Taking one verse out of context does not constitute a doctrine. Indeed there is only one God and no one has said there is not. It is a mystery there is one God in three Person. Christ is God and always has been and always will be as John 1 says the Word was with God and the Word was God and Colossians 2:9 which states quite clearly "For the full content of divine nature lives in Christ, in his humanity"

I don't wish to debate this topic.
I just want to know what people think they will see in heaven.

a) 2 spirits (Father/Holy Spirit), 1 Jesus
b) 1 spirit (Father), 1 Jesus
c) 3 spirits (Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit)

God is a Spirit. Is there 2 Gods. Why is there 2 spirits. Jesus is a God, but not a spirit.

I'm confused.
I'll be back in a couple of hours (Dv), but here's a short video for you to watch in the meantime that I thought you might like, as it is both informative AND very funny. It's mostly about what the Trinity is ~not~.

Enjoy :D

I actually went through a long phase of not getting this, either. In eternity, the Father, Word, and Spirit existed. The Father begat and begets the Son in eternity, and the Spirit proceeded from and proceeds from the Father and the Son eternally.

The Word became flesh. All Three are fully divine, fully God.

In Scripture, God generally refers to the Father. It can refer to the Trinity as well, though.

The one who is sent, or the one who sends.

God the Father sent Jesus.
Jesus is God.
There is one God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

A person should only post in this forum if they accept the Trinity; see the Statement of Purpose at the top of the forum.

"For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many so-called gods and lords), yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we exist. And there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we exist."
1 Corinthians 8:4

Exactly. ONE God, who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth, Genesis 1:1, the Spirit of God hovered over the waters, Genesis 1:2. Then God spoke and the world came into being, Genesis 1:3-5, etc. John tells us that in the beginning was the WORD; the Word was with God and the Word was God. All things were created through the Word, John 1:3. In verse 14 we are told that the Word became flesh. In Colossians 1:16 we are told that all things were created through Christ and that he is before all things.

God created through his Son, who is God, in the power of his Spirit, who is God. There is only ONE God.

Does THE God give himself authority?
Does THE God need power and authority given to Him?
Does God need to be exalted?
Who's greater, the sender or the sent? The begetter or the begotten?
Did Jesus have authority/power to send the Father to die on the cross?

Yes Jesus has a divine nature. But you need to draw a line between terms.
We also have a divine nature, because we are created in the image of God, and we will live eternally ("we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is").

But first, A few Verses for Everyone to consider.

Mat. 23:17 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold,
or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?

Mat. 23:19 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift,
or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?

Luke 22:27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat,
or he that serveth?
Is not he that sitteth at meat?

but I am among you as he that serveth.

John 10:29
My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all;
and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

John 14:28
Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you.
If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father:
for my Father is greater than I.

John 10:30
I and my Father are one.

Rom. 8:3,4
3) For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh,
God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4) That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

John 17:22
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them;
that they may be one, even as we are one:

John 10:38
But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works:

that ye may know, and believe,
that the Father is in me, and I in him.

John 15:5
I am the vine, ye are the branches:
He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit:

for without me ye can do nothing.

John 14:17

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him:
but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

John 14:20

At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father,
and ye in me,
and I in you.

SO, the Son is in the Father
we abide in the Son,

and the Holy Spirit of God Dwells in us.

Hmmmmm.

I don't believe in a Catholic doctrine.
I believe in the Athanasian Creed yet I am not Roman Catholic. It is one of the three ecumenical creeds along with the Apostles, Nicene Creeds. It is confessed by Anglicans, Lutherans, most Reformed bodies (that I am aware of) and others in addition to the Roman church. The word catholic is a word derived from the Greek καθολικός, and meaning ‘general’ or ‘universal’.

The one who is sent, or the one who sends.
Whoever worships the Son worships the Father. I recall Jesus telling off Philip with a similar question

Jn 14:9
Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?

so how can you say who do you worship?

Not sure we can make this exactly comparison. Jesus also states that What you do the the least you did it as unto Him... So if I worship the least, am i worshiping Jesus and the Father?

When you visit those in Jail....When Jesus was in Jail, you visited Him.......So if I now worship those in Jail........

It is best to state Jesus' words as is, and not try and change things up to match our interpretations.

Well, the word "God" in the Bible (with no special indicator) generally refers to God the Father, so it is not unusual for the Bible to speak in this way. I believe Christians who make God's Word (the Bible) their final Word of authority need to double check their Theology at the door by looking at the whole counsel of God's Word (Especially when it comes to understanding the ontology of God).

The Bible teaches that there is one God (Deuteronomy 6:4) (1 Timothy 2:5) (Isaiah 45:5).

Yet, the Bible also teaches that there are distinctions within the Godhead or that there is a plural nature to God.

Here are a couple of quick points:

#1. The word Elohim (אֱלֹהִ֔ים) is both a singular and a plural noun.
#2. God refers to Himself in plural form (Genesis 1:26) (Genesis 3:22) (Genesis 11:7) (Isaiah 6:8).
#3. Plurality of God in New Testament (Matthew 28:19) (2 Corinthians 13:14) (John 14:16-20).
#4. Introductions to both the Son & Holy Spirit (Daniel 7:9-10, Daniel 7:13-14) (John 14:16)
#5. Different persons of Godhead appear at one time (Luke 3:21-22)
#6. Distinctions of Wills (Luke 22:42).
#7. Conversations Between the Godhead (Psalms 2:1-12) (Psalms 45:6-7) (Psalms 110:1) (Matthew 11:27) (John 17:24).

The Trinity is told to us in one verse in the KJV.

“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” (1 John 5:7).

God (who is a singular being) refers to Himself in the plural form (i.e. the different persons of the Godhead or the Trinity) here:

"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." (Genesis 1:26).

Jesus says,

"I and my Father are one." (John 10:30).

While Jesus was fully a flesh and blood man, Jesus was also fully God.
For Jesus had power as God:

#1. Jesus said He has power to raise the dead to life just as the Father had power to raise the dead (John 5:21).
#2. Hebrews 1:3 talks about how Christ held all things together by the word of His power when He purged us of our sins.
#3. Jesus said, He would raise up this Temple (His body) three days later (John 2:19).
#4. Jesus had the power to forgive sins and give eternal life (Mark 2:7) (Luke 7:44-50) (John 14:6).
#5 Jesus had power to take away the sins of the entire world (John 1:29).
#6. Jesus Christ said wherever two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them (Matthew 18:20). This was said to the people he was around and not to just us today.
#7. Jesus knew men's thoughts (Matthew 9:4) (Matthew 12:25) (Mark 2:8) (Luke 5:22) (Luke 6:8) (Luke 9:47) (Luke 24:38).
#8. Jesus knew about the lives of others (John 2:24) (John 4:17-18) (John 4:29) (John 6:64).

The Holy Spirit is called God:

“Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.” (Acts of the Apostles 5:3-4).

The Holy Spirit is on equal level with being God:

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” (Matthew 28:19).

The Holy Spirit can be grieved:

“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” (Ephesians 4:30).

The Holy Spirit can be blasphemed:

“And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.” (Matthew 12:32).

Important Note: Only God can be blasphemed.

The Father Sent The Holy Spirit:
The Bible says that God the Father sent the Holy Spirit. Jesus said.

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you" (John 14:26).

The Father will send the Holy Spirit, not Himself, to help believers.

There Is A Difference Between The Father And The Holy Spirit:
(The Holy Spirit does the will of God the Father): Paul wrote.

"And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will" (Romans 8:27).

Source used for Holy Spirit being distinct from the Father:
Is the Holy Spirit a Distinct Person from God the Father?

Not sure we can make this exactly comparison. Jesus also states that What you do the the least you did it as unto Him... So if I worship the least, am i worshiping Jesus and the Father?

When you visit those in Jail....When Jesus was in Jail, you visited Him.......So if I now worship those in Jail........

It is best to state Jesus' words as is, and not try and change things up to match our interpretations.
the logic you are applying is still violated with or without my statement and you still have a problem that if one worships random people (the least) they are worshiping Jesus. I think the logic you're applying here needs to be revisited. The passage where that's found gives us examples such as if someone is hungry, thirsty, a stranger, sick in jail, etc... none of these are worship driven they are love driven and this is how we should approach it.

in the context of worship, it is reserved for God and God alone. In the context of love, it is open to all (more to what Jesus is referring to). We may worship God by loving those we visit in Jail but even in that context the worship is directed toward God and the love is directed to the person and God because as you pointed out... whatever you do

Yes, God can give Himself authority if a part of Himself (i.e. the second person of the Godhead or the Trinity) humbled himself to be as a man.
The same is true in regards to exaltation.

As for words in the Bible that suggest a hierarchy of the Godhead or the Trinity:

Christians who believe in the Trinity are in disagreement on whether there is a hierarchy. The Bible does appear to suggest this with the words you have brought forth, but this would not be a contradiction of them all coequaling being one entity or God (if all three persons exist and are connected as one God). Even God the Father was reconciling us upon the cross.

19 "For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven." (Colossians 1:19-20).

Jesus, the man was an embodiment of fulness of the Godhead or the Trinity.
By him (the Father) reconciled all things unto himself, including making peace through the blood of the cross. The Father was in Jesus. They are one. The Father was reconciling the world unto Himself.
