As a liberal, I will give Trump credit when he has earned it. So, here it goes...

Kudos to Trump for kind of sticking to the script of the speech that was prepared for him (he only screwed up by mentioning Toledo) or we might have heard his confused version of history about how white supremacists took over airports during the Revolutionary War and how it was a teleprompter's fault that he screwed up during his speech. He only messed up once and that was impressive.

Kudos to Trump for not saying there were "very fine people on both sides" this time.

Kudos to Trump for not behaving like his usual self and resorting to a raging fit about Democrats or about the liberal media or about non-white Congresswomen or about anyone else he despises.

Kudos to Trump for not exhibiting questionable behavior toward minorities this time as he has done many times in his past and kudos for not retweeting another racist tweet by a white supremacist.

Talk is cheap.

I give him props for not saying things making the situation any worse than it is and if he manages to do what his 3 predecessors could not on this front, I will certainly give him credit for it but I won’t hold my breath waiting for change to come from this Oval Office.

I think it has more with him trying to save face than with him actually having genuine feelings to honestly condemn white supremacy. That attack coordinates with the evidence that white supremacy is on the rise under him: US neo-Nazi groups on the rise under President Donald Trump: report.

Trump is talking out of both sides of his mouth. If he was truly bothered by white supremacy and racism, he wouldn't condemn it only when it was politically convenient and engage in it virtually all other times.

Finally watched his speech today. Delivered with all the emotion of a wet rock.

I think back to Obama’s statements after Sandy Hook. That is how a human reacts to people being senselessly murdered.

This president’s lack of compassion in a situation like this is so disheartening. He continues to fail at even the most basic aspects of his job... At being a human being. Being a leader, showing empathy and having resolve to see through to a solution.

A wet rock has more actual compassion than Obama did. And I know I'm judging his thoughts, as you are doing to Trump, but it's all in the POV. Same with racism.

See my post #7. Just a few days prior to this shooting, Trump retweeted a post containing anti-Muslim bigotry from an account that frequently promotes bigotry. His decrying racism and white nationalism is not sincere.

Two groups are demonstrating. Each has ideologies that oppose the other. Your mother and your little sister are in one group. My mother and my little sister are in the other.

Which of us is right in saying there are not at least two good people in the opposing group?

That is all the President said... that there were good people on both sides. Can you show that he said something otherwise in that controversial tweet?

All many of us are doing is just blurting out rhetoric from a heart we have let become awash in hate.
