His dwelling is in his people not in buildings. And wherever I am when I worship it is with the angels and saints. They are not confined to buildings made with human hands.

To many branches of the church seem to want to curtail that freedom by imposing their own rules and regulations about all sorts of things and even about the way we dress to attend meetings. Jesus did not impose these restraints on us so if you are in any doubt after reading the posts on this thread, please do not get bound up in the views of some folk who think we should adhere to dress codes to please God.

I am not saying we should not admit people who are not wearing tie and a suit, I remember that as a college student, I didn't have the money to get a suit so I wore a shirt/polo shirt, jeans, and casual shoes. When I was obligated to get a suit for college senate, I was able to wear it to church.

You have your views and I have mine. Did Jesus have a 'best' outfit do you think? Or his followers? He sent them out in just what they stood up in. It is more important that our hearts and minds are clean and pure rather than what we wear.

In my church only one elderly man wears a suit. All the other men, elderly or otherwise come in sweater and shirts, slacks or jeans and most of the ladies wear trousers, jeans, dresses or skirts.

Well, I am not sure because they were probably poor or maybe they weren't, but I don't see anywhere in the Bible that says we are free to wear whatever we want.

I believe if it useless to wear fine clothes if your heart isn't in the right place but I assume everyone should know that here.

Read 1st and 2nd Corinthians, Galatians, Hebrews, Ephesians, 1 John and 2 John, 1 Peter and 2 Peter,
if you want them.

Like I said, "clothed in Scripture", lots of Scripture , all in harmony with no contradiction.

Everyone who has read through the Bible has seen them all. (or read them all, perhaps)

I'm not sure now if she has read the Bible at all ...... it seems curious to think that any believer could ever do whatever they wanted to do,
not knowing they will be judged for everything they do.

Well, the queen and royalty get to keep their dignity and their jobs much easier,
if
they wear what is required properly at all times.

It doesn't help their heart at all, but it is not 'useless' in the pagan world.

I disagree that they could wear their best if possible, but it is not my church so I try not to judge them.

I don't see anywhere in the bible where it says we aren't free to wear what we want. Why are we not free to wear what we want. What would you wear if you wore what you wanted? I wear what I want and it's usually something pretty and feminine and modest. And I would wear the same clothes on a Sunday as any other day. I don't understand why wearing what we want is not acceptable.
