I am bumping up this thread - it had some interesting comments in it (and it's almost been exactly a year since someone posted in it).
As of right now - with the help of Christian Gedge - I think there's a repeating pattern where God allows satan to be "loosed for a little while" in order for people to see the comparison of a counterfeit diety compared to God. It's difficult to say if we're in the time of "loosing" or the time of "binding" but I tend to believe we're in a time of binding. I read this quote this morning and see it as relevant:
Quoting from Kim Riddebarger's site (regarding Rev 13):
"John’s point is that when empowered by the dragon, the state oversteps its bounds and deifies itself and/or its leader. As Caird puts it, “all political power is the gift of God; but when men deify the state, either directly by a religious cult or indirectly by demanding for it the total loyalty and obedience that is due to God alone, it ceases to be human and becomes bestial” (Caird, The Revelation of St. John, 162).
What is in view then is primarily an anti-christian power, centered in the seat of government, using the resources of that government against Christ’s church in an effort to thwart the preaching of the gospel." ~
Riddleblog - The Latest Post - The Counterfeit Trinity of Revelation 13 -- Amillennialism 101
K. Riddlebarger does a pretty good job in his series "Amillennialism 101" for the most part. I'm not in agreement with him trying Emperor Domitian and his persecution of the church into his eschatology... particularly Revelation.
In my study of Revelation I find too judgements to be the main thrust...the judgement of Jerusaslem/Israel...and the "great white throne judgement.
I believe we're in the 1000 year reign...which is figurative of Christ reigning since His resurrection. In this time period, we Christians can see Revelation as a pattern of how we are to walk in the world, as history has shown us great times of persecution of the church in the past and on more to come until Christ returns.

But according to
Revelation 20:6, those who reign with Christ for 1,000 years are those who have experienced the first resurrection, which is the resurrection that raises those who believe, from death in sin to life in Christ (
John 5:24;
Ephesians 2:1). That has now been occurring for almost 2,000 literal years, and will continue until Christ returns. Thus the 1,000 years in
Revelation 20 already encompass almost 2,000 literal years; and therefore the number "1,000" does not represent literal years.
I am both Amill and Partial Preterist
I view 1st century Jerusalem in Revelation and why I am Partial Preterist and Amill.
Would it be fair to say that perhaps the 1st part of Reve 11:18 is concerning
the wrath/judgement on Jerusalem and it's people
and the 2nd part of the verse is
the GWT after Gog Magog? Thoughts?
Luke 21:23
“But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!
For there will be Great Distress in the land and
wrath<ὀργὴ <3709> upon this people.[Revelation 11:18]
Revelation 11:18 "2nd Woe passed, dead judged, reward the Saints"
Rev 11:18 - The nations were angry and
came Thy wrath< ὀργή<3709>, [Luke 21:23/ wrath upon Jerusalem/Judea.."1000yr" period starts]
And the time/season<2540> of the dead to be judged, [Gog Magog and the GWT Judgement at end of 1000yrs?]
And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints,
And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy<1311> those who destroy<1311> the land.”
