When Taylor Swift published her first album.
Yeah. I mean, at least the guys she was angry with were usually anonymous in her songs. Not publicly shaming them as is the norm lately.

Well, I would say that fragile, short time when the colonists and Native Americans actually lived together peaceably for the most part. There were go-betweens from the Europeans and Native Americans who met together and made treaties to try to live in harmony.

In Pennsylvania one reason there isn't a huge Native American population today is because many of them ended up intermarrying with the colonists as a result of the general peace between them. Some also did move west (long before the Trail of Tears happened) and of course there were kidnappings and massacres and conflicts between them and the settlers eventually.

But for a short time in the 1730's, there was a time of relative peace between them and the settlers. Treaties were respected and land was only bought legally. It was the French and Indian War that really destroyed this relationship - when the French convinced some tribes to side with them against other tribes who had sided with the British. Relationships were never the same after that, and not surprisingly treaties were subsequently ignored and conflicts got worse until (in Pennsylvania at least) there were no longer any full-blooded Native Americans in the state.

So a brief period of the 1730s is it?

I was going to let the person who wanted to answer the question determine that.

What would you suggest?
How about starting with agriculture....my guess is that very few people know much about that.....an opportunity to learn.

FYI, I revised my OP and added suggestions toward the end of it.

It may be trivial, but America had the greatest style in the 50s. Just a sample:

I think that putting some of us on the moon several decades ago qualifies as America being great. The society as a whole certainly wasn't at the time, but it did help to construct a belief among many that it was an ideal worth pursuing and one in which many different segments of the population contributed toward.

I suppose that's true in a sense, but this perspective is leaving out a lot of ugly American history.
Okay, but you're the one who started this thread and I'm replying to your OP. You didn't ask about ugly American history, and I trusted that your question was in good faith.

I apologize for replying like that. I've edited my response to you because I didn't keep to my initial decision to not counter what another member wrote. I guess old habits die hard and all that.

I was in college in the 80's. I loved being there at the time but in retrospect the 80's got a lot of stuff wrong....like really wrong....

I really don't see how that picture illustrates your point.

The entire premise of my thread is to name a time in American history when America was great.
Was there a time , ever, when the companies, corporations, and foreign government powers directing actions in America
were not greedy ?

(sort of asking to clarify - could any country be "great" if the money directors bringing changes all the time in the country are motivated by profit (greed) instead of by the Creator? )

Perhaps some remnant in the country was right at some time ? But I don't think any remnant that is right thinks of themselves as "great", since being right would also mean being humble , right ?

We have food to eat, a roof over our heads, abundance of available material goods, and internet to waste away the time of day. America is still great!
There is also the Biblical view, which is quite different I think (about what 'great' is) >
The believers in the persecuted church in China, without enough food to eat some days, sometimes without a roof over their heads, with no abundance of available material goods, and without freedom to use the internet, are better off (and they know it and they have been praying for us for a century at least, probably longer) ....

The future.

But no seriously... What kind of outlook would I have if I thought America's best days were behind us? What a depressing view of the world.
Perhaps a realistic view of the world is , for most people, depressing....

I beg to differ. The Aston-Martin is kinda cool. But the Ford is just a Ferrari wannabe. Neither have the flair of a '58 Imperial Crown convertible.

There's always a lot of things going on at the same time in the country. Every Era has its moments of greatness and moments of ugliness . I don't think there's ever been a moment of greatness for everyone at the same time.
Remember the "moment" when everyone alive on earth was not at war , and they all believed in the Creator Yahuweh(God) ? (all at the "same time" :) )
