People should not treat small things as emergencies anyway. If you asks me ERS should be permitted to asks people to leave if their condition is not bad enough.
...of course they should go away and wait for them to become emergent.

that is what ERS are designed for not your everyday doctors visits and so that is how they should be treated for nothing more and nothing less.

They are also the only healthcare option in this country that is required to treat all comers hence why they get used by those who do not have access to the others for less emergent issues.

Thanks to Obamacare.

Now imagine what it would be like if we had even MORE reforms!

Oh wait, no the GOP is working to destroy Obamacare because too many Americans have access to affordable healthcare!

And that raises the cost for EVERYONE. If I have health insurance but someone else doesn't and they have to use the MOST EXPENSIVE MEANS of getting primary care _I_ end up paying more.

That's why we need to expand healthcare coverage to all Americans.

Don't count your chickens
or goats before they are born.

Medical insurance was better
before Obama messed things up.

So you LIKED pre-existing condition limits on coverage? It was "better" when little kids with horrible diseases hit their "lifetime caps" before the age of 10 and had to go away and die or destroy their entire family's income forever?

Wow...I didn't know how good it was before healthcare reform!

Even the democrats say that ObamaCare is a disaster -- come on.

What did Obama do for you?

It's not what he did for me. Because I am well off and have a good job. It's what he did that helps ME pay less when fewer people use the ER as their primary care. It's what he did for OTHERS that I VALUE.

But then I don't find it horrible when other people are able to get healthcare.

Regardless, someone makes a buck. Sick people are the last great consumers. They must be taken advantage of in the carnal world. Jesus' system would have been called socialist today. lol

that is what I am saying they ought to change that to where they do not have to treat everyone, but only those whose condition warrants emergent care.

Hence making the small problems into large ones that cost even more to remedy only compounding the inefficiency and expense.

but ERS are not meant to be abused like that so they ought to be permitted to kick people out that do not meet certain requirements. ERS were not meant to the no cost basic health care solation.

Agreed. Obamacare is not far enough. It is an insurance-friendly fix. It will always have limitations. Which is why I support single payer.
1 in 5 uninsured is not awful numbers that still means that even without Obamacare the VAST majority of people are covered.

There is an underlying assumption by many here that the US federal government would be better at running and making decisions about the healthcare of our total population.
thank you

Compared to what?

Would it be Ok if only 1 in 5 were starving?

Would it be OK if only 1 in 5 had poor quality air or water?

Why is it OK for 1 in 5 to have no medical coverage?
=============
What should we compare to? It is an open question? Should we compare to other countries?

still not awful numbers less than 1 in 5.

EVERYONE in this country with very few possible exceptions has access to healthcare if they truly need it. That is to say that if someone is currently dying they have access to healthcare.

Hospitals here now have split into emergency (life threatening), and urgent care (patients with non-life-threatening but urgent same-day issues.) The rest are told to go to walk-in clinics. Total out of pocket cost ... parking fees.
