If we are not looking to look intelligent,
Nor aching to seem wise,
Nor longing for acknowledgement
For soaring enterprise,
If “plain and simple“ doesn’t scare
When seen next to our name,
And number of “likes“ on Facebook
Is not viewed as greatest gain...

Then maybe, Lord, just maybe
Your sweet Presence may seep in,
Like fog into some valley
Before the day begins,
And as we move into our day,
Before the madness starts,
We waken to a Love that fills,
Protects, enshrouds, imparts.

Heavenly Father,
Do we ever get a break...from mistakes?
Do we get a reprieve from missteps that bereave
Or a pass from splats that harass?

No?
Oh,
Well,
I guess

My penchant and passion
Of perfectionist fashion
Are misplaced...

What?
Oh,
Yes,
In our strength we're bereft

But Your Grace can reset.

Sometimes
Words fail

They fail to connote the intensity of psychic pain
Slowly destroying internally

They fail to convey the cellular- level excitement
Immersed in a beautiful sunset

They fail the depth of feeling of a mother holding her child
For the first time...or the last

They fail the spiritual ecstasy
A soul finding Water

Words fail
Flesh will fail
Time sails

But You, O Lord, know
And that is enough.

To Live is Christ

the daily creep of the "petty pace"
"to the last syllable of recorded time"
weighs on my mind

"outrageous fortune" afflicts us all
to be human is to suffer, fall,
and yet

our road is not without beneficent appurtenance
unexpected refreshment
rest, clarity, clearings

ways for a soul to throw off,
advance,
glance beyond the veil

the pale oppresses, yes,
but from dim recesses of memory before time
we may divine that it is the lark
not the nightingale
that shines

our days wind down
but benevolence abounds,
Grace, like a gown,
adorns that Good Morning.

Prodigal

It's easy to splinter, abandon our center,
Abort the narrow way,
Throw off the yoke, grab life by the throat,
Saw through encroaching staves.

Once out of the barrel, so free, so feral,
There's nought can stop us now,
In land without limits, no one can condemn us,
Unleashed, to nothing we bow.

But wait a quick second, it seems I wrong reckoned
In thinking this freedom was joy,
For now I am yoked to an appetite stoked
By a brain craving nothing but toys.

Time to consider there's nothing as bitter
As living bereft of His Love,
Where fences erected were wisdom injected...
My freedom is centered above.

Enfleshed Is A Good Place To Be

Enfleshed is a good place to be,
Though saddled with seeing how zest can recede
And feeling our presence may threaten the trees,
Enfleshed is a good place to be.

In thinking of life above ground,
It's true that there often are reasons to frown,
But two can get tickled and worries get drowned
In thinking of life above ground.

When hoping Hereafter bumps up,
When staleness seems all that is left in your cup,
Remember how Edelweiss streams through the ruts,
When hoping Hereafter bumps up.

Here's trusting The Bread and The Wine
Will anchor our hearts to the burgeoning Vine
And flesh so enmeshed can escape by design,
Here's trusting The Bread and The Wine.

When having a problem with sleep,
When angst from the day forms a hurdle too steep,
Remember, Dear Child, that The Lamb holds your seat,
When having a problem with sleep.

Thoughtful, yet straight to the point. Showing us that in ourselves we are weak, and that we find only true strenght in our Lord Jesus Christ!

Yet;

"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22-23)

What is temporary will soon be gone, what is eternal will last forever. Yet we all get born into this world, and we will have a taste of what it has to offer.

If everything is done having Christ in mind, He will bless us and provide for our needs. All done with a pure mindset, and this will satisfy us more than when we do it the wordly way.

"So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever." (2 Corinthians 4:18)
