I don’t believe we have the maturity or capacity to walk out every situation. I prefer to be honest with myself and acknowledge my limitations. Truth is better than divorce.

Joni Eareckson Tada is married. She has significant physical challenges. But her husband’s love and grace was greater than the issues she faced. And she was reluctant to get involved.

Not everyone could do what he did or would do so. God equipped him for it. We all have areas of strength and weakness. If I’m not the best option I’d prefer he selects the one who is.

That’s funny, because while reading this thread I thought of a few mail order brides from Abaddon who came in light and left in darkness. The risk of being corrupted by her American "sisters" is unfortunately high.

Having spent most of my life as a youth and an adult around military men who returned to the US with foreign wives, I'll agree that it doesn't take them any time at all to learn to be American women.

I'm not sure why their husbands are surprised by that.

Her story is rare, indeed.

You need a woman who understands the signs of stroke."

A stroke -- if fast and complete -- might be good.

The scenario is but the reasons aren’t. That’s suffering and sacrifice. That’s a man whose all-in.

If you’re not prepared to suffer and make sacrifices for the person you’re considering you need to leave them alone. You‘ll experience both many times.

If the individual isn’t worth the joy and hardship you’ll have a hard time sticking it out. You will allow circumstances to give you an exit. You won’t survive the ‘worst’ because you weren’t committed. That was a conditional yes.

Agape doesn’t keep score. It says we not me. And you’ll know you’re heading in that direction by your response. If challenges drive you to your knees rather than arguments and you’re focused on overcoming instead of blame you’re on His page.

That’s the one you marry.

Of course this guy seems a little weak in the dating area, plus likes his girls 40 years younger than himself.
This can mean someone is trying to use a woman. I think love does not have us trying to use anyone. This means not only one I want to marry, but I love every person first and do not require that anyone do what I dictate. And this can help me to keep in shape for loving my wife :)

Jesus says if we are just in what is least, we will be right in what is a lot (Luke 16:10). So, I think it is wise to always invest in how to love each person, so this keeps me in shape for my wife. And how I learn to love with my wife, the way Jesus has us loving > this can help us for how to love any and all people.

The god of this world really has a hold on so many people and sometimes in secluded ways.
I find how Satan will isolate people with each other, and this can keep them from finding out how to love. We need to share as family with various other children of God. And while we are doing this, possibly we will discover a companion who is all-loving and who relates the way the Bible says to relate >

"submitting to one another in the fear of God." (Ephesians 5:21)

"nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock." (1 Peter 5:3)

But ones say they did not even get to know each other; God had them know, at first sight. Yes, God is able. But if you do go around testing and sniffing . . . you need how only God can make you sure; because there are ones who know how to put on the act you are looking for, how to tone their voices, how to talk the Bible and Jesus.

When I was 18 I asked my father why older men liked younger women. He warned me and told me to avoid them. And I took his advice.
One thing, I have to admit from my own experience, is beauty discrimination. I have been able to gawk at ones who look the way I like. But can a younger one relate maturely in God's love? And if I use younger women just to look at them, this is not loving. I am finding God correcting me that using anyone is not loving.

And I get into such better love, by not using people just to look at them, but care for every one in prayer and be kind to them. After all, among other things, ones maybe have been suffering and embarrassed with the discriminatory attention they get; they need to meet men who care for them and are gentle and humble like Jesus.

My father addressed that. I was reared to be a lady and in my teens my attire reflected their influence. I wore skirts, dresses, and dress pants with a low heel in high school. I was frequenting professionals for my hair, skin and nails. I looked young but very polished and men noticed me.

He saw them looking at me in church and our discussion reflected what many desired from girls my age. He was honest and revealed the pitfalls of involvement. Not solely the physical. But the mental and emotional too. We had little in common from his perspective.

And I get into such better love, by not using people just to look at them, but care for every one in prayer and be kind to them. There are many men who desire trophies. Many whose esteem is tied to the person on their arm. In a healthy relationship we’re assets to one another. My life is bettered by your person. Not solely the external.

I have no issue with men who desire physically attractive women. I like the same in my companion. But his value isn’t wholly centered on that. What I uncover beneath the surface is more meaningful than the wrapping. That’s the cherry on top.

Most strokes are not "fast and complete," most are long and ragged and just leave you crippled. For the majority that won't kill you, quick and correct action will leave you better off.

What does a stroke have to do with a wife...?

Well, this started from Sinbad's comment, "[When you're over fifty] You need a wife who knows the signs of stroke."

Thanks. I think I saw something else in there as well.

Not good with that sorts of things.
If you’re not good at “finding” a wife you might not be ready for one. You should have something to offer and know how to give and receive love.

As a woman in her 40’s I can’t fathom a relationship with someone 20. Our seasons are dramatically different. I would feel like I was exploiting him in some way. Clearly, I’m not a cougar. ;-)

Yeah I never understood that mentality. Why would you want someone so much less mature than you? I typically go for women 5-10 years older than me. Generally a lot more fun to be around and a lot less drama
