I'm just going to make an observation, because it's something I notice men often seem oblivious to.

When men wear shorts, it can be just as - ah, distracting - to the ladies present, as women in an "immodest" hemline can be for the men.

No...that's silly talk : )

We should treat the rest of the world with the same respect and care with which we treat God's people.
Agreed... but God is always first and highest above all. And anything connected to Him should be treated with reverence... not like the rest of the world.

But for those of us who are in God's presence daily it is just another day. All days should be holy'
God set a day aside and it points to things that have not happened yet. I don't care what day of the week you think that is... it should be treated differently and always has been, historically, until this modern western revolution.

In terms of dress as in anything else, older men and women should be setting an example to the younger less mature Christians not just binding their freedom of choice with a dress code. But I suspect in most places where dress codes are enforced it is the older people who consider certain styles unacceptable and set the rules.

I have a calling to fashion. One of the things I’ve noticed in this thread and discussions regarding attire is the absence of grace. We’re quick to condemn and tell others what’s inappropriate instead of setting examples in silence.

You may notice the clothing but what holds your attention is the godliness you see exhibited in their behavior and speech. That’s the person whose most likely to influence others. Not the one wagging a finger or feeling smug in their truth. Nobody listens to them.

So you honestly and truly believe that you'll be the first person since Enoch and Elijah to not physically die?
No. One of the few since, not the only. Not all who are translated, end up in popular books. We prefer to not be mentioned at all.

But this way is not easy....you must understand death and it's power, or lack thereof, before you are ok with seeing everyone you love "die."......

How do you make it different apart from going to church?

That is so true. Dress codes per se should be unnecessary in a Christian environment.

Can you let me know of someone who never died physically and how you know?

And do you attend a local church?

Coming to him in the heart has nothing to do with clothing. But once we come to him... we are to congregate with other believers and with him. Should that day/time be special, different than other days and gatherings with non-believers?
Yes!
"By this everyone will know you are my disciples, if you love one another."

Meaning love from all who believe, towards everyone present, unlike the mixed situations outside.

That's for real, folks. These words aren't just for appearances.

The only way this would be worth continuing with, is if you will be willing to try and know for yourself. Telling you I'm 1000 years old and you believing me does nothing for you or me.

We have enough cults you said....I do not wish for you to believe in me.....but only in the one who sent me......

The bible says when you are sick, call for the elders..... The ones able to lay hands on the sick and have them recover, are in the house of the Lord.... so why keep the sick out?

That would be like the world saying, when sick, dont go to the hospital because the people there fear being made sick themselves.

We should not fear sickness or disease....for we are healed....and healthy.

Seriously, this season people are dying of flu in high numbers, and churches are full of elderly and frail people. Call for the elders, sure, let them visit you at home; but it is not loving your fellow-congregants to expose them to whatever virus you've picked up. If you're really sick, stay home.

Not heels, but a nice pair of pants, shirt and formal shoes. I don't think that's too much, personally. If anything it's really comfortable too!

See, I'd call that "business casual." Business formal would require at minimum a jacket as well (a tie for the gentlemen).

That is shocking. Ridiculous. And I am sorry, Silverback.

I'm over it now, that was many years ago, I was attending services alone in those days, around 9-14 maybe. I am with a different denomination now, and we don't have those problems (probably have other problems, but church attire is not one of them) Thank you for your kind words.
