I found this group this morning when I was looking for some help. I don't know where to go for help so I will start with my info. I'm a 71yr old retired RN. I claim to be a Christian, was raised going to Sunday school and church, youth group as a teen. My husband of 38 yrs left me for another woman, so I am now remarried going on 12 years. I have 2 grown children, 3 grandchildren. With my marriage I moved to a small town, away from my children. I attend 2 Bible studies a week and have for the past 10 or so years. I need some help and I don't know which forum to ask. I try to be a good Christian, go to Bible study, listen to Christian music, want to be more dedicated to being in the word, but life gets in the way so I am filled with guilt. I love my pastor but when I go to him for help, I feel more guilty. I have a dear friend that leads one of my Bible studies and when I go to her I get what I want to hear and not what I need. Can someone direct me?

Welcome to CF! I believe we are in the last church age...

Ephesus - Messianic - The Apostle Peter was the Apostle to the Messianics.
Smyrna - Martyr - The Apostle Paul was the Apostle to the Gentiles. Foxes has the persecutions as ten.
Pergamos - Dark Ages... Pergos is a tower... Needed in the dark ages
Thyatira - Mid Ages- The spirit of Jezebel is to control and to dominate.
Sardis - Protestant - A sardius is a gem - elegant yet hard and rigid
Philadelphia - Wesleyism - To be sanctioned is to acquire it with love.
Laodicea - Materialistic - Rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing?

I have noticed that the revivals of the Philadelphian church have basically come to an end. In this day and time there is a danger in getting trapped in a denomination that has long ago disappeared into the enchanted ground. I was listening to two sisters talk in an Assembly of God church and they said they heard that in the last days the people were going to have to, "Cut their own paths." I believe that is good direction for this time, especially in bible reading, prayer, and study.

Welcome, Lea Anne. I haven't been here very long - maybe a month or so. I've enjoyed being here. There seem to be some strong believers who can speak the truth in love here. If you feel like you can start unloading some of this weight you've been carrying, you might get a good answer or two from people who have likely gone through similar. I hope you find answers that will be helpful.

And if you want honesty and not just what makes your ears twitch, you will find it here. I find many people here want to help you grow in your walk and they will help steer you where you need to go :)

Hi, my friend,

I’ve used a couple of things to help me stay in the Bible. First of all, I have a great Bible that has commentaries, a concordance, and provides Biblical background on each chapter, and includes other interesting facts. All these help me to understand what I am reading.

Then, I learned from Dr. Charles Stanley, InTouch, that I needed to find the time to study that works best for me. I am a morning person, so I’ve positioned my Bible and journal right next to my chair in the living room and first thing in the morning, I read, pray, and write down the things that stand out from the passages that I am reading.

In May, I found an outline for reading the Bible through entirely, and I asked some of my lady friends (we all live in different cities) to join me in reading by using the outline to help keep us on track. I send out periodical emails sharing some of my insights. We haven’t all stayed on schedule, but that is okay. The idea is that we are all reading the Word. No one need feel guilty about where they are in reading, it’s more about spending time with the Lord and learning more about Him. Right?

I hope this helps you, too.
