Yes, clearly the bible contains those things we need to know to do what God has given us to do.

In 1994 pieces of the Shoemaker Levy 9 comet struck Jupiter. The event left impact zones visible to astronomers on earth.

In 1994 a fragmented comet called Shoemaker Levy 9 hit Jupiter. The impact zones were visible to astronomers on earth.

65 million years ago a comet impacted the Gulf of Mexico near Mexico.

I don't want to mess with anybody's faith, but in my own faith I am pretty sure that if the writers of the O.T. had benefit of modern science and NASA, they would have changed the order of things as reported in Genesis et al. As it was, they were not men of science, but rather were men of faith who worshipped the one true God. And while the order of things doesn't really gel if you know modern science, the concept was as perfect as God is perfect. God made it all happen regardless of when, how, and in what order which even science has to guess at all of that.

So I am thanking God that this meteor didn't hit Earth as it would have done a tremendous amount of damage and could have killed millions if it hit a heavily populated area. I believe we have been hit by geology and life changing asteroids in the past--most scientists believe it was just such an event that killed the dinosaurs--and, unless God does wrap up this Earthly existence earlier, it is almost inevitable that it will happen again. The only diference is that we are developing technology that may make it possible for us to destroy or divert such an incoming killer. And I earnestly support that research.

Nowadays it's fairly popular idea that if there is life on other planets, it will null and void the claims of the Bible. However...

I recently became aware that Christianity has had a few theologians who argued for life on different worlds in light of the Bible. It's been documented within Christianity from as early as the thirteenth century there was an objection to the Church's teaching of Earth being the only place where life could exist. The argument was made that such a thing is incorrect because it would limit God's omnipotence.

According to that science theory, the mainstream science theory that is widely held, and only repeated from NASA, the Earth was forming already, and likely in darkness, before sunlight from the also-forming sun was able to get through the dust to light it, and when the light began to glow through, as if though a dense fog if you like, just like in Genesis chapter 1 day one -- light began on earth, that still total ocean world Earth, without dry land yet, was already rotating, so that even though nothing was visible in Earth's sky from the surface except vague light and darkness, morning, evening and night....the science aligning perfectly it happens to the text of Genesis. Something of which atheists are simply unaware, not knowing much of the theory in detail. The Young Earth would be cloudy also, and the sun moon and stars would not be visible for a long while. But the Earth, the Universe and all of Creation -- all that is, is "very good" -- Genesis chapter 1. We should read it though with true listening, instead of theories (even theories like YEC) in our minds. Put the interpretations and ideas and theories and age of Earth -- you name it -- aside, and truly listen, with all of your heart and all of you mind and all of your soul, and just hear the Word.

How wonderful.

The major impacts on Earth in the past, we can expect, were each considered or selected by God -- just right -- to accomplish His purposes. Only the useful major comet or asteroid, just right, would be allowed, after life began, according to His purposes, to accomplish what He intended. It seems very likely the one that made most all of the dinosaurs into compost, clearing the way for us, was chosen with perfect knowledge of its effects. Not too big, not too small, and at just the right time. And then followed after the sharp proliferation and rise of mammals into the empty niches.

The asteroid is only the size of a boulder. So that NASA picked it up is quite remarkable. To kill a city it would have to hit a city. It would be more likely to land somewhere remote like the sea or Russian steppes.

Amazingly you ask us to put aside interpretations, ideas, theories--you name it--& just truly LISTEN, listen with all of your heart & mind & soul & just hear the Word.

Yet you continually ADD to the Word your ideas, theories--you name it above--BEFORE you tell us to lay aside OURS. And you quote part of a verse out of its context of loving God & apply it to Genesis chapter 1.

This is CONFUSING.

Does Genesis 1 say on day 1 that there was 'SUNLIGHT'? No. No sun, no sunlight.
Does Genesis 1 on day 1 say there was dense dust keeping the 'sunlight' out? No.
Does Genesis 1 on day 1 say the sunlight began to glow through this dust cloud as if it were a dense fog? No.

Was this JUST LIKE Genesis Ch. 1 day 1? Absolutely not. YOU ADDED the part about Genesis Ch. 1 day 1, not NASA. You tried to reconcile the theory with what you interpreted the passage was saying, which the above comparison shows that this is inaccurate to what is ACTUALLY said. No correlation whatsoever. Moving on...

The science is 'ALIGNING PERFECTLY' just as it happens to the text of Genesis. Does it? Absolutely not.

YOU ADD more supposedly aligning information AS IF YOU WERE ACTUALLY THERE, OBSERVING IT--when you were not! But there were three Persons, the Father, the Son (the Word) & the Holy Spirit--Who WERE PRESENT & ACCURATELY told us all what REALLY HAPPENED, just as God SAID in His Word--the whole truth & nothing but the truth.

Does Genesis 1 on day 1 say the earth was already rotating? No.
Does Genesis 1 on day 1 say nothing was visible in earth's sky from the surface except vague light & darkness? No.

Reading something & listening to what it ACTUALLY SAYS is ONLY 'true' listening IF one is reading WHAT IS ACTUALLY THE TRUTH.

'All Scripture is inspired ('God breathed out') by God & is profitable for DOCTRINE, for REPROOF, for CORRECTION & for TRAINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS...'

'Sanctify them in THE TRUTH; Your Word is truth.'

God had a REASON for WHY He said what He said in Genesis Ch. 1, in the way that He said it & in the order that He created the universe. Man doesn't dictate how it should be interpreted, science doesn't dictate how it should be interpreted, God dictates how it should be interpreted by what He ACTUALLY SAID.

We can't put aside the age of the earth BECAUSE THE TEXT WON'T ALLOW IT--WHEN we read it through & listen with true listening.

But I commend you, that you would want us to read through & listen to Genesis Chapter One. I would even add that one should listen to it over & over again, IF they want to hear the truth--from God Himself--of how He created all things, that were very good. He was there, as the true eyewitness of what actually happened.

Sadly, people don't BELIEVE what He actually said was true. But to those who do:

They will CONTINUE in the Word & will then KNOW the truth & in this continuance of knowing, we can be set free--from sin, from bondage, from humanistic philosophy of what 'supposedly' happened then, but no human eye witnesses, other than Adam & Eve on day six.

So let us just do as you suggest. Listen to Genesis Chapter One, maybe more than once. Let the truth of God's Word fill your mind & thoughts & fill your heart--SO THAT WE WILL LOVE THE LORD OUR GOD WITH ALL OUR HEART AND MIND & SOUL & STRENGTH--with our whole being--because we have a LOVE OF THE TRUTH.

Jesus is not on earth right now , having ascended up there so I guess he qualifies as extra terrestrial life. Angels may well exist elsewhere and I see no reason why not on other planets. JUst cause the bible does not explicitly spell out alternate locations for alternate creatures does not rule out the possibility. Also if we take life up there on a spaceship it will exist elsewhere also. Personally I am also a creationist but NASA theories on the formation of the Earth and cosmos are just theories, they have also supplied a lot of useful observations such as of near earth asteroids for instance.

We are a long way from being able to pick up projectiles this small moving very fast before they are almost on top of us. But I agree it is good stewardship of this planet to attempt to provide some kind of Early warning , defence grid. At the end of the day I think it will always be occasion for prayer.

It would raise interesting questions. Jesus became a man to save us. Angels are saved by obedience. Animals by their relationship with their human owners. But what would be an aliens relationship to God. If they were humanoid would Christs sacrifice cover them, if not would it be a different kind of relationship with the Divine. But the bible leaves scope for different kinds of creatures than human beings. I suspect however that there are not other higher life forms out there except of course the angels.

Your NASA data includes an observation from 2017. But they named the asteroid 2019 OK. I suppose if it had hit it would have been 2019 Not OK or 2019 Ouch or something similar.

Even if you had an early warning system, what exactly could you do with it? Tell a city of a few million people that at 5am next Tuesday they're going to be vaporised, but we'll be praying for y'all? Shoot rockets at it and hope one of them hits it? Send a geriatric crew of astronauts and rock drillers to land on it and blow it up into smaller town destroying bits? Take a ring side seat a hundred or so kilometres outside the city and watch the fireworks?

Even if we knew it was coming, there wouldn't be much we could do about it.
