As I have been studying and learning more about prayer in the bible I have become convinced that it is better for us to pray together as Christians than alone. I have been meeting with people at my church to pray with and have been very encouraged by that to find more. I believe the scripture that says:

19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. (Mathew 18)

As I was asking the Lord to show me how to better be able to do this I was introduced to the idea of praying over the phone. And as I began to think about it I realized that distance does not matter in prayer. All the stories of family members being woken by the Lord in the night or suddenly burdened to pray for a specific loved one at the exact moment they needed it even if they were on the other side of the world. I really think it is not the distance that matters as it is the unity that matters. Praying about the same thing at the same time.

My hope is to find people who would want to pray regularly so that we could come together before God in prayer over the phone and agree together in prayer about whatever requests we both have. And keep coming back to pray together persistently until we see God work in whatever matters we are bringing to Him.

John 16

Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Please reply or message me if interested. No matter where in the world you may be.

God bless

Mike

There is the prayer when the local congregation assembles.

There is prayer in small groups, such as with your family.

And there is also individual prayer while you are alone. Jesus said, "Pray to your Father in secret."

The NT speaks of all 3.

God knows all your needs, before it enters your mind, before you open your mouth, so prayer is to be terse and to the point, not necessarily needing assistance from others. Also prayer from a righteous person in reverent submission, i.e. pure in heart and fearful, is heard over many prayers from lesser ungodly people. Hence 'intercessory prayer', 'in Jesus name' leveraging the Lord's intercession in asking / petitioning requests to the Father.

See Matthew 6,

"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."

See James 5,

"Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins."
(Js. 5:13-20)

See Hebrews 5,

"(The Lord) Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;" (Heb. 5:7-8)

Hi, I think what you are refering to is corporate prayer. But having said that happy to pray with you. When you are praying you are joining millions around the world that are also offering their prayers to God therefore I think we are never alone when we offer our prayers to God. I wonder if it would be possible to have a link by msn or messenger and pray that way or a link through this site to a prayer room. Decide on a topic and then join you in that room to pray in turn and for each other. I remember what Jesus promised us: that when two or three are gathered that he would be there in the midst of us.
God bless you as you seek to find more prayer partners to pray with.

Hi Mike,
After setting an intent, and unless I do a rosary, I'd rather pray in silence but I do believe in group prayers and I welcome your initiative.

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Of course! That doesn't mean we cannot have even more power by praying together.

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.
I understand this verse as meaning we should not show off. In my understanding, this is a matter of attitude, not a indication that we shouldn't pray together:
"For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20)

I really think it is not the distance that matters as it is the unity that matters
Of course, Jesus is not bound by distance so we don't need to be in the same place.
Maybe setting up a date and time would help gather more people? Maybe also use free conference call services?

I am willing. You can post your prayer through conversation post. I will agree with you in prayer. If I disagree, I hope you wouldn’t mind godly correction. If you don’t mind, I will make suggestion. Looking forward for your post.
