews, long before the Christian era, NOT supposed bias of Christian translators. DA]
(I)n general …sinners go to hell immediately after their death. The famous teacher Johanan b. Zakkai wept before his death because he did not know whether he would go to paradise or to hell (Ber. 28b). The pious go to paradise, and sinners to hell(B.M. 83b).
But as regards the heretics, etc., and Jeroboam, Nebat's son, hell shall pass away, but they shall not pass away" (R. H. 17a; comp. Shab. 33b). All that descend into Gehenna shall come up again, with the exception of three classes of men: those who have committed adultery, or shamed their neighbors, or vilified them (B. M. 58b).[/i]
… heretics and the Roman oppressors go to Gehenna, and the same fate awaits the Persians, the oppressors of the Babylonian Jews (Ber. 8b). When Nebuchadnezzar descended into hell, [ שׁאול /Sheol]] all its inhabitants were afraid that he was coming to rule over them (Shab. 149a; comp. Isa. xiv. 9-10). The Book of Enoch [x. 6, xci. 9, etal] also says that it is chiefly the heathen who are to be cast into the fiery pool on the Day of Judgment (x. 6, xci. 9, et al). "The Lord, the Almighty, will punish them on the Day of Judgment by putting fire and worms into their flesh, so that they cry out with pain unto all eternity" (Judith xvi. 17). The sinners in Gehenna will be filled with pain when God puts back the souls into the dead bodies on the Day of Judgment, according toIsa. xxxiii. 11 (Sanh. 108b).

= = = = = = = = =
Encyclopedia Judaica:
Gehinnom (Heb. גֵּי בֶן־הִנֹּם, גֵּי בְנֵי הִנֹּם, גֵּיא בֶן־הִנֹּם, גֵּיא הִנֹּם; Gr. Γέεννα; "Valley of Ben-Hinnom, Valley of [the Son (s) of] Hinnom," Gehenna), a valley south of Jerusalem on one of the borders between the territories of Judah and Benjamin, between the Valley of *Rephaim and *En-Rogel (Josh. 15:8; 18:16). It is identified with Wadi er-Rababi.

…..During the time of the Monarchy, Gehinnom, at a place called Topheth, was the site of a cult which involved the burning of children (II Kings 23:10; Jer. 7:31; 32:35 et al.;). Jeremiah repeatedly condemned this cult and predicted that on its account Topheth and the Valley of the Son of Hinnom would be called the Valley of the "Slaughter" (Jer. 19:5–6).
In Judaism the name Gehinnom is generally used as an appellation of the place of torment reserved for the wicked after death. The New Testament used the Greek form Gehenna in the same sense.

Talmud -Tractate Rosh Hashanah Chapter 1.
The school of Hillel says: . . . but as for Minim, [followers of Jesus] informers and disbelievers, who deny the Torah, or Resurrection, or separate themselves from the congregation, or who inspire their fellowmen with dread of them, or who sin and cause others to sin, as did Jeroboam the son of Nebat and his followers, they all descend to Gehenna, and are judged there from generation to generation, as it is said [Isa. lxvi. 24]: "And they shall go forth and look upon the carcases of the men who have transgressed against Me; for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched." Even when Gehenna will be destroyed, they will not be consumed, as it is written[Psalms, xlix. 15]: "And their forms wasteth away in the nether world," which the sages comment upon to mean that their forms shall endure even when the grave is no more. Concerning them Hannah says [I Sam. ii. 10]: "The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces."
Link: Tract Rosh Hashana: Chapter I.
When Jesus taught about e.g.,
• “Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” Matthew 25:41
• "these shall go away into eternal punishment, Matthew 25:46"
• "the fire of hell where the fire is not quenched and the worm does not die, Mark 9:43-48"
• "cast into a fiery furnace where there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth,” Matthew 13:42, Matthew 13:50
• “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” Matthew 18:6
• “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Matthew 7:23
• “woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born. ” Matthew 26:24
• “But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.” Luke 10:12
These teachings tacitly reaffirmed and sanctioned a then existing significant Jewish view of eternal hell, outlined above. In Matt. 18:6, 26:24 and Luk 10:12, see above, Jesus teaches that there is a punishment worse than death or nonexistence. A punishment worse than death without mercy is also mentioned in Hebrews 10:28-31.
Heb 10:28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Jesus is quoted as using the word death 17 times in the gospels, if He wanted to say eternal death in Matt 25:46, that is what He would have said but He didn’t, He said “eternal punishment.” The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection, they knew that everybody died; rich, poor, young, old, good, bad, men, women, children, infants and knew that it had nothing to do with punishment and was permanent. When Jesus taught “eternal punishment” they would not have understood it as merely death, it would have meant something worse to them.
…..Concerning “punishment” one early church father wrote,

“‘Then these reap no advantage from their punishment, as it seems: moreover, I would say that they are not punished unless they are conscious of the punishment.” Justin Martyr [A.D. 110-165.] Dialogue with Trypho Chapter 4
…..Jesus undoubtedly knew what the Jews, believed about hell. If the Jews were wrong, why would Jesus teach “eternal punishment,” etc. to Jews who believed, "The Lord, the Almighty, will punish them on the Day of Judgment by putting fire and worms into their flesh, so that they cry out with pain unto all eternity," which only reinforced those beliefs.

The saints in paradise will not be treading on the ashes of the wicked dead because the ashes of the wicked dead will not be in paradise.

Your mom is only accepting one facet of God, His Love. Among other things, He is also the God of Justice! (We mortals do not/cannot understand how both can exist at the same time, but they do!)

It took the Blood of Jesus to satisfy both of those objectives (at the same time).

Hell was given in order to offer everyone a choice,
  • Eternity with Him, or
  • Eternity without Him.

I can't remember the reference, but the Bible says we all came from dust and "to dust we will return." So I think we will all be cremated.

God deos not hate anyone.

"The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth."
- Psalm 11:5

He hates wicked people from his soul, from the very depth of his being.

God hates their ways (Proverbs 15:9), their thoughts (Proverbs 15:26), their worship (Proverbs 15:8), their actions (Proverbs 6:18), and their evil deeds (Psalm 5:5). He singles out as a special object of his hatred the blasphemous deeds of the Nicolaitans, those who seduced God’s people with idolatry and sexual immorality. “Yet this you have: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate” (Revelation 2:6).

“The Lord preserves all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy”
- Psalm 145:20

To keep it simple, hell is practical, not only a torture chamber thing. It is a punishment thing, but including for a very practical reason that God knows is necessary.

Now, if you want to get into this with me > here is what I offer in much more detail >
God is the Creator of all things.
yes

He loves everything He created, according to Genesis 1.
After the fall of Adam and Eve, God was not so pleased with His creation. Right? And God brought the flood upon His creation on this earth . . . right? Or, do you not believe this is God's word??

Already, I have some question about how well you know the Bible, because you just said God loved His creation, but you have left out how Adam and Eve went against God's love and get consequences for themselves. And then mankind so evil became flooded. Before we get to our discussion about hell, we need to deal with some other items which can effect if there needs to be hell or not. Clearly, according to the Bible, God found it necessary to bring the flood on the creation which He made but which was ruined by humans. So, yes God does judge, in any case. But He was being practical, not merely vengeful like Satanic beings can be. Satan is the one who accuses God of being unfair; yet, Satan is the one who can be very cruel in order to get and enforce what he wants.

Now, one may consider that the humans flooded were not tortured, first; so from this you might argue that God would not establish a place of permanent suffering. They surely suffered the pain of drowning, though, I would say, and they suffered as much as each did, about seeing that water gradually rising to kill them. So, there was torment in the process. But it was not God directly making them so suffer. Plus, their own wickedness put them there and made them able to be tormented by their fear.

But the Bible is clear how torment of fear comes because of a person not being in genuine love, and being in Satan's kingdom >

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love." (1 John 4:18)

So, fear of death is a problem of the sinner's nature making the person a slave of fear. And you can look up Hebrews 2:14-15, yourself, to see what God's word also says about this. Ones in a selfish nature are able to suffer torment of fear, not because God is torturing them, but because their own nature makes them suffer the fear.

Likewise, no one can suffer torment in hell, unless he or she has the evil-spirited nature of Satan. There is "the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience," our Apostle Paul does say in Ephesians 2:2. And we all have experienced how in our selfishness we have been able to already suffer different sorts of torment of fear.

So, if people suffer in hell, this will not be God's fault!!!!

But God hates Satan and demons and does not want anyone to live in the lake of fire that He created.
exactly!! God does not want anyone to suffer, not even Satan . . . in my opinion. However > Satan's evil spirit has its own nature so it suffers, and people living in this spirit of selfishness share with Satan in his problem. If you don't like people suffering in hell, do not piggy-back on Satan, by being selfish. Trust in Jesus to turn us "from the power of Satan to God" > see Acts 26:18 > "and you will find rest for your souls," Jesus guarantees, in Matthew 11:28-30.

But if anyone stubbornly keeps on living in fear, which the Bible clearly says not to do, whoever you are will suffer torment, in this life because of fear and worry, plus after you die. Because that evil spirit of fear will not go out of existence; it will have a place to be kept and controlled by fire so it can not go just anywhere to mess with things. So, do not stay with Satan's spirit of fear and its torment, or you can go where it is going.

My mom said a loving God would not create hell because He does not want people to suffer eternally, so she does not believe it exists. Why isn't this true?
I think God knows more than your mother does. And I have offered scripture to go with what I have offered. You have offered an argument, but God knows what actually works, practically. Satan's evil spirit has to go somewhere, and it is so stubborn and stupid that fire is needed to keep it managed the way God knows is right. So, do not be a sewer bucket of Satanic stuff which will be in the flaming sewer.

Do not be a vessel of hate and unforgiveness and lusts and anger and wrath and frustration and arguing and complaining or fear and worry. Or you can go where that cruelly foolish filth is going. Right now, people can suffer torment because of living in such nasty filthy nonsense, but now humans can use their bodies to feel some pleasure to make them feel a little nicer; but after they die, they won't have their physical bodies for feeling a little bit of pleasure > there will only be that nasty horrible filth and fire to keep it in its place, and how it is natural for selfish character to react to that fire.

So, possibly you can see, now, part of why Jesus considered it worthwhile to so suffer and die for us. Jesus knows more than we do, about hell; and He found it worthwhile to suffer and die like that, so we don't go there. I do not think your mother knows what Jesus knows. People of Satan are stubborn; only fire can fully manage them so they can not mess with others. And we see how religious and socially accepted moms and dads cursed their own children with the blood of Jesus > Matthew 27:25 < this shows how even supposedly respectable people of Satan's kingdom can become so horrible. Only with Jesus we can find out how to really love. Only Jesus can change us out of our selfishness-infected nature, so we live in God's peace with almighty power to keep us free from Satanic stuff messing us with unforgiveness and lusts and boredom and loneliness and frustration and other torment.

God's peace is almighty in His own immunity to howsoever this evil world would mess us. And part of our basic Christian calling it so submit to how our Heavenly Father personally rules each of us in this peace >

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)

This is for every child of God > "in one body", our Apostle Paul does say, here, for all of us. So, people who know God's word will make sure you know this, right? If people really care about not suffering torment, let them tell you about how God's peace is almighty to keep you from suffering torment, plus this is our Creator's own peace sharing with us His own creativity for how to practically love each and every person . . . in God's all-loving love. This is basic; this is where your attention needs to be, then, right?

:)
