Hi,

I'm looking to meet with other fellow Brisbane Christians off this forum. Would anybody be interested? It's been a long time since I have posted in here and want to get back into it after suffering a couple of harrowing incidents over the last few months in which my place and car were vandalised in separate incidents.

It has impacted my spiritual life and I've decided not to take my life for granted anymore. I have started to become more community minded and want to start doing more outreach in a couple churches, especially the Kedron Catholic Parish and the Salvation Army in Fortitude Valley with their Streetlife church.

I've also been offered a bit of paid work by a couple of Christian sisters who want to reach out to women and children in dysfunctional families, especially where mental, emotional and sexual abuse is concerned. One is doing personal assistant work, the other utilising my musical talents for a new Christian film production company specialising in short films with Biblical stories to fit the modern day world similar to what Jay Shetty has been doing.

Feel free to contact me through PM if you'd like to meet for coffee or even for informal ecumenical fellowship.

I'm in Logan which is not that far from you. Not sure how much use I'd be to you, but if you want to converse by email that's fine by me. For the record I grew up in Newmarket (long time ago now - by the photo you've still got most of your hair!), and I'm familiar with Kedron generally, but not the Catholic Church location, although I've probably passed it at some point.

I think God's got a soft spot for the Salvos incidentally, and maybe the Irish as well, although they're losing it now. They were instrumental in taking the Gospel to much of Europe in the early medieval church, and they took the church with them wherever they went in later centuries, due to English persecution and / or economic hardship.

I'm Catholic, ex Protestant (went to the Wilston Presbyterian Church some years ago - the old pastor was a spiritual father figure to me - it's just down the road from St. Columba's at the top of Kedron Brook Road), married (my wife is Baptist - we were both Protestant when we married), no kids, one dog, hard of hearing, involved with the local St. Vincent de Paul conference, and dabble in the guitar ("dabble" is the correct word - being hard of hearing doesn't help).

I've been members of the Presbyterian and Wesleyan Methodist Churches (most of the Presbyterian crowd I knew years ago now go to the Wesleyan Church on Queens Road at Everton Hills), and my wife is Baptist as stated, so I have some idea how Protestants think. No real Orthodox "sense" though unfortunately.

Anyway I'll wait till I hear from you if you're still interested in keeping up contact.
