I want to correct myself. While I wasn't necessarily wrong with the first post I made in this thread, I should add that the best way to learn about ministry (or any other field) for that matter is to put yourself in the midst of the practice itself. Only reading about things leaves out that experiential element that you can only get from digging in with hands and feet. So my exhortation to you is to go the deep end and jump in!

If you aren't called to be a Pastor or serve as a leader in ministry, why otherwise do you think you're interested in learning about it?
One does not need to be a pastor to do pastoral ministry. It's really life changing to work in the pastoral field: I know several people working on it and their insights and work are worthy of reflection.

If possible, go for a Doctorate in Ministry. If not, I'm sure there are many good resources out there. The field is very wide and there's a lot to do, and a lot of areas to explore.
