Are you certain that you are saved?
The words are different (in the original, not even in English),
but multitudes will hear on Judgment Day "bye bye",
when they were sure they were saved while alive on earth, they weren't.

I trust in God's mercy for me and for all. He is Lord, the eternal. What I find depressing is some christians think they actually know, when they do not. I hope for the savation for all men, and pray for that.

This depth of judging is forbidden to us, Jesus said that.

Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. (Matthew 7:1-2)

Jesus is talking about judging the soul of another, since each soul is beloved of God, only God sees the depths of the heart. Yes, we can judge an action, but we are all sinners and hope for mercy. When we judge another soul, we are denying mercy to them in our hearts. However, I am sure you love and pray for all......you are after all a man of God.

In any case, believe what you want on the issue. I will continue to pray for the salvation of all, and leave the rest up to God's infinite mercy. Those who are lost, actually want it, it is not an accident. Also, Jesus does not say bye bye to the lost, he still loves them, it is they who hate him. For lthem to go to be in his presence would be worse than hell......so to say that he does not care about all of his chlildren makes a mockery of his life.

Peace

You sound like a true philanthropist, who loves people, which is a great gift from God. I like you pray for everyone to be saved. I know it probabably won't be that way, but still it's my prayer. I agree that God has the last saying on the matter, not men, but God.

I know I'm saved because I believe. And I know that I could not believe had God not saved me. Those who think God saved them because they believe have only their flesh to trust in. They must keep a believing mindset or be lost.

You can find threads to back up any stance on works, who is saved, whether we are once saved always saved. The cancel each other out. I believe they are non-questiona, a waste of time. We are not supposed to know, but to trust, for indeed Union-With-God, it is a gift from God.....can't be earned in any way.......yet we must strive always.

We all belong to the priesthood of the faithful, so the Holy Spirit prays with us. The desire of many Christians to pray for the salvation of all, is the Spirit leading us.

Peace

We have to ponder..... The one who are turn away the gate saying "Havent I cast out demons in your name etc...." What answer would they give now....to this question?

To be deceived you must know without doubt, that you know the truth, dismissing everything contrary to your truth... What answer would that Deceived person give to a question of this nature?

Now what answers to we give....and if I were to say "YES, I know!" how would I be different from the two types of people listed above?

Are you certain that you are saved?
While we are in the flesh it is difficult to be 100% sure of our position with our Creator but we can be 100% sure that He wants us all back with Him in paradise through the restorative work of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. After all, He came specifically for sinners.
Blessings

Are you certain that you are saved?
Yes.

Because like Paul before me:

"...I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me." 2 Timothy 1:12

and

"...I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you (me) will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:6

There are many who simply don't believe that Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. They do not believe that He is the one Who began the good work. They do not believe that salvation is by grace through faith. They think that it is by their own works that they began the road to glorification.

There are many who simply do not believe that they are save and will be forever. They do not believe that they have passed from death to life and will never again come into condemnation. They do not believe that they are even now, raised up and seated with Christ in Heaven.

They believe instead that they will, hopefully, be saved some time in the future if they "cooperate" with God well enough in this life.

On the day they meet the Lord face to face they will point to their many good works and or their exemplary Christian life wherein Jesus was their "Lord". He will tell them plainly that He "never" knew them.

Many (regardless of their having made Jesus "Lord") simply have not trusted the work of Jesus on their behalf as their only hope of salvation.

It seems that they have never been born again.

Many lack faith and without faith it is impossible to please God.

Threads like this usually bring to the surface those who have justifying faith and those who do not.

It's completely understandable that some born again Christians 'can have doubts about their salvation from time to time. God is the one who will finally sort us out and tell us whom He has and has not "known".

But listen very carefully to what is said here. Those who are simply having some understandable doubt at this time and those who have never been born again will seem readily apparent IMO.

I voted other. I know for certain that I 'm born again. I'm not dead yet (obviously) and haven't faced judgement, and don't anticipate falling away. Currently of course I'd be excluded from communion with the Christian majority and considered a heretic so wouldn't qualify as saved by a majority of Christians.

According to Scripture, it is time for righteous judgment to begin in the house of God.
i.e. all Ekklesia ought to be judged today, as written, so that we won't be judged later (much more severely, perhaps eternally).

We will not be totally certain until we die. We are on a Salvation journey and have hope by finishing the race, fighting the good fight

We won't know until the first resurrection and that don't happen until the Lord returns.

2 thousand years ago, they were waiting for Christ as well.....and when He was in front of them....They dismissed Him, to wait for the Christ that is more closely like the one they interpreted from scripture.....coming in a manner more aligned with their interpretation of scripture.

I've never heard this before. We are being judged today so that we don't have to face final judgement?

It is written , probably several times, OT < TORAH > PROPHETS, and PSALMS,
and NT >
"judge yourselves so that you will not be judged later. "
Realize that if you see a brother sinning, and save him by warning him , you may save his soul from death.
Those who are given and see the Father's judgment (the right judgment), that is what is needed,
not everyone in the room deciding for themselves what is right or true in judgment -
just like in the assembly, it is given to the elders to decide what doctrine and teaching to hold to and practice, not for all the members to decide (as if they could or were supposed to) - that would be chaos and disorder and error ....
so the right judgment, as Yahuweh (God) says in His Light / in His Word, must be practiced, as written ,
not wrong judgment nor judgment in error nor in darkness.

Oh I see what your saying. Judgement in that sense is more like what some call 'discernment' as opposed to God's final 'Depart from Me' or hopefully "Well Done Good and Faithful Servant' final judgement. Most born again Christians, after reading the bible, I would hope will have discernment. Whether or not we live up to what we know to be Right is a different issue, but our consciences should eventually convict us, elder or no, I would think.

Yahuweh gave us a conscience (whether all people start with one or not, I don't know),
to warn us appropriately,
just as in Romans 2 - those who DO WHAT IS RIGHT, are justified, showing that Yahuweh has written TORAH on their hearts (i.e. they are guided and corrected by their conscience and in line with TORAH) ....

I don't think "discernment" comes from reading the Bible, but maybe it does some ?
Each person must choose to obey Yahuweh(God), follow Jesus, or not.
When they hear His Voice, and Follow Him, they will not follow another but will run from any other besides Jesus.
Few are taught to always do what is right, and sadly multitudes are taught all over the world NOT to do what is right (on this forum/site we are on also).

The best answer in the last 2000 years that I saw effective: "Follow Jesus"

"behold, a greater than Jonas is here"

Matthew 12:38-42

The Sign of Jonah

38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees told Jesus,“Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”

39 But he replied to them, “An evil and adulterous generation craves a sign. Yet no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah, 40 because just as Jonah was in the stomach of the sea creature for three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.

41 The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment and condemn the people living today, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah. But look—something greater than Jonah is here! 42 The queen of the south will stand up and condemn the people living today, because she came from so far away to hear the wisdom of Solomon. But look! Something greater than Solomon is here!”
