Actually the issue of overpopulation can be related to Islam which is growing not because of conversion but for children. Since you are from India, I read than in 50 years, India will be the country with the most Muslims, even more than Indonesia

In Genesis 1:28, God commands his faithful adherents to be fruitful and multiply, which is to say have lots of kids: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or even 10 children. Being fruitful and multiplying by having a big family is all well and good, but at what point ought the world start reproducing less frequently? The UN estimates that the world population will reach 11 billion people by 2100, and the growth of humanity won’t cease unless something catastrophic happens such as mass starvation or a disease epidemic. You can view the source here: Projections of population growth - Wikipedia
It is not written in Genesis that you should have 4 - 10 children. You cannot multiply your grain crop 4 - 10 times in a generation can you? It would be difficult to increase auto production 4 - 10 times in 35 years. Oil supplies will likely be pumped dry. John the Baptist’s parents had one child. Jesus did not have any children, yet he taught a multitude. India is poorer for all her children than Europe where women usually had less than 3 children.

First off, that was ancient Israel he was speaking to. He had a tremendous interest in them multiplying quickly. His interests in procreation today is not quite the same. This isn’t to say he doesn’t want godly people making babies. He does.

I did not read your article. But if it says we are headed towards overpopulation it is as fake as anything on this earth is fake. We are heading towards a demographic depopulation disaster. We need 2.1 children per female just to maintain current population. Let me give you some numbers by memory. So forgive any inaccuracies. They are mostly right.
China 1,5, Europe 1.5. India just dropped to 2.1 and trending down quickly. N America 1.7 native population, 2.4 including new immigrant babies. Brazil 1.4, Central America 2.1
Japan decreases by a million people last year. Projected to go from 120 to 80 million this century sometime. Trending down everywhere including Africa. Only place that has seen a turn around is Israel.

Just more fake news like man made global warming. The future is neither going to be godless or dystopian. That is false prophecy.

Ironically, I’ve lived both, a poor life and a rich life in the America, as well as in India.

After I’m born again, I’ve experienced and noticed the truth in the below verse, irrespective of where I lived.

The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it. Proverbs 10:22

@LaBèlla @Tone @charsan @Pooja Sadhu

Wish I was rich because I never have experienced that verse. I have much sorrow right now with my health problems

May be, may be not. Peoples religion is not constant. They intermarry and swap here and there, except for some.

I believe you're misinterpreting that text. Being fruitful and multiplying isn't just having lots of children, but it also means to be spiritually fruitful and multiply, that is, witnessing and telling the good news so that many will believe. Otherwise, Jesus and Paul would not have commended singleness as a good state for us to be in.

I’ve stood on that verse for years and seen its outworking in my life. Nevertheless, I wasn’t always walking with Christ during that time. But I still received many blessings nonetheless. I don’t equate riches with money alone. Wealth without the others is lacking in my opinion.

I am spiritually blessed with the Lord’s presence and delighted with my purpose and mission.
I am physically blessed with good health and no ailments. I’ve been healed from two incurable diseases.
I am mentally blessed with a sound mind and peace of mind.
I am emotionally blessed with a heart free of unforgiveness and bitterness and filled with love, joy, and contentment.
I am financially blessed and prosperous. I am the lender not the borrower. He has made me the head and not the tail. And His favor rests upon me to establish the work of my hands.

I intentionally placed money last. I was in that position before I came to Christ. God’s mercy and favor were resting upon me while I sought Him in other faiths.

I have studied and practiced many. Including Hindu and Buddhist traditions. That didn’t prevent Him from leading me to the employer that would fill my coffers or giving me immense favor with my boss.

And as others mentioned, there are many living in different conditions. Some who’ve walked with the Lord their entire lives.

I have a rich heritage of believers on both sides. That may have been my saving grace during my wilderness. The fervent prayers of the righteous avails much. And they never stopped praying. :)
Thank you for sharing a bit of your life testimony, LaBella! It is encouraging to me because I pray for certain lost people all the time but often wonder if frequent prayer actually makes any more difference than a single prayer. I believe it does, but I'm not sure how that quite works from God's side of things... Just today I was thinking I hadn't prayed for one person in particular lately that I had been praying and fasting for constantly, and I told myself it wouldn't make a difference regardless. Well, I'm going to get back into my fervent prayer for him again.

As far as rich people in America and America being mostly Christian and all Christians guaranteed to be rich... Well, all I have to say to this subject is that living by God's standards will earn you a good reputation in the eyes of others - saved or not saved. And that reputation will very possibly earn you money done the road as you are promoted in companies or friends and family hire you for odd jobs knowing you're dependable. It's obvious when you compare those who aren't Christans to those who are. Their lifestyles affect their work whether or not they're willing to admit it. Drinking late at night and in a terrible mood the next morning, suffering a hangover and calling in sick the next day (or not even calling), sleeping around with other people's girlfriends and boyfriends (or even spouses) and then getting into legal trouble or child custody issues which calls them away from their job to attend court appearances and meet with lawyers... I mean, only a very foolish boss would want people with those kinds of issues overseeing important company matters. In contrast, a genuine Christian may seem like a godsend to the company.

Its a truth.. God said it.. our choice.. listen do or not.

See its not going to ever be "to many". The word makes it clear. If time was not shorten.. ALL man would die. Read the word 1/3 here dead, 1/3 there dead. Thats coming. What God said wrote will happen.

I think me and my wife should have done what the word said. Thats ME not her. What ever she wanted.. is what we have..2. God never said a word. We did obey..

Hello, I know I am rather late to party on this, and I apologize if thread necromancy goes against forum rules but I really think this needed to be said in depth on this subject when I first came across while looking for resources for college papers 4 weeks back and now college is done so now.

First, the Bible Verse is referring to physical, not spiritual multiplication (how would you spiritually multiple? It leads to a lot awkward questions I doubt anyone could answer in a way that makes sense, and no recruitment does not count in this case), and it is very likely by extension the same goes for fruitfulness (you can disagree on that, either way multiplication is physical). Also this was not referring to Christians or Jews in particular, this was Gods mandate to Humanity as whole before the fall, and that rule is practically hotwired into us and is what we normally strive to do as human beings. The fact that God knew we needed it written out to demonstrate that it is a good thing is actually rather sad and shows how far we have fallen(also it does not give a number on how many children to have, so it doesn’t have to be ten, if this is a relationship question just write it out in another forum clearly your among friends here).

Also let’s take into account that Hebrew word for earth actually means dirt (like in most languages) as in the stuff most planets are at least partially made of, and the gathering/ sorting of the earth and waters prior in chapter is vague enough that it could be referencing more than just this Earth. Given that one can make an argument, admittedly not the strongest, we are far from filling the earth since we are stuck on one little island of it in a vast archipelago. However given that it is a weak argument, mostly due to the creation of sky, let me throw in more current reasons why I am fairly sure God wants us looking to space for new worlds to colonize, if God didn’t want us to colonize space we would not have gone to the moon and people like Elon Musk would not be finding increasingly cheap ways to make spaceships, we wouldn’t have people interested in going to space actually getting there cause God wouldn't let them just like he didn't let Adam and Eve back into the garden or the Tower of Babel get built.

Second all the overpopulation worries are based on Thomas Robert Malthus’s outdated math based prediction from back in the late 1700’s to early 1800’s, most of which has never come to pass and are flawed. Malthus himself thought that the human population would reflexively lower itself naturally in time of trouble; the neo Malthusians think those times of trouble can be avoided by keeping human numbers down, the more extreme ones advocate eugenics such sterilization and abortion both of which are evil or even kill quotas.

However what neither Malthus nor his successors have figured out is that Malthus himself failed his math rolls epically by not counting on humans being their own God given greatest resource, a resource finds and creates new resources.

Since Malthus we have had several predicted “resource shortage disaster”, often claiming things like 30 years to dooms day, that are then averted, most notable and dramatic of which was the near famine back in the 1970’s which you should know about since India was supposed to be the epicenter of that resource crises. Add to this that the prices for food and basic materials such as steel and plastic keep going down. Even more exotic things like electricity are going down in price due human cultivation new energy source like nuclear. That should not be happening if the doomsayers are right.

I could go on about how neo Malthusian thought has crippled several nations and other ways its nonsense but that is another thread, basically over population is a myth I well leave this:

Defusing the Population Bomb

Third while India may be poor on the ground level its actually in the top ten most economically powerful countries, is often cited as the growing third power in the US vs. China economic power struggle/balance with the potential to blow both out of the water, and all of that is due to your large population. The reason you aren’t seeing that on the ground now is disunity. If your nation was more united, poverty would be a thing of the past for India, but unforgiveness is in the way of that (among other things).

Here are some current articles on India

Strengths of Indian Economy | Economics Help

Indian Economy: Population, Facts, GDP, Corruption, Business, Trade, FDI

India’s economy: Why the time for growth is now | McKinsey

Well anyways I am done that’s all I wanted to say.

I think reproducing should be a human right and not removed in any case. And in my opinion people should rather think how to live so that it is not a problem.

Thank you for sharing a bit of your life testimony, LaBella! It is encouraging to me because I pray for certain lost people all the time but often wonder if frequent prayer actually makes any more difference than a single prayer.

You’re welcome. I have prayed fervently for someone over a stretch of years and may begin again. Standing in the gap long-term is often the result of love or a burden God lays on our heart.

For most, I offer a prayer on their behalf but lack the pressing on my spirit that I felt for him. I wanted to see him free. I wish God’s best for others but it doesn’t evoke hourly prayer sessions on a daily basis. Intercession isn’t my gift but I never took a day off.

Well, I'm going to get back into my fervent prayer for him again.

Maybe the Lord wants you to begin again.

a genuine Christian may seem like a godsend to the company.

Employers desire dependable workers who’ll do their job, take on additional work as needed, maintain a pleasant demeanor, and get along with others. Sometimes that person is a believer and others they aren’t. Good virtues begin at home.
