Americans have two choices. They can marry a women from this country or they can marry a women from another country. There are lots of women in third world countries looking for an american husband because they hear that in America they can live above the poverty level. Some people think they are gold diggers but not really. They just want food on the table, a roof over their head and shoes on their feet which they do not feel is asking for to much. Usually they are willing to get a job and work. Some of them even have a college education. Long distance dating does have plenty of problems. I am just saying that this is an option that people can consider. The world is filled with women so we do not have to limit ourselves to a short driving distance. We can expand the search to women that live a bit father away from us and increase our chance of finding what we are looking for. If we are prepared to deal with the problems that goes along with that.

There are all sorts of online dating sites you could try. My impression, from knowing about experiences my friends have had, is that you might have to sort through a lot of losers that way but that there are people who did indeed find their 'one and only' in this way.

Anyway, it might help you polish your conversational skills and become more comfortable doing that.

Our neighbor is on his third one of these imports and she has recently filed for divorce. He brought her over here around nine years ago. He paid for her to go to school and bought her all the goodies. Now she wants one of his three houses and is acting very mean towards him.

I remember when he was divorcing #2 (also from the islands) she cost him one house and a ton of money.

Of course this guy seems a little weak in the dating area, plus likes his girls 40 years younger than himself.

From my experience you don't look for one an suddenly they all appear. Kinda annoying really.

You begin with prayer and submission to God. To attract a godly woman you need to embody the same. Utilize your time and work on areas of struggle while you’re waiting. Whether that’s fitness, appearance, communication or bad habits.

You bring all of yourself into marriage. Having the discipline to do some pruning during your time alone will improve your person and alleviate issues later on.

Do bible studies on marriage, take a class and read Christian books for singles and married couples. You need a clear idea of God’s standard and a realistic picture of marital challenges. Connect with the married men in your church and befriend a couple if you can.

You’ll have a better perspective of your responsibilities and the knowledge of how godliness looks for each. Good luck.

Honestly unless I just tripped into a really nice relationship with an awesome woman, in this day and age I don't think I'd go out of my way looking for one. The god of this world really has a hold on so many people and sometimes in secluded ways.

People today make this too complicated, the younger they are it seems the more complicated they make it (no offense intended). When it is the right person, the person God has for you, it falls together. You do not have to try and make it happen.

In 1985 I walked into a convenience store for milk, my future husband was standing there at the register. He told me years later that he knew as soon as he saw me that I was the woman God meant for him to marry. We went out that evening, less than two weeks later we were married, and that was 34 years ago. Still deeply in love and like with each other.

Do not make it so complicated, look at every person you meet, and ask God for His guidance.

When I was 18 I asked my father why older men liked younger women. He warned me and told me to avoid them. And I took his advice.

As a woman in her 40’s I can’t fathom a relationship with someone 20. Our seasons are dramatically different. I would feel like I was exploiting him in some way. Clearly, I’m not a cougar. ;-)

Well, God is not going to drop a woman into your chimney like Santa Clause.

Back in the 70s, there was a popular book by an anonymous writer "M" on how to meet women. It listed places were eligible single women hung out and urged men to go to those places to meet them.

Then another book came out by an anonymous writer "W" on how to meet men. It told women to buy the book by "M" on how to meet women, read the chapter on the places men should go to meet women...and then go there, because those are the places men who are looking for women are going to meet them.

If you're looking for a Godly women you pretty much need to go where the Godly women are most likely to be found. Kind of like fishing in a pond rather than a swimming pool. Well, there might be a fish in a swimming pool somewhere, but it's not going to be a healthy fish, and it's not going to have a friend. That's what it's like to look for a Godly woman at a bar--fishing in a swimming pool.

It's been noted by many observers that church attendance is predominantly female. When I was a teenager, a party with the male:female ratio of most churches would be the very one we'd want to find.

My church has periodic "Singles Nights" explicitly for single men and women in the congregation to meet each other. But the pastor gets frustrated because few men come and those who do just stand on the side like 13-year-old boys.

So one day at the Wednesday men's bible study--which is heavily attended by several hundred men--the pastor asked how many us were single. About 200 men raised their hands. He asked how many would want to marry a good woman. Most of them kept their hands up. "Then why didn't you go to last week's Single's Night? They're all Christian...just pick one!"

Well, that was a remark of exasperation, but there is this thing I've discovered true that I've mentioned before:

Any Spirit-filled Christian man can be a satisfying mate to any Spirit-filled Christian woman, and vice versa.

We have our heads filled with all kinds of pagan thoughts about what kind of mate to choose, but forget that when the writer of Proverbs said, "Rejoice in the wife of your youth...may her breasts satisfy you always," he was talking about an arranged marriage.

Even if the marriage were arranged, the Lord expects any Spirit-filled Christian man to be a satisfying mate to any Spirit-filled Christian woman, and vice versa.

Get involved in your congregation. Serve as the Lord as given you a gift to serve, and do it as much as you can. Let yourself meet a woman there--just pick one--and get to know her head and heart.

That’s funny, because while reading this thread I thought of a few mail order brides from Abaddon who came in light and left in darkness. The risk of being corrupted by her American "sisters" is unfortunately high.
