Well, he was part of Hillsong. And I don't read CCM magazines as well. But I do follow Christian Post on Facebook and I follow several Christian celebrities like Ken Ham and the Benham Brothers and dr. Michael Brown.

But he wrote By Your Side and Surrender. Any wrote a lot of other songs, and some of them were on Darlene Zschech albums. He also sang with Delirious. I just am a little shocked.
Did you read Dr. Brown's column on it?

Submit to God for all He pleases to do with us. He knows who He is, and all He is committed to doing with us. The Bible is a match with what I find God doing in me.

The quotes in the article show me the person has gotten into basic atheistic apologetics . . . nothing original or creative, at all.

It looks like he is not at all dealing with what the Bible says is real Christianity. If this is correct, he has left what is not Biblical Christianity.

He talks about how he is for loving, being kind. But if he thinks this is what anyone can do, this leaves out how God makes us able to be kind and caring. How humans can be humane is not as good, because in our human nature we can stay weak enough to deeply suffer various sorts of torment. While we might care about others and about ourselves, our human nature keeps us weak so we can get in deep trouble when hard things come against us.

But Christianity, in my opinion now, is not first for us. First, God's grace favors Jesus and changes us to become and love like Jesus. Jesus is the One so pleasing to our Father; so God first is committed to changing us to be so delighting to Him like His own Son. And we experience this, as we grow in how Jesus is. And being able to love like this . . . halleluiah :)

Thank you very much for that.

In the last days there will be a falling away. This includes prominent Christians with much talent.

It's sad to watch but this is what must happen before Jesus comes back.

Agreed

But this has happened to me as well.

This sort of thing is not unknown. During the late 1940's and well into the 1950's Charles Templeton was one of the leading evangelists in North America. He was a contemporary and close friend of Billy Graham and even travelled and roomed with him on joint crusades. Some, at the time, regarded him as a greater evangelist than Graham himself. In 1957, just following his greatest crusade ever, and after a long period of soul searching, he turned his back on his ministry and walked away from it. He said to himself, in effect, “how can I stand here and preach passionately to these people when I know that I am not preaching the truth.” One has to admire his honesty.

That was very informative. Thank you

This is actually me right now to be perfectly honest.

In like manner, to be perfectly honest.

When a person says I am losing my Faith, then they need to STOP right there and ask themselves, what do I have my Faith in if I am losing it?

1 Co. 2:2
For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

Is your Faith in anything other than "Jesus Christ and Him Crucified"?

If people would just sit down and sit still for 5 minutes, they might get somewhere.

What I mean is, get down and STUDY, I don't mean Read the Bible, I mean STUDY, people need to understand, what we think we understand is something completely different than what God is saying, every WORD in the Bible has a specific meaning, and if you believe you know what that word means (Definition) think again, the Bible was written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek therefore don't think just because it was Translated into English, that you necessarily know the Definition for such and such word, or how it is being used in such and such sentence, (Verse) because if your Reading in the New Testament, you need to know what that specific word means in GREEK not English.

Every single time I read, it very quickly turns into study by the Holy Spirit, I believe whenever I read, God is going to speak to me personally, why do I believe that, because, I am His Child, I am reading His words to me about the things He wanted me to know therefore, He had them recorded in the Bible which I am reading, ..... Simple right?

I may begin reading in a certain place, or on a certain subject, I read until I become aware, there is a certain Word, Term, or Phrase that isn't quite clear and I keep reading it over and over and it still doesn't sink in.

I then pick out the Word in the Term or Phrase which I don't think I understand, and look it up in my Concordance.

That is the point where the Holy Spirit begins to Teach me, and I might not have even gotten finished with 1 Chapter, or about 5 min, worth of reading.

At the point I get the definition of the word there are other words in the definition which spark my interest, so I look them up also in order to understand just how that first word related to these others, then there are other verses which come to mind, and I look at them as well, seeing if what I am understanding is correct, by the time I finish I find I have STUDIED for over 2 Hrs, and I have read things all over the Bible in this search the Holy Spirit has led me on.

The Bible is first and foremost a Book of WORDS, if we understand those Words, they will open up the whole Bible to us.

There are two verses, they are not about what I have just said, but if you apply them as though they are, you will never hunger, the Holy Spirit will feed you mightily.

Luke 11:9
And I say unto you,
ASK, and it shall be given you;
SEEK, and ye shall find;
KNOCK, and it shall be opened unto you.

Mat. 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you.

Don't worry about or Seek Temporal things, if you Ask for the Kingdom, it Shall be given to you, when you Seek the Kingdom, you WILL find it, when you Knock on the gates of the Kingdom, it WILL be opened unto you.

Therefore Ask God to show you the Kingdom in His word, what I mean is how does what I am reading relate to His Kingdom, in your doing so, the Holy Spirit will show you how to apply this knowledge of the Kingdom in order for it to become more clear to you.

Seek the Kingdom in your reading, until you see it in the words written before you.

Once you really do see the Kingdom, that is when you Knock for entrance, and it SHALL BE opened unto you.

But it all begins with understanding the words your reading, and not just taking for granted that you understand the Definition for that English word, because you always need to remember the Bible was not written in English.

Lastly, don't worry about what God has done, or why He has done what he has, your position as a Child of God, follower of Christ, a Disciple of Christ.

If you apply yourself to Seeking God and His Righteousness, and His Kingdom, Every question which is designed to push you further away from God, Shall be answered for you.

When in school, you might question a Teacher about the subject he is teaching, in order for you to be able to understand the subject better, but you would never ask the teacher about WHY he teaches the WAY he does or WHY he has failed another student, making him have to repeat the subject.

When Marty Samson, or anyone says this: “I’m genuinely losing my faith, and it doesn’t bother me. Like, what bothers me now is nothing. I am so happy now, so at peace with the world. It’s crazy.”

Marty Samson already has a new faith which brings him peace. He won't be coming back to the saving faith.

Skillet’s John Cooper on Apostasy Among Young Christian Leaders

Interesting take from the lead singer of Skillet, a hard rock band that has had success in both the secular and Christian music arenas.

Rather long but the part below is perhaps the core.

It is time for the church to rediscover the preeminence of the Word. And to value the teaching of the Word. We need to value truth over feeling. Truth over emotion. And what we are seeing now is the result of the church raising up influencers who did not supremely value truth who have led a generation who also do not believe in the supremacy of truth. And now those disavowed leaders are proudly still leading and influencing boldly AWAY from the truth.

I think the issue isn't about the pre-eminence of the words in the bible however.

We had plenty of that, it resulted in the bible replacing the role of the Holy Spirit. Regrettably the article while thoughtful, does not trace the trunk of the corrupted tree back to its roots.

They fall away cause they don't know the truth, and because and even if they did, or even if and when they do or might at some point, they might not return back to those same circles anyway, and probably wouldn't or would not, etc...

God Bless!

In the last days there will great falling away, and it will be due to a lack of accurate and right and correct knowledge, or many will become spiritually dead, due to spiritually dying, due to lack of right and correct spiritual knowledge...

God Bless!

Sure, that has happened in some Christians/churches/denominations- it is the opposite extreme what has happened in some of the more extreme "spirit-filled" churches. In both cases the truth of the words of the bible points to their error, however.

I didn't read Cooper diminishing the role of the Holy Spirit. I read him countering those who diminish the role of the Bible and allow every feeling they have to be interpreted as the guiding of the Holy Spirit, even if it contradicts biblical truth.
