View media item 62052Good morning my dear friends in Christ! 190816

Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.” - Genesis 19:32

I have never heard a message on or about Lot’s children. Think about this. Two angels were sent from God to Sodom. The reports of Sodom's sins were found to be true. More! Those vices did not...

a resounding AMEN to the entire devotion today. Not only Lot's daughters, but his wife was perhaps WORSE. She turned to look back, even after the angels warned her not to, and her husband Lot and her two daughters ran from there without looking back. Her HEART was IN that wicked place. She LOVED that place and ALL that was in it.

And we know what happened right?

She was turned into a pillar of salt.

Thank you for this profound and timely piece on this very humid and partially cloudy Friday afternoon.

God bless you brother.

Thank you so much Brinny for your kind, Godly demeanor. Not everyone saw it that way. Here is the intro from a 2 page post I got from a Christian on Gab:

"Personal rant coming up…
I am so weary of preachers using our godly brother Lot as a punching bag in their sermons.
Not one of these smears against Lot’s godly behavior and person are in the Bible. There is not a word of disapproval by God about anything Lot ever did or said.
Neither does Abraham - nor any Biblical figure - have a negative thing to say about Lot.
..."

While there is some truth in what he says, there are lost people watching and judging their heart. Now they will say, I am not as bad as Lot and Lot is saved, so I must be pretty good. Sometimes I feel we are our own worst enemy.

Again, thank you Brinny for being who you are. Hope you have a blessed evening!

Exactly. The only reason that God rescued Lot via the two angels is because of Abraham. In addition, Lot MARRIED a woman he fully knew wasn't Godly, and who didn't give a hoot about the living God.

In addition, the question is, WHY did Lot CONTINUE to STAY in the wicked place?

Absolutely! Unfortunately, Gab's private messages are still busted, so I had to respond publicly and not escalate the situation. Here was my response:

"I certainty can't answer where the extra Biblical information came from in the devotion. And you are correct that Lot was saved. He is described as "just Lot" in 2 Peter 2:6-7, "And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: "

You are also correct (to my knowledge) there is not a word of disapproval from God recorded in the Bible. However, I do not believe God would have approved of Lot offering his daughters for the sexual pleasures of the men of the city compassed around the house. Genesis 19:8, "Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof."

God is sometimes silent in the circumstances, but that does not mean approval.

In Christ alone!"

i agree. Right there is his "compromise", which is based on his "fear of man" rather than God. Lot did not "fear God". He was called "righteous" for Abraham's sake. The fact that he STAYED in that wicked place indicated a continual "compromise" to even stay there. This "compromise" is indicated with his own family, especially his wife. She LOVED that wicked place and most likely would've fought him tooth and nail if he would've decided to leave before those angels came on the scene, and he possibly stayed there to "please" his wife, amongst other things.

He kept staying there, "swallowing" the vomit.
