As posted earlier God's Sheep are those who believe and follow God's Word.

JOHN 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

JOHN 10:26-27 [26] But you believe not, because you are not of my sheep, as I said to you.[27] My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me

Your only supporting what is provided here in the OP. Those who do not believe or no longer believe and follow God's Word (present tense) are not God's sheep because they do not believe and follow God's Word.
So if someone doesn’t believe, it’s because they aren’t His sheep. So there’s no loss of salvation since they were never saved.

If we are believing and following God's Word in the present tense we are God's people. God's Word teaches that if we are not believing and following God's Word in the present tense we are not his people.
...and never saved, according to Jesus.

Hi all,

This thread is for general discussion on what the bible says about losing salvation. I noticed some are trying to teach a false doctrine of once saved always saved here. Does the bible really teach this? If so, why so many warnings from both the old and New Testament scriptures not to depart the faith and fall away from believing and following God's Word?

Why are we admonished...

2 CORINTHIANS 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether you be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know you not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except you be reprobates?

Which in my view is good advice considering that there will be many on that day that thought and believed that they were following God and were not following God...

MATTHEW 7:22-23 [22], Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works? [23], And then will I profess to them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work sin.

and again a little earlier...

MATTHEW 7:13-20
[13], Enter you in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
[14], Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads to life, and few there be that find it.
[15], Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
[16], You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
[17], Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.
[18], A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
[19], Every tree that brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
[20], Why by their fruits you shall know them.

The issue here and in the OP is to examine ourselves as it is ONLY all those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD that are in a saved state with God. According to God's WORD all those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN *HEBREWS 10:26-27 because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23. OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD through love. If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26 and our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50.

It is not God's will that we sin but if we do we have an advocate with the father *1 JOHN 2:1-4

..............

MATTHEW 24:13 [12], And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. [13], But he that shall endure to the end, the same shall be saved.

MARK 13:13 [13], And you shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure to the end, the same shall be saved.

HEBREWS 3:13-14 [13], But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. [14], For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end

HEBREWS 3:6 [6], But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.

COLOSSIANS 1:12-14; 23
[12], Giving thanks to the Father, which has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
[13], Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
[14], In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.....
[23], If you continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which you have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister

REVELATION 2:26 [26], And he that overcomes, and keeps my works to the end, to him will I give power over the nations

2 THESSALONIANS 2:1-3 [1], Now we beseech you, brothers, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together to him, [2], That you be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. [3], Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition

1 PETER 4:18 [18], And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

HEBREWS 10:26-27 [26], For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, [27], But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

HEBREWS 6:4-8 [4], For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, [5], And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, [6], If they shall fall away, to renew them again to repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. [7], For the earth which drinks in the rain that comes oft on it, and brings forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receives blessing from God:
[8], But that which bears thorns and briers is rejected, and is near to cursing; whose end is to be burned.

MATTHEW 13:18-23 [18], Hear you therefore the parable of the sower.
[19], When any one hears the word of the kingdom, and understands it not, then comes the wicked one, and catches away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. [20], But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that hears the word, and immediately with joy receives it; [21], Yet has he not root in himself, but endures for a while: for when tribulation or persecution rises because of the word, by and by he is offended. [22], He also that received seed among the thorns is he that hears the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.[23], But he that received seed into the good ground is he that hears the word, and understands it; which also bears fruit, and brings forth, some an hundred times, some sixty, some thirty.

REVELATION 2:26 And he that overcomes, and keeps my works to the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

REVELATION 3:5
He that overcomes, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

REVELATION 3:12 Him that overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God: and I will write on him my new name.

REVELATION 3:21 To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

REVELATION 21:7 He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

These are only a few scriptures. The same warnings are all through both the old and new testament scriptures.

..............

Questions for discussion;

1. Can we lose our salvation? (linked to answer)

2. What does it mean only those that are faithful to the end will be saved?

3. Saved from what?

4. Is anyone in a saved state before God while living in a life of known unrepentant sin?

5. Why are there so many warnings from God's Word not to depart the faith if we cannot lose salvation?

God bless.
We can't even know with 100% certainty whether or not our names are written in the Book of Life to begin with-that's God's territory, to know perfectly. Let alone whether or not we'll persevere.

We're saved from ignorance and sin and darkness and our own pride that blinds us. We're saved from being lost, from not knowing where we came from, if anywhere, what we're here for, if anything, and where we're going, if anywhere. We're saved from "the sting of death", from the natural conclusion that this world is just a giant slaughterhouse at the end of the day. We're saved from "the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors" (1 Pet 1:15); we're saved from hell, meaning eternal separation from God, a hell that already exists here in part, where the Master's gone away, and where even believers can only see Him dimly now, and know Him in part. But he's the living water that slakes our thirst, He's the source of unending bliss and happiness for man. God is what we're missing-and we're saved from that loneliness that only He can fill, from a universal human dissatisfaction that only He can satisfy.

Sadly this is not biblical. Thanks for sharing though.

Yes it is.. Jesus says none of those God gives into His Hand will be lost, but will be raised up at the last Day.

"And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day." John 6:39

I'm seeing no ambiguity here.

God bless.

I tend to say "Born again" instead of saved, that way it's less like a hall pass, and more like an actual change of person.

1) No, it would be the bad news if that were the case. Those who are born again remain born again, they do no go back to being unborn again.

2)
Matthew 10
21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

Matthew 24
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Mark 13
12 Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.
13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

From the context, I see the correct quote is "endure to the end" and the general context indicates it's more about love than faith. Since love is matured or made perfect in us so we can have boldness on the day of judgment ... it's not talking about losing salvation, it's talking about salvation during an end time event as Matthew 24 indicates "these are the beginnings of the sorrows"

3) Some end time event.

4) Question 4 misunderstands the scriptures quoted earlier so it's non sequitur

5) Departing the faith causes damage to the person, God does not want us to hurt ourselves because God loves us.

So if someone doesn’t believe, it’s because they aren’t His sheep. So there’s no loss of salvation since they were never saved.
Not at all. The warnings in the scriptures show we can believe and follow God's Word yesterday and depart from the faith back to a life of sin and no longer believe and follow God's Word. Believers have faith and believing and following God's Word always is the "present tense" (now). If we beleived God's Word and followed it yesterday and do not do so today we were once believers who have become an unbeliever and unbelievers have no part in God's kingdom *HEBREWS 6:4-8

John 6:39? Is that biblical enough for you?

JESUS does not lose those who believe and follow God's Word. This scripture does not say a believer cannot become an unbeliever and lose salvation as shown in the OP *HEBREWS 6:4-8.

Jesus said His sheep hear His voice and follow. Are you calling Him a liar? It sure seems like it.

Calling into question God's character are all those who do not believe and follow God's Word.
Then you condemn yourself. If God says we are adopted, and are His children, then I wholeheartedly believe Him.

Your confusing God's people with just anyone..

If one of Gods people is saved there is nothing that can tear this child of God away from God.. He may walk away for a time even, but will come back a prodigal before his life is over. God's people cannot be lost.

And, those who don't belong to Christ will never be saved, and no amount of works will save them.

Nope I am saying only what God's Word says. God's sheep are only those who believe and follow God's Word (always present tense). Do you believe these scriptures?

Not at all he who God sends speaks the Word of God. These are God's Words not mine. You provide your own words which are not God's Word. Only Gods Word is true and we should believe and follow it *ROMANS 3:4

You kinda have it. I think that you think believing and following makes one a sheep. Jesus doesn’t say that. We hear and follow because we are sheep. And so that He’s clear, he contrasts that by say that those who don’t hear and follow act that way because they aren’t His sheep. Our actions are evidence of who we are. They aren’t the cause.
