I feel to post this because someone thinks that I am gossiping about them.

God, I come before You and confess that I am guilty of
murder. Although I may not kill in body, I do so in word. The barbs and
knives in my speech have slain the character of others with precision

You have spoken in Your Word that gossip is characteristic of a evil mind just like murder, GOD-hating, and evildoing. It tears apart the body of CHRIST, and when directed toward nonbelievers, it ruins my testimony and
draws people away from You.

Please forgive me for allowing bitterness and falsity to pass through
the same lips that praise You. I have unwittingly played into the hand of
Satan, the accuser of the brethren. The pain I have inflicted upon others
ultimately pains You as well.

My inability to bridle my tongue has rendered my religion useless. Renew my faith so that my deeds align with my claims. Forgive me for giving
license to gossip and backbiting by idly listening to the unkind words of
others. From this day forward, I determine that my mouth will not sin.

Worst of all, my gossip-mongering has affected my relationship with You. Your Word says that only those who speak the truth in their hearts and
refrain from backbiting may abide in Your tabernacle. Lord JESUS, touch my lips with Your purifying coal and purge me of my sin. I need to be restored into Your presence.

Remove from me the thrill of being "in the know". Give me the courage to shut gossip down when I hear it and to respond to people according to what I know is true. Free me from a poor view of myself that would seek to put others down in order to lift myself up. Rather than pass along bad news, help me to overcome jealousy. Transform me into one who shares good news. Guide my speech toward what is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, honorable, and praiseworthy.

Above all, season my speech with grace, so my words will be a tree of
life and not a tool of death. Fill me with Your love so that I, by nature,
would edify and build up those around me. May this former gossip become a
mouthpiece of Your love and mercy.

In JESUS Name Amen

That was so awesome and very Heartfelt.

I to am guilt of the samething. We sometimes get caught up in situations and gossip. The tongue is a knife and it cuts. Listening to gossip is also dangerous because it associates the listner with the gossip.

Proverbs 26:20, 22

Where there is no wood, the fire goes out: and where there is no talebearer, strife ceases... The words of a talebearer are like tasty trifles, and they go down into the inmost body.

Thank you for the reminder.

Yes, thanks for the reminder.

How often I have to cach myself and shut myself up! And of course, the temptation isn't always only to give gossip but also to listen!

I can't wait for the next life! Being free from all influences of sin and temptation is going to be great!

Something I always watch out for is when I start a sentence with "I'm not being nasty or anything but he ......." - generally, anything after that is gossip and should be held back (at least in my case).

Thanks for the powerful reminder!

Wow! That is a great prayer Altya. It really makes one think twice before they share something between them and another person when it should be between them and God only.

James 3:1-12 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh."

God help us all!

Gossip have no respect for justice, it aim to ‘kill’ a person spiritually. It ruins lives and break hearts where ever it goes.

Gossip is cruel and malicious and the longer the ‘story’ travels the more strength it gets. People tend to believe gossip more than the truth. The victim of gossip is helpless and cannot defend themselves.

It is impossible to trace the origin of gossip, the harder you try the more elusive the story become and when a reputation is ruined its takes years to restore if it’s possible.

Gossip ruins careers and marriages and cause innocent people to cry in their pillows.

If you ever went through a gossip session you will know what I mean, but worst of all is if you are the gossiper.
