Oh? What of Luke 6:20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed [are] ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

Would you have the readers to believe that all materially poor people will go to heaven? Or that they can buy their way into heaven, by giving up dollars and remaining poor?

Maybe you can reread that gospel and try an look for more than material ideas in it. For the amount of money you have, give, or forego...has no bearing on your entrance to heaven.....sad news for those wishing to buy their way in...

I was merely quoting The Word of Our Lord.

I was merely quoting The Word of Our Lord.
While implying that it meant, if you give away all your money you are guaranteed entrance into heaven. The money we had or do not have will not affect our entry into heaven.

1. Jesus was born in a poor family.
2. Jesus was a poor man.
3. It is more difficult for rich people to enter heaven than for poor people. Like a camel entering a needle's hole.
4. The parable of Lazarus and the rich man.
5. The love of money is the root of all evils.
6. God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble.

I'd say, don't be jealous of others because of what they have, but always be thankful in even the small things. The rich and poor have this in common: The LORD made them both.

1. If I were given the opportunity to birth Christ...I'd consider myself the riches family in the world....Only one who values materials of this world would believe otherwise.
2. Jesus owns everything, there is nothing made that wasnt made by and for Him....How can you own everything and be poor?
3.The disciples of Jesus felt that the Rich should of had an easier time entering than the poor....Jesus did not shut down this Idea....yet agreed that, for man, it was impossible. hint...they may not have been talking about materially rich.....but we much take our mind off materials to see anything other than material.
4. a great parable indeed....I would have to raise the level of important of money in my mind before I can see how this applies here.
5.The love of money is the root of all evils.....Money itself is nothing more than pieces of paper or groups of numbers on a screen....
6. Not sure what pride and humility has to do with being materially rich or poor

I agree The lord made the rich and the poor, and we should love them both the same and not esteem one higher or lower than the other....

I was only "implying" that Our Lord wants us to share our blessings.

1. You always have the opportunity to have Jesus anytime. If you are materialy blessed why not adopt an orphan, autistic child, etc. They are Jesus.
2. No he lived a poor life for 30 years. Jesus is the inspiration to everyone with whatever bad situation they are in, because Jesus had it worse.
3. What makes it difficult for rich people to enter heaven is pride.
4. If you are rich, then learn to give and donate. Don't be stingy like the rich man who treated Lazarus his poor neighbour badly. God loves those who knows how to give, like Cornelius the Centurion.
5. If you are an investor and you have the opportunity to invest in a business, like facebook or instagram that may cause people to fall into sin, would you do it? From there you will know how much you love money.
6. Because money breeds pride and pride is a dangerous sin. If God can throw Lucifer His greatest creation out of heaven because of pride what more do we expect from God?

1. ) Poverty has already destroyed more people's lives, then "riches" ever will.

2. ) "Poverty is the destruction of the Poor". says your Bible. not their BLESSING. !

So, here is the reality. If you have an issue with "riches", theologically speaking, then more then likely........ you are. 1.) offended, as i am, by the teachers of "prosperity gospel". And in fact, you should be wary of this teaching, because it CAN create you to see God as your bank in a way that causes you to have a greedy and fleshy heart/spirituality. This is the issue with the teaching, in that, it creates spiritual greed, if its it preached out of balance. And the way you preach this message out of balance, is to ONLY PREACH ABOUT MONEY and PROSPERITY< as if the entire reason for the Bible and for God and for Christianity, is to be a blessing to you.

But, prosperity, is fine. Being Rich is fine. Money, is fine. The issue with money is not the money, its the person. If a person can't deal with having money, then the person is the problem, not the money.

There are people who teach that poverty is a proof of spirituality. And in fact poverty is a proof you are miserable and living in slow torture, if you are truly poor on this earth. There is no heavenly blessing being given to someone who can't eat normally, can't sleep in their own home, who is living on the street in the summer and winter. So, the "poverty gospel" is just as spiritually perverted as the overuse of the "prosperity gospel".

God does not want his children, sick, broke, and suffering. Would you want your children to be sick, broke, and suffering? Do you think you get this innate protective sense about your children from Satan? No, the reason you want the BEST and ONLY the BEST for your children, is because this is the Nature of God, who only wants the best for His Children.

Listen, did God send you His 2nd best Son, or did He send you His Only Begotten Son?

So, if someone is (preaching - teaching) condemning riches, then that person is not theologically balanced, probably has a bit of a martyr complex, and you should not listen to them for 5 seconds. The reality is, Money matters. It is necessary for life, for survival, and for more. Money, in your life, having it, has the same effect as oil in a car engine. And thats a fact. God has no issue with you having money, and you being prosperous. The ISSUE is, if your money and your prosperity is the center of your LOVE, the center of your Heart and Ambiton. And in that case, YOU are the problem, and not the money or the prosperity.

Thank you! You have written this so truthfully that I can’t begin to express how grateful I am for your careful articulation.

This is a message that must be understood as Satan has blinded the first set of troops with greed, and cut the supply lines of the other set!

You perfectly addressed both sides of the backwards thinking that is out there and emphasized the biblical perspective. Well said, @DeepWater!

Luke 14
33In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.

2. Jesus owns everything, there is nothing made that wasnt made by and for Him....How can you own everything and be poor?

Matthew 8
20Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but
the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."

If you've promised to serve God and not mammon, eventually you'll have to fulfill that promise. The best that you can do, to temporarily delay it, is ask for an extension of the deadline, ask for terms of peace.

One of the most jarring truths about Jesus’ ministry is that harlots, tax collectors and many other wealthy individuals funded His ministry.

The man that handled the money of Jesus’ ministry spoke as if he had concern for the poor, yet he hated the harlots, tax collectors and the like.

This money handler saw wealth as pure gratification for himself.

There are many that obtain wealth for the ability to minister to others, care for their family and be free from slavery to mammon.

How can one Love others and God, if they don’t love themselves enough to be free?

If God does not want His children sick, broke and suffering, then why was His Child, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, sicken by our sin, broke by His people and suffered by the hands of many? You many not know the Character of God, just the yearnings of the flesh.
Blessings

Are you saying that God wants His children to be sick broken and suffering? Or that He just doesn't care either way?

He wants us to stay the course regardless of being sick, broken or suffering. He warned us of persecution for our faith. He said we would be hated among all men for our Love of Christ and most of all He promised the Kingdom for our perseverance.

1. Jesus was born in a poor family.
2. Jesus was a poor man.
Jesus had a treasurer.

3. It is more difficult for rich people to enter heaven than for poor people. Like a camel entering a needle's hole.
4. The parable of Lazarus and the rich man.
Yet, God, when blessing king Solomon he did it with riches.
God wouldn't tempt a man to difficulty in entering the kingdom.

5. The love of money is the root of all evils.
"LOVE OF" money.
Money isn't the root of evil at all.

6. God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble.
One can be poor as a mouse and proud as anything about his poverty.
one can be wealthy and have a thankful humble heart.

I'd say, don't be jealous of others because of what they have, but always be thankful in even the small things. The rich and poor have this in common: The LORD made them both.
Amen. I always say, there are no "small" things.
With God, each blessing is huge!

Are you saying that God wants His children to be sick broken and suffering? Or that He just doesn't care either way?

We can't help but come to the logical conclusion that Good believes not acknowledging Him is worse than being sick, broken and suffering:

John 9
3Jesus answered, “It wasneither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him.

The reason why the rest of Jerusalem was afraid to join Peter on Solomon's portico was because of the Way they had to follow Christ, be His disciple. The reason why the poor were blessed, had to be proud, because God had made them poor, knowing they could follow through, was because they had less to lose. When they layed down whatever they possessed at Peter's feet, they did it so that the works of God might be displayed in their lives, might have eternal life, live a meaningful life, share in Christ's work. Not that the display of God's works could guarantee salvation. But God did His part:

Psalm 78:11
They forgot what He had done, the wonders He had shown them.

Psalm 78:42
They did not remember His power--the day He redeemed them from the adversary,

Psalm 106:21
They forgot God their Savior, who did great things in Egypt,

Matthew 11
21"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had occurred in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

He desires for us too be content in whatever situation we are in and not ask Him to change anything? If we are sick, stay sick.....If we had little funds, stay with little funds?

I'm not taking about persecution......just normal everyday life.

There must be a conscious effort involved, an intentionality :

1 Corinthians 13
3And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

John 15
13"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

Suffering for the sake of self flagellation, manifesting a martyr complex, is futile. One picks up a cross in order to provide God an opportunity to display His great work in SAVING, NOT TO MANIFEST A MIRACLE GRATUITOUSLY, TO TEST GOD, LIKE ISRAEL DID AT HORMAH, BUT JESUS DID NOT DO ON THE TEMPLE ROOF, BUT SO THAT PEOPLE WILL TURN TO HIM.

By all means pray for relief! But just know that it is still "His will be done" and it may not be the "will" you want or expect.
