Are posters to this thread aware of retired NYC detective Jim Rothstein's successful method for locally preventing child sex trafficking?

I have a poster here - apologies, when I try to post links my messages are rejected so I have to spell it out:

Its because you don't have enough posts that you can't posts links. :sorry:

Yes, this is a big problem even here in the States. I've attend two colleges which had programs in place to raise awareness, etc. What we need is much stronger deterrents against these perverts, because they get away with it all the time, and even when they're prosecuted, the punishment often doesn't fit the crime. Many are released after just a few years. After a crime like this...it's the devil at work, and we need to act to change our justice system (here and abroad) to actually deliver justice to the victim and their loved ones, instead of protecting the worst of the worst. We also need to persevere in prayer and help the victims to safety and recovery!

There are an estimated 1.2 million children trafficked each year – the majority of them being lured, bribed or forced into the sex-trade. That’s one child every 26 seconds!

This is a horrible statistic, and something as Christians that we need to fight against with all our might.

At the moment I am trying to lobby my government to implement a plan aimed at ending Child Prostitution with in one generation. We have an online petition, that all you need to do is enter your email address, to say you want to see governments take a stand to end prostitution of children. Please sign it at Stop Child Prostitution also if you are on social media please share the link.

If you wish to keep up to date with the progress of the campaign go to the following link. Help Stop Child Prostitution - Act now Also there are email addresses on there for the politician I am talking with. Emails are very valuable in changing politicians minds. Please send him an email saying you want to see an end of Child Prostitution.

Also please add this campaign to your prayer list. God is the only hope for these young girls.

Governments can't fix this problem.

I wish I knew how to recognize it better. I mean an older man with a girl could just as well be a grandfather / uncle / father / step-brother for all I know. But to think that other things do go on all over the place makes me wonder if I've seen it but didn't actually see it? You know what I mean?

Anyway, I think we also need to start looking more seriously at human trafficking which involves boys, too. I've heard, and believe, that that's a growing problem. There is very little in the way of resources to help male victims. Think the boys who were abused by ISIS... I also read of one small center in Florida for sex-trafficked boys and also an article about a boy who had been kidnapped right from under his parents noses but was thankfully found in a car after an extensive search.

So none of that to take away from the many girl victims, obviously, but when people refer to trafficking victims as "girls" I wince a tiny bit because I've met male prostitutes and I know how it began...

If you are worried about your computer then you should get a chromebook for the internet.
Sorry, this is an old thread I accidentally revived. Not that the subject matter isn't still important or relevant though...

Did they even have chromebooks way back in 2013? ^_^

Chrome came out in 2011. Micorsoft has always been one of the worst systems. I remember the Amiga computer I had before the IBM clone. It was a much better systems then what Bill Gates was trying to pawn off on people.

Well, I've always used Microsoft computers and I appreciate how it's simple to tweak things to your own preferences and easily dig into the system files if you choose to do so and know how.

However I will agree there are a lot of bugs in the system, that are often obvious after major updates. The other day I changed my password on Skype and suddenly I could no longer log into my email account, which makes no sense because it has a completely different password. The nice thing is that the Windows troubleshooter actually did something for once. It resolved it for me and both are fine now. Usually the troubleshooter just says more or less "I dunno. I guess you'll have to get help online." ^_^

Thanks to a very courageous friend from my last college, human trafficking has become a passion of mine, too.

Here's a post I made earlier, with links to all sorts of data on human trafficking:
Data on Human Trafficking

God bless us all & this ministry you're promoting! Please pray for my friend who's actively gone out to Thailand to fight against this & is wanting to become a police detective to continue fighting on the front lines!

Great links you've shared. Thanks!

I think the labor trafficking is a difficult thing, because at what point is the employee staying because they want to and at what point is the employer abusing their authority? The employee may tell others he is staying because he likes his job, when in reality he's staying because he fears he will lose everything his employer has "given" him if he quits.

But when is it okay to intercede or when would it only hurt the worker more?
