I was thinking about using this as a one page handout to people in my community that may not be that well versed in God, Christianity, and The Bible and such, people on the street that may want or need it, tell me what you think...?

The Gospel Message:

1 Corinthians 15:1-4- "Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures"...

John 3:16- “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life"...

Acts of the Apostles 16:31- "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved"...

Having Faith in the Gospel Message:

Righteousness/Salvation comes by Faith (Hebrews 11:7) and Faith alone, and not works (Ephesians 2:8-9) and Faith comes by hearing, and by hearing and reading and taking in the Word of God, the Bible (Romans 10:17), for without Faith it is impossible to please Him. (Hebrews 11:6)...

The Judgment:

John 3:19- "And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil"...

The Commandment:

1 John 3:11- "For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another."

1 John 3:18- "My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth."

1 John 4:7-8- "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love."

1 John 4:16- "And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him."

1 John 4:18- "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love."

Giving and Receiving:

2 Corinthians 9:7- "So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver."

2 Corinthians 9:6- "But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully."

Comfort in Tribulation:

2 Corinthians 1:3-4- "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."

The Holy Spirit is the great Comforter, with us in and through our trials and tribulations... He lives inside of you... He is the voice that is kind to you, and speaks kind and kindly to you, in all your troubles and trials and tribulations... In Him you will find refreshment for your soul...

Peace is a Weapon:

Romans 16:20- "And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen."

Finally Bretheren:

Philippians 2:1-4- "Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others."

2 Corinthians 13:11- "Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you."

God Bless!

I don't really like taking verses out of their context, or only using parts of verses and passages, but, for what might be "new believers", or people with maybe very little knowledge, that are going through some really hard and though times, that you are trying to reach...? Yeah...

God Bless!

In dealing with the secular world I would think it best to concentrate on the Love of God, Christ crucified, and how eternal life is possible through Christ.

Maybe title it ... Do you want to live forever? of maybe How to live forever?

Yes, it's pretty good ... but need to include the eternity factor. People are weary and folks .... there's a better way to live in this world and a better world coming. ;o) and the next world is for eternity.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

John 14:1-3

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

Philippians 3:20

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

John 3:16-17

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

2 Peter 3:13
But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Revelation 22

... He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

2 Corinthians 5:1

For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

John 10:28

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

1 Peter 1:4

To an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,

Matthew 5:8

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Thanks, but I still don't know which ones to use? and it can't be too many, just a couple really good ones that would be fitting to, well, "this", and go along with the flow of it or this so far, ect...

Remember I'm trying to my best to keep it to one page, if I can, or two at the very most...

I thank you though...

God Bless!

Hi Neogaia ...

I used to compose my own evangelistic tracts years ago in my early adulthood.

I only mention that to say that I've spent some time thinking about the contents of such a message. Let me also say that before I began to compose my own tracts, I used a variety of tracts from the American Tract Society (I think), ... so I had somewhat of a guide as to the elements of an effective message.

It might be a good idea to take a look at some pre-printed offerings.

Gospel Tracts

Something that you're going to want to consider is a "draw" to the message ... something from the everyday lives of people, especially the lives of unbelievers. Such subjects could be ... happiness, peace, fear, death, various struggles, world problems, etc.

I would suggest that you don't want to use so much scripture in what is, essentially, an introductory message. Also, you want to stick to passages which will resonate with "seekers".

I like the verses cited in the segment entitled "The Commandment", although I would likely re-title it "The Goal" or something like that.

I would add to that only John 3:16. You might title the tract by asking ... "Do you want to part of God's family of love ?"

The rest of your citations are really directed at believers. They would be a lot to take in by unbelievers.

Finally, you need a good, engaging, inviting wrap-up. Something like ...

Do you want to be a part of God's family of love ? If so, call out to Him today, right where you stand. He will hear you ...

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)

God Bless!

There is the message of hope. Baptism and repentance, the hope of the resurrection, living with God in heaven. Having the supernaturally powered Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands, etc. If they're new to God and His scriptures then perhaps a message of blessings and gifts for the repentant soul.

But if they're literally living on the street then I wouldn't preach repentance, and I would target more the resurrection and living with God in heaven. Rest for the soul :)

You might consider including God's word from scriptures about the Jesus who was born of a virgin, who is sinless, He came down from heaven to walk on earth, He was falsely convicted by crimes he didn't commit, His brutal death the cross, the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all who will believe and had faith, the death, burial, resurrection, ascension to heaven, and future return for His bride, what life after death involves for both the believer and unbeliever...

If they ask you what they can do to get to heaven, you reply, "nothing." It's all of the Grace of God and the work of the God's Holy Spirit. Tell them it's their responsibility to believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Pray ask Him..wait on Him. He WILL answer. As to what where when how. He knows the ones that will listen and wont. Might be a thought from no where it seems.. about putting these over there or here or handing them out. HE gives you the idea desire. THEN is when the doors open. We pray about ALL THINGS..in all things :)

I sure enjoy reading all the thoughtful replies. As I read your first post, Neo, I was formulating my answer and found, as usual, that other people have already said just about everything that was jogging about in my mind. In thinking about what it would be like to have someone hand you a one-pager, as you pray about it, and as you consolidate the message to the small taste of salt that you seek to share, keep us posted on how it develops.

I was thinking about using this as a one page handout to people in my community that may not be that well versed in God, Christianity, and The Bible and such, people on the street that may want or need it, tell me what you think...?

I love your desire to get out there and take the Good News to others. :)
Personally, I am pretty sure that I would have thrown something like that away before I became a Christian; or at least, look at it and think "so?" Even though I went to church, I wouldn't have understood those verses; "be saved" - from what?, "be judged" - for what and why?
I appreciate that the Lord may bless his word and may use anything we offer; even so, I wonder if people might look at the list of words they don't understand and put it straight in the bin. A piece of paper with one verse, a short explanation of the verse and the message that we can find peace, hope, joy, eternal life and know that God loves and accepts us as we are, may grab people more. This is what people want; to be accepted, loved and have a purpose in life - they can find this by having a personal relationship with the God who created them and loves them to bits.

Imagine that you were walking past a Muslim and he handed you a page of verses from the Koran - a book that you had never read and had no interest in. How would you react? Would you want to know more, and where you could go to find answers or would you just look at the sheet of paper, think "I haven't got time for puzzles" and throw it away?

I plan on putting in an envelope and putting in with some basic food goods I give them, and yes, these are quite literally people on the street with nothing and very little and next to no hope...

Whether they look at it, throw it away, ect, is not really up to me, but this is why I also didn't want to push "the usual stuff" (no offense to anyone intended) but most of them have heard some things from others before, and tend to reject that kind of stuff and those kinds of messages...

Need a title or something to put on the front of the envelope though...?

Thank you all for your information and suggestions, there are some good ones, and they are making me think, thanks all...

I'll keep you updated on how it goes...

I've been homeless on the street before, and was wondering what I may have want to have heard that was different from the atypical or usual stuff, most of which they have (I had already) heard and been exposed to before, most of the time, and just makes them "angry" or upset a lot of the time, thinking that those other people just "do not understand" at all...

God Bless!
