I full agree with the main concept for this thread. His sheep hear His voice and we need to follow that voice. What I don't understand is how someone wrote: "Discipleship is hard work, it is hard because we must let God mold and shape us, we must surrender our will to God's will, and we must put Jesus Christ above everything and everyone else in our life. "
Is it really "hard work" to listen to the Lord and do what He asks? Does surrendering out will to God's will so that God can mold and shape us really make is harder on us?
That statement is just wrong!! Have we not even read the Bible to see that His burden is light!! And what really happens when you follow His voice. It might be hard to get yourself to listen, and hard to get yourself to surrender to His will, but the work He asks you to do is not hard is it? I would never use the phrase "hard work" to describe what it is like to actually follow the Lord!! "Hard word" is what I get when I don't follow His instructions!
The Lord came into my life when I wasn't looking for Him. I listened to Him, and "hard work" was they very thing He took out of my life. Not that there wasn't easy work to do, there was. But actually following Him made my life easier. He freed up time for me to watch my kids soccer games. He changed my job to an easier job with less stress. It turned out His burden was light in all sense of the word.
The problem that gets me is dealing with other "Christians". I listen to them and wonder if they are really hearing from Him at all. Certainly some are, but what about others? I saw this section and thought, 'How wonderful', because I am always trying to get people to just listen to Him, who made my life easier with less work. Then I read and they ask me to agree with what "THEY" say. Well - what they say is wrong. His burden is light - just like the Bible says. It's not "hard work"!!!
I can not agree with such silliness!!
He has asked me to do lots of things for Him, like pray for others. Is that "hard work". He told me that He was going to have me doing lots of writing for Him, which amazed me because I am good at math and logic but poor in language skill, but the writing is anything but "Hard Work". He has me helping in a prayer room - that is not hard work! And He took me out of working for others and gave me a business of my own. It's a lot of work, but is not nearly as hard of work I was doing when I worked for someone else.
It is written that He gives us life and that more abundantly - does that sound like "hard work" in any sense of the word? So what you are asking people to agree to is not what comes from listening to Him. "
Hard Work" does not come from actually listening to Him and doing what He says, and
what you say does not even match up with the what is written in the Bible!!
