Practically speaking, none of this is truth.
Yahweh Willing, it will take a few days to show this. (for those who don't know already, but who do want to know the truth)
All right, let's take my claims one by one. I declared that slavery has been abolished. You posted

As we can see, a dramatic reduction in slavery.

I will say that I don't really care a lot for the belief that we shouldn't be of this world and we should have an exclusive relationship. So you know what that reminds me of? The writing in George Orwell's 1984 and authoritarian places like Saudi Arabia, Cuba and North Korea. Christians in the West think that sort of society is horrible.

I don't like that my generation won't have any local community like previous generations. I really don't like to sound "I was born in the wrong generation" sometimes, but that's how I really start feeling sometimes. Maybe not completely wholesale, but my generation and this time in general have A LOT to be desired.

Also, what ever happened to it being a good thing to be angry?
I'm allowed to be angry for my opinions that are being disrespected by whole society, I'm also allowed to wish and beg that it would be different again. But many of you might just believe that Jesus only wants us to be quiet and reserved. :confused2:

I want to add something again for context. If there really is going to be a grid-down or SHTF-stuff in America very soon like some popularly predict, than I do wish I was born decades earlier, so that I can focus on my future life instead of having to live in constant danger of danger or murder for the rest of my 30-plus life. But no, an EMP will almost guaranteed happen by the time I reach 30 and life will just be hell.

And America is the one single particular most likely to suffer it. I also wish there was a quick way to go somewhere else.

In my generation I think I'm a pretty odd one. I am in my 20s my first decade as an adult, but I don't like the 2010s world and wish I was at that age during the 50s to early-90s. I feel like it's reached near disaster point and society won't recover not even 20 or 30 years back. I don't have a really bright feeling about all the technology that will change everything and who we are either, even though I use some of it myself. It would've been nicer to grow up when tech was more simple and primitive, and there was a better window to improve things. Like God says "Oh I'm sorry I can't fix it even though your ancestors before you screwed it all up", I have lately become very militant about my point of view.
Well as someone that grew up in the 1980s, society was different, and it was not necessarily better. I remember clearly a child that had Aids and had to be expelled from school due to that and shunned from her community. People feared to hug and even handshake a person with Aids as well. I also remember preachers stating Aids is God punishment on gay people, but it was not just gay people that were getting it.

VCR-2000, modern culture is pure evil. God said to hate evil (Amos 5:15) so you should hate modern culture. I am not Christian but I am interested in anyone willing to oppose the evil of modern culture. I wrote about this here:

If I had to be honest, I want Jesus to come back as soon as possible. Life hasn't been all that great for me, so the better he comes back and we're out of here.... the better. So watching society self destruct doesn't bother me that much. I just take it that it means the return of the Lord is coming.

This seems like a selfish perspective. Jesus will return on His own time. Believing that we can hasten His coming by making society more corrupt, sinful, and disordered seems wrong, and actually hoping for or taking pleasure in societal destruction seems even worse. We and our descendants all have to live here in the meantime.

I’m a Gen-Xer and I love my life. My daughter is a millennial and she feels the same. I taught her how to navigate the world wisely. To understand the lesson of fat and lean and flow through the changes rather than being overcome by them.

Most of your sentiments are a reflection of mindset not the times at hand. There was never a utopia. Every generation faces challenges the previous didn’t. Bemoaning our fate and filling our heart with lamentations doesn’t minimize the truth.

The clock is ticking. We are advised to count our days for a reason. You can never get it back. In years to come you may regret your despondency and wish you’d applied your heart to profitable musings.

It is my intention to have the abundant life Christ spoke of and its fullness. I give no attention to what if or what could have been. He called me for today. Not the past. We are needed for such a time as this. To ponder otherwise is fruitless.

Can't give you a much better response than that.

Your life is going to be very different from the lives of your parents and grandparents. Yours is the first generation that will be less well off financially than the ones that came before it in American history. Yours is the first generation that will see the Christian church lose its political power and become a persecuted minority as it has been in other nations and times. The social systems that people looked to - a university education, social security, medicare - will all most certainly be useless. Most of these systems were starting to break down for us, and I'm a gen-Xer. You may even live to see the ultimate bankruptcy and division of the nation, socialism, or civil war.

There is a book called "the fourth turning" that attempts to explain such generational shifts.

All you can do is sharpen your mind, body, and sword for the days that lay ahead.

It seems that every generation feels that it's youth are going downhill fast.

Socrates (died 399BC) wrote --- Our youth now love luxury, they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders, and love to chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their household. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers.

I think that a great many of the negative attitudes expressed in this thread reflect a gererational perspective rather than actual reality.

I hear you, VCR, but I feel it is less a matter of technology than personal attitudes. We now live in an era that does not value mutual respect, personal responsibility, the rule of law, and more in that vein.

I’ve read most of this thread and I agree with the general sentiment; modern technology seems less magical. What I really miss though, is the traditional style life fading away. You are considered radical, uneducated (I have been repeatedly called uneducated, stupid, dumb, etc. by other women) for believing in traditional gender roles and biblical headship and submission. Even just discussing traditional gender roles is controversial. When my late husband was alive, women close to me would poke jokes and ask if I was allowed to come out when we would make plans and accused me of being in a controlling marriage. (I was not, I was never forced to do anything, I submitted to his will and he usually of his own accord consulted with me before making decisions; he also provided for the kids and I, I had access to all the money and accounts, etc).

Even if you bring up the point that you’re respecting other beliefs, feminists (male and female) will accuse you of being a bigot, close minded, and all types of insults beyond those. You’re only supposed to be of the opinion of what is widely secularly accepted when it comes to this topic or else it’s off with her head lol, but seriously! Very sad and frustrating lol

Every generation is morally and spiritually degenerate, some of us just get good at ignoring the "bad", and pretending nothing happens - even to the point of reviling and rejecting real victims.

If we confront reality as it is, we don't have to work to vindicate our prejudices and ideology.
