Romans 1:18 "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness."

The wrath of God is not a popular subject, not in the world and not even in most churches. However, the wrath of God is critical to understanding the gospel. Has the United States gone its own way Has God abandoned America because of its sinful choices.

Usually that question brings to mind when Abram asked God to spare the city of Sodom if it had a number of righteous people in it, and kept asking with lower numbers until he got down to 10, which would have been a very small portion of the population. But Sodom did not have 10 we can deduce. (the reasons Sodom and sister cities had to be destroyed: Ezekiel chapter 16, verses 49-50, where we see one of the prominent great evils of Sodom was an entire lack of any charity at all)
Bible Gateway passage: Ezekiel 16:49-50 - New International Version

I agree with the OP. God is already judging and bringing the curses He promised to the USA the western world because of their turning away from Him & turning to idolatry & covetousness.

The ONLY hope is to repent as a nation & that does not appear to be happening as further ungodliness is occurring and continued millions of aborted babies stains this nation before God of innocent blood. The blood of Abel still cries out as a witness & this bloodshed in our nation cannot continue without God bringing wrath & judgment upon us.

Let us repent & try our ways & turn again to the Lord. Perhaps He will have mercy.

Thanks for Franklin Graham & others who call for a national day of prayer & for our current President who recognized this day. The last President kept Franklin from doing this & calling this nation to prayer & repentance. May God have mercy.

God abandoned both of these societies:
  • God judged Sodom and Gomorrah for their wickedness. (Genesis 19:13)
  • God judged the world's wickedness and used Noah to save the eight. (Genesis 6)
The first indicators in a society of the wrath of abandonment is sexual immorality...

Some think we are entering these days (and count how many of the markers):

2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,

4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—

5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires,

7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. ...
2 Timothy 3 NIV

Romans 1 speaks also to the issue of unbelief and its consequences. What will God do with a nation of sinners unrepentant. Let us heed God's call to preach the Gospel to the ends of the earth that they may hear the good news of God's salvation.

It says being overfed was another great evil. Walk through Walmart and you'll see all kinds of evil, overweight people. Maybe they should repent and go on diets. Maybe God will withhold his wrath. No. Being all these things made it easy for Sodom to indulge itself in great sexual wickedness. Which brought on their destruction.

Well, I've thought the significance of those in Sodom being overfed was that they had plenty of food and thus not even the slightest good excuse to refuse to feed the hungry.... Compare to a very different situation of famine, where one could say one was feeding one's children, and that would be a significant good reason to excuse not giving food to others, but Sodom was in the opposite situation, and so we can conclude it's not merely an inadequate level of charity, but instead an entire lack altogether of any charity at all. That's the significance of them being overfed but not giving food to the hungry.

Certainly has and I can't wait to see these punks faint in fear.

Sorry but that's a horrible sentiment..

We should desire for others what we desire for ourselves... even Jesus prayed forgive them Father for they know not what they do..

If you want God to forgive you for your sins, you should also pray others come to a saving knowledge of Jesus - and then celebrate with he Angels when they do..

Wrath is for God alone..

Doesn't say that. Just says overfed. In reality I have no problem with well fed people, but don't make the bible say other than what it's saying.
I was just remembering I had more sources on that. It was years ago, lemme try to find it. One aid was I was reading the ESV (more accurate even than the NIV), but there was another thing, and I'll search it up and post it in a bit if I can find it.

49 Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy.

God hates certain sins more that others (Proverbs 6:16-19) yet it's clear He commands us to love Himself above all else, love our neighbors as self, and to also love our enemies.

God's commission to all believers is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all corners of the world.

Here we go, along with the more literal ESV, also this, from other Jewish sources (note especially the 2nd paragraph, and what you learn there):

Religious views
Jewish
...

Other extrabiblical crimes committed by Sodom and Gomorrah included extortion on crossing a bridge/or swimming a river; harshly punishing victims for crimes that the perpetrator committed, forcing an assault victim to pay for the perpetrator's "bleeding" [46] and forcing a woman to marry a man who intentionally caused her miscarriage to compensate for the lost child. Because of this, the judges of the two cities were referred to as Shakrai ("Liar"), Shakurai ("Awful Liar"), Zayyafi ("Forger") and Mazle Dina ("Perverter of Justice"). Eliezer was reported to be a victim of such legally unjust conduct, after Sarah sent him to Sodom to report on Lot's welfare. The citizens also regularly tortured foreigners who sought lodging. They did this by providing the foreigners a standard-sized beds and if they saw that the foreigner was too short for the bed, they would forcibly stretch their limbs but if the foreigner was too tall, they would cut off their legs; [47] [48]As a result, many people refrained from visiting Sodom and Gomorrah. Beggars who settled into the two cities for refuge were similarly mistreated. The citizens would give them marked coins (presumably used to purchase food) but were nonetheless forbidden, by proclamation, to provide these necessary services. Once the beggar died of starvation, citizens who initially gave the beggar the coins were permitted to retrieve them, provided that they could recognize it. The beggar's clothing was also provided as a reward for any citizen who could successfully overcome their opponent in a street fight. [49][50]

The provision of bread and water to the poor was also a capital offense (Yalḳ., Gen. 83). Two girls, one poor and the other rich, went to a well; and the former gave the latter her jug of water, receiving in return a vessel containing bread. When this became known, both were burned alive (ib.). [51] According to the Book of Jasher, Paltith, one of Lot's daughters, was burnt alive (in some versions, on a pyre) for giving a poor man bread. [52] Her cries went to the heavens[53] Another woman was similarly executed in Admah for giving a traveler, who intended to leave the town the next day, water. When the scandal was revealed, the woman was stripped naked and covered with honey. This attracted bees as the woman was slowly stung to death. Her cries then went up into the heavens, the turning point that was revealed to have provoked God to enact judgement upon Sodom and Gomorrah in the first place in Genesis 18:20. [54]

It seems that most people understand God's wrath to mean how He judges wrong people and wrong things.

Well, we do need our Good Building Inspector to evaluate if the place where we are living is safe and healthy. If the floors and stairs are rotting through and the place is full of rats, hopefully the inspector will be honest and make sure things are made better, or we are moved out.

And Satan's kingdom is nowhere for any human to live. There is "the corruption that is in the world through lust", we have in 2 Peter 1:4. Lust is dominating and dictatorial, and can drag people into arguing and fake sexual stuff of just using another person. And lust can keep and ruin a person in smoking and substance abuse and food abuse . . . eating a person alive in what is not God's love with "rest for your souls." (in Matthew 11:28-30) It is not right for humans, and lust . . . the spirit of it (Ephesians 2:2) . . . has a person sharing with Satan, instead of tenderly and sensitively sharing and caring with Jesus. So, lust is condemned property stuff. Judging it is for our own good.

Yes, God's wrath (His anger) is directed at sin. God is perfectly righteous and no unrighteousness shall stand before Him. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty.

God requires us to become perfectly holy in order to live life eternal with Him, in Heaven. We cannot do that on our own, for we are fallen sinners. It is only through faith in Christ Jesus, and His saving grace, that we can be justified and sanctified to live in Heaven for all eternity. Let us pray for unbelievers, and teach them the Gospel News, so that they might take up that perfect yoke (of Matthew 11) with Jesus and walk in the Spirit of God.

Sodom and Gomorrah - Wikipedia
I'm sure there was a lot of wickedness going on, although I don't know how credible any of this is and how they knew so much about Sodom's history. Sounds like folklore. At any rate, it seems like since the gay agenda has taken hold, now the push is on to reinterpret the bible wherever sexual sin is spoken of. After all, legitimization of sin is always top priority when that sin is struggling for mainstream acceptance. Can't have the bible illustrating judgement for deviant sex. Someone might feel bad.
