“Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us
in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.” (Ephesians 1:4)

“For God saved us and called us to live a holy life.” (2 Timothy 1:9)

“God’s will is for you to be holy … live in holiness and honor …
God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives.
So, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is rejecting God.”
(1 Thessalonians 4:3-8)

“God has given us everything we need to live a godly life
... work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen
... It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness
than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life”
(2 Peter 1:3, 1:10, 2:21)

“God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness.
… work at living a holy life, for those who are NOT holy will NOT see the Lord
… Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking.”
(Hebrews 12:10-25)

Believers have been chosen and called to be sanctified (set apart for holiness).
This means they are called to CHOOSE to live holy consecrated lives!
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, believers CAN live holy lives.

“He chose them to become like his Son (i.e. righteous and holy)” (Romans 8:29)

“… work towards complete holiness because we fear God” (2 Corinthians 7:1)

“… teach them to know the truth that shows them how to live godly lives.” (Titus 1:1)

“… throw off your old sinful nature … Put on your new nature,
created to be like God – truly righteous and holy.” (Ephesians 4:22-24)

“For I want you to understand what really matters,
so that you may live pure and blameless lives” (Philippians 1:10)

“He did this to present her (the church) to himself as a glorious church
without spot or wrinkle or any other blemish.” (Ephesians 5:27)
.

to which you replied
'Yes of course. But don't forget we are commanded go out and spread the Gospel.'

"But don't forget...." , AS IF what we are commanded to do, is somehow different or prevented by "LIVE holy lives!" .....

Give an example if you know one, where we are commanded to go out and spread the Gospel,
and how that relates to your idea of LIVE holy lives ?

Thanks.
Shalom.

The above is your assumption based on pure fabrication. Notice the OP title and that I confirmed such and also reminded of our duties to speaking the Word of God to all nations. I did not make it exclusive but inclusive of the holiness we are called to do.

I didn't assume anything.

I asked why you posted something the way you did ?

With the proposition "But ...." , it seemed you were saying the first could not be done if what follow the "But.... " was accomplished.

Is that akin to "feed the poor, use food if necessary?" ;)

Most everyone on earth has heard the gospel message. What is needed are real-life examples. ;)

It does not look like we have gotten into what it actually means to "live holy".

And what do we need, in order to live holy?

We're saying to do it, but what do we mean?

And what do we need, in order to live holy?
We're saying to do it, but what do we mean?
Does "practice righteousness" make it any clearer?
Will the following help, or would you prefer to see a dozen more?

“Little children, let no one deceive you.
He who practices righteousness is righteous,
just as He is righteous … In this the children of God
and the children of the devil are manifest:
Whoever does NOT practice righteousness is NOT of God,
NOR is he who does NOT love his brothers and sisters.”

(1 John 3:7-10)

"EK-"
as in Ekklesia ....

called out ones, set apart ones by the Father

The Father is not of this world, but is "set apart" === "holy"

The Father's People are required to be "set apart", "holy". He gives no alternative option.

The disciples are commanded by Jesus to be "perfect" (NOT the English word) ..... doing all they can, all the time, as His bond-slaves,
< like a 'perfect' football player is one who does all the plays correctly, without too many mis-steps >

"called out ones, set apart ones by the Father
positional sanctification -- God sets the believer apart to be sanctified unto holiness!
progressive sanctification -- the process of free-will co-operation ...
between the Holy Spirit and the believer to be sanctified unto holiness!
