Since I have trouble talking to loud when I pray, is is okay to ask God to read my mind instead of praying in a audible voice? I also have a problem of talking to myself which I want to stop.
It gets to be like droning sometimes lol. But funny, sometimes I really like being alone reading scripture out loud, I find that invigorating, probably because it's not generated by me !I usually pray with my mind, not my lips. I hate my voice! Lol. Plus, i find if i pray audibly i cant stop yawning!
God knows our prayers. He knows our minds.
It's fine for people who do not have the ability to speak, and God does not show favoritism.Since I have trouble talking to loud when I pray, is is okay to ask God to read my mind instead of praying in a audible voice? I also have a problem of talking to myself which I want to stop.
They say to allow the Holy Spirit to pray through us to give us utterance.Since I have trouble talking to loud when I pray, is is okay to ask God to read my mind instead of praying in a audible voice? I also have a problem of talking to myself which I want to stop.
Hi Michael, I'm not quite following you on this one, would you mind elaborating a bit?Utterance ... actions speak loudly ...
The post before mine was referring to a passage about the importance of utterance, so the concept of actions speaking for you is useful if you would rather "your words be few"Hi Michael, I'm not quite following you on this one, would you mind elaborating a bit?
Thanks!

Do you mean "pray w/o ceasing" should include the things we ~do~ in Christ, not just prayer itself, that (in a very poetic sense) our entire life should be a prayer to Him?The post before mine was referring to a passage about the importance of utterance, so the concept of actions speaking for you is useful if you would rather "your words be few"
It's kind of like how the sign of the cross is a prayer. Anything can be a prayer or act of worship. This is probably what was meant by praying without ceasing, re: Romans 12.Do you mean "pray w/o ceasing" should include the things we ~do~ in Christ, not just prayer itself, that (in a very poetic sense) our entire life should be a prayer to Him?
If so, I think I agree with that .. except where our words are absolutely necessary, of course, for ourselves and/or for others .. cf Romans 10:9-15; 1 Peter 3:15.

Romans 10
14 How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?
17 Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

Hopefully you are talking to God when you pray...not yourself.I also have a problem of talking to myself which I want to stop.
That reminded me of a Keith Green songSo basically my prayer should be I may not pray much so make my life a testimony and witness to God.
