I think homeschooling is safer. Most of the body is exposed and the majority of students don’t walk around wearing the pack all day or on the playground.

Kids in America have been shot at church, synagogue, mosque, music festivals, garlic festivals, movie theaters, Walmart, just out and about doing normal, healthy things. I think it's sad as heck that folks would consider homeschooling their kids on account of fear of them being shot at school. I understand it but gracious. It's not a problem that Canadian parents have to wrestle with, shouldn't be one we have to.

Colleges have also been shot up, so have workplaces, so it's grim for adults too.

We’ve chosen homeschooling for the quality of educational opportunities and the ability to customize the curriculum. School attendance isn’t necessary. Participation in private programs for sports, art, and music would allow them to socialize with peers.

I'm opposed to homeschooling except in exceptional circumstances, but seeing as how it's legal in America, whatever floats your boat. This thread isn't about homeschooling. I just would find it awfully sad if folks chose it on account of fear their children would be shot at school. Americans parents shouldn't be in that predicament.

Most parents choose homeschooling for better education. Few are pulling their kids out due to fear. Some prefer a setting with Christian values.

Children can be taught at home by a parent or hired professional. Not everyone opting out is doing it themselves.

Sadly some people on here do not realize how homeschooling works, there are indeed programs so your kids can spend every day with hundreds of other kids doing what they do in normal school. Roller skating or bowling for exercise, going to museums and what not.

Well, I realize exactly how homeschooling works, having been home-schooled myself for a while. I believe that in most circumstances, attending school is better. Once again, though, this thread isn't about homeschooling. Once again, I think it's sad if parents choose it out of fear of their child being shot.

Yes, but nowadays more American parents are unfortunately choosing homeschooling on account of fear of school shootings. There was just an article about that last week, prior to the shootings over the weekend.

The problem with home schooling is that they do not learn social skills and good communication skills are very important in life. Far to often children are home schooled because they are being bullied and having trouble getting along with people.
