Yeah it's chocolate. Have you ever mixed that with beer? I'm imagining gag reflex.
So why the worry that children will drink an expensive beer that is even more of an acquired taste?

Have you guys seriously never had a chocolate porter before? I'm not a big fan but they're a thing - and one of the better options if you want to make an ice cream float with beer.

Sorry if I drink beer it's an IPA seriously.

Chocolate porters are delicious. They aren't sweet which may be what you are thinking, but remember that chocolate isn't naturally sweet, but rather is sweetened.

The name, the picture (which is probably against the rules for me to post here), and the logo "why have just one!" See here.
Great logo. I have seen worse in my home town.

What does rejecting a sales license have to do with the act? Does drinking it make you one?

Slippery slope to [Latest Sexual Perversion] Beer. You know that NAMBLA* is waiting to see how this will go.

*Will that be a joke name for some San Francisco brewery?

While that would be in poor taste, why does it require to stop the sale of that beer?

I would disagree with the claim that they're not sweet. They can be (see: Duclaw's Sweet Baby Jesus), though "rich" is probably a more apt description.

I don't know if I'm just getting old or what, but my stomach can't handle those super-rich dark beers anymore, particularly the high ABV ones. They make me want to yak almost immediately.

I'm getting kind of bored with IPA's, too, since so many of them are virtually identical. The only way most guys seem to be able to distinguish themselves is by how much more hoppy they make the beer. I'm waiting for the day when "IPA" has morphed into a bottle of bathtub gin stuffed full of hops flowers.

I do like some of the pale ale variants - Dogfish Head's Pennsylvania Tuxedo is a particular favorite, though it's, unfortunately, seasonal.

And you have hit on why I can't drink IPAs. It's all about the hops and I don't like ultra hoppy beers.

Almost everything Dogfish Head makes is good. Speaking of high ABV, the 120 minute IPA! Very smooth, but I wouldn't want much.

The supreme court just allowed trademarks with offensive language in them. If polygamy porter wants to press the issue I think they would win.

Yeah, I can't drink much of the 120-minute anymore for much the same reason I can't do those heavy stouts & porters - it's just too much. I've been really liking the newly-reformulated Sam Adams Summer Ale - light, bright, doesn't sit heavy or get me hammered right off the bat if I'm drinking on an empty stomach. Flying Dog's Numero Uno is a pretty good one in that camp, too.

If you see the Pennsylvania Tuxedo anywhere, give it a shot. It's infused with spruce, so it's kinda weird at first, but it really grew on me.
