You are so right Michie on that last line. And Jesus said you can not serve both God and mammon - not it's hard, or may not - CAN NOT.

So what do the bishops serve?

Last week we had a video from our bishop for his CSA service appeal for more cash. It's the only time he seems to contact us.

And so your parish gets "assessed" a dollar figure to raise. And if you don't raise it they just TAKE it from your parish's general checking account.

What other organization has a fund raiser, and at the end just takes the rest they wanted from people's bank accounts? They get put in jail for that - it's called stealing.

Isn't that something - they get a billion - literally - billion dollars to help with immigration from what I understand. How does all this money get spent? And is this why our old priest seemed to preach against the boarder wall so often?

Yep because the wall would affect the bottom line. Who cares about souls when you can get a billion dollars

The article is very misleading and appears to be politically motivated. Charities of the Catholic Church can apply for grants from the federal government. These can help immigrants, refugees, the poor, adoptions, and so on.

In the same way, a hospital can apply for grants to help sick kids. A university applies for a grant to do research. A non-profit, non-religious charity applies for grants for whatever.

Bishops make a decision about whether ministries of the diocese should receive grants for from the Federal government based on the requirements that come with them. For example, if you want a ministry to get money to help get kids adopted, you may have to place them with homosexual couples. Many bishops will not allow ministries of their diocese to receive federal funds because of such requirements.

Bishops are not given checks from the Federal government. Charities within their diocese receive money with specific requirements. Bishops are outspoken about immigration because they have seen the hardships they have causes families.
