No, the government does not own the businesses as they did during the days of CCCP or were known as the "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics"?

They may have torn down the wall in East Germany and Berlin, but they have not changed internally very much according to my information. In fact, we have gone back into the "Cold War" setting of yesteryear.

Just because they are no longer a communist state does not mean they are our allies.

I will agree with you there. Yet, a communist state is a lot different by definition than what it was yesteryear. By wiki def, Communism is : "when every individual owns the means of economic production in an economy and takes what he or she needs." Don't believe the people of China would agree.

No, the state enterprises were bought up on mass by various oligarchs, although Putin has a lot of them in his pocket they aren’t state run in the sense of the state taking in the profits. The whole scenario is a bit more complicated than you seem to think.
Putin is the latest in a long, long line of Russian leaders who believe in Russia’s destiny as a world power, something that’s hard to sum up in a post. There have been pro Europe movements within Russia but they lost a long time ago. The idea of Europe becoming more Russian somehow would be something like saying that Japan might ditch it’s current trading partners to side with China.

Latest leaked memo shows the ambassador believed that Trump scrapped the Iran deal to spite Obama and had no plan to reach out to allies or deal with the fallout of that decision.

....stating the obvious.

Now I did not say EU would be like Russia but I do think they will jump into bed with them if it benefited their objectives. If they take the GAS from Russia, they will be setting themselves up for a fall or blackmail.

As far as being complicated with the businesses vs the Russian gov., your right, I do not understand. It is just hard for a old fellow like me who grew up living with nuclear annihilation on a day to day basis up until that faithful day.

No worries. In general within the EU nations are more preoccupied with their own interests, and as a whole with the usual issues of prosperity, defence and advancement in technology etc. that other nation states and coalitions concern themselves with. There’s a slow movement within Europe, some countries more than others, away from fossil fuel dependence.

I don't know those details. However, the observations ring true: Trump killed the Iranian deal to spite Obama....and didn't have a clue as to what would replace it. That's Trump - blow up stuff and try to be the hero....except so far, it hasn't worked....at all.

The British government hasn’t disavowed the cables.

The EU will deal with anyone they so choose, generally based around whatever offers them the best deal for their citizens. This is exactly as it should be. Russia has been a hugely important part of Europe and European affairs for centuries.

The British government hasn’t disavowed the cables.

More than that, the UK confirmed the contents of some of them were accurate.

Diplomatic cables sent from the United Kingdom's ambassador to the United States back to London describe President Donald Trump as "inept," "insecure" and "incompetent," a UK government official confirmed Saturday to CNN.

Just because the truth sometimes hurts doesn't change the fact that it is the truth. He -is- inept, insecure and incompetent.

Dial the calendar back 20 some years and you could be talking about Bill Clinton...except for the Christian part.....they weren't duped by him. Hmmmm didn't he seemingly appear to wear a white hat? GAHHHHH, maybe he was the Adversary in disguise?
I see Trump and Bill no different when it come to morals. They have no morals. But Demacrats are considered to be immoral. By the people, that elected Trump.

Well, in my book anyone who murders unborn human beings is immoral be they Democrat or Republican. Unfortunately for Democrats they brag about it and call it 'healthcare' or 'choice' ignoring the fact that the unborn human being had no choice and its health is certainly not being cared for....I don't necessarily like the way Trump does things or his public castigation of individuals but he stands against abortion and that is always the tipping point for me. So, given the likely Democrat candidate for the general election will have to be an unwavering supporter of abortion I will certainly vote for Trump again as will many others for similar reasons. Now, since I have wandered off topic I will end it here.

A capitalist--although some would call him a kleptocrat. Russia hasn't been a communist country since the Soviet Union broke up in 1991.
A poster would argue Mr. Trump is a klepto as well.

He’s no different than Bill morally seems like faint praise.

Why? because the bad treaty of OBAMA allowed Iran to explore, research and build missiles that are capable of handling Nuclear weapons...not counting the 1.8Billion Dollars they got in Cash from Obama........

However, we need to remind ourselves daily and indeed hourly (these days), GOD is still in control. He is pulling the strings toward the final finale which is coming soon.

It was only a treaty about one thing. That was all it was intended to be and by all accounts it was holding. Was pulling out of it because it wasn't a treaty about something else really a good idea? BTW that was Iranian impounded money, not a present from the US.

In that case we don't need to do anything ourselves to hasten it.
