No selling uranium to the Russians in Trump admin. Obama did that.
No. Obviously no. We were working on the question of what is expected of any ambassador during the tenure of any head of state.<chuckle> You mean, "Donny doesn't play well with other students", "Donny learns a little slower than his peers", or "Donny's aide wasn't on duty that day"?
It is NOT up to us to decide what is expected of another nation's ambassador to report to his/her superiors. At some point it is going to be in our best interest to grasp the concept that we don't 'own' the entire planet.No. Obviously no. We were working on the question of what is expected of any ambassador during the tenure of any head of state.

That's right. We are referring to longstanding, well-established expectations, no matter who happens to be the ambassador and who is the head of state.
This one took a chance with violating those expectations and, although he might have gotten away with it, he had the bad luck to have run into a leaker, so he paid the price for his carelessness. Some other ambassador would likely have experienced the same result if he had been in the same situation.
Your 'longstanding, well-established expectations' are not any older than about two weeks ago when our thin skinned president and his thin skinned fan boys got their feelings hurt over a leaked document.
Ambassadors have only one responsibility...to be the eyes and ears for their nation about the nation they are assigned to. Trump would know this if he would appoint ambassadors and use them as they are designed.
Politics is a game for grown-ups who are able to contain their emotions and not fly off the handle at every perceived slight to their egos. Some times the best interest of the nation is being able to swallow one's pride and do the right thing for the nation.
Baloney. The controversial remarks were almost totally in the realm of opinion and characterizations. What's more all of them could have been stated, if that was necessary, using dignified language rather than what was chosen instead.
I see. You consider it standard operating procedure for an ambassador to make a confidential report along with gratuitous personal insults directed at the head of state of the nation to which he has been sent as the representative of his own government.
That's very interesting. I can accept that you might mean this is not uncommon, but that is not the point at all. It is hardly appropriate behavior in an ambassador.
A leaked diplomatic cable has shown a UK ambassador call Trump 'clumsy and inept', causing an uproar. Is this opinion a national secret?
