How is the citizenship question expected to do this?

I've already acknowledged that if illegal aliens were willing to break the law to get here, break the law while living here, then they would likely lie if they had a census from. I think the adults in America are just putting the enablers in the (D) party in the position to defend its historically inconsistent stance on unlawful residents mooching off of the American tax payer ahead of the 2020 election. A number of candidates made it clear that they would pay the healthcare cost for illegal immigrants.

Yeah, giving stuff to people you don't think deserve it is really a terrible thing to do.

Then we agree that the citizenship question does nothing.

I think <snip>

Thank you, but I got the relevant answer I was looking for.

Some people just don't deserve to live... first we dehumanize them, then we let them languish in the camps, then we use the power of the government to compile a registry of who and where they are, then we make villains out of those who sympathize with their plight...

You do realize they already get free healthcare here, just that they get it through the emergency room. If the US goes to a Universal coverage system, it makes sense, and is likely cheaper, to have illegal immigrants in the program that to have them using the emergency room for coverage.

Yes, they also work (income tax) free and use a number of other privileges that working Americans have has to pay for. Enabling them even more then they are now is not helpful to them or to the citizens that are forced to pay their bills. Go back and fix the problems in resource rich Central and south America.

A government that cant manage itself is incapable of managing a national healthcare system more efficiently and cheaper. They cant even fix our immigration, but there is a common "assumption" that political gridlock, dysfunction and corruption would "miraculously" mange healthcare!

A significant number of them are working here with false social security numbers and have money withheld from their paychecks which they will never see or be able to take advantage of.

If a nation is to be healthy then its more important to solve peoples personal problems rather than subsidize them.

I take it you'll be returning your tax cut, then?

That's why I said that they don't pay (income tax). Employers that are exploiting the cheep labor are complicit in the "wink & nod" fake SS number scheme, a practice which favors the illegal over an American citizen that could have that Job.

"They" can fix immigration because folks like your self have been parroting the GOP talking points on immigration for quite a few years --remember cries of "AMNESTY!"...and then later, "build the wall". Your comments on this thread demonstrate the problem: Refusal to acknowledge the real causes of illegal immigration -- US Employers and violence in Central America.

Meanwhile, the current occupant of the White House has profited from illegal labor and continues to exploit illegal immigrants for political gain.

Wake me up when the GOP is ready to enforce our employment laws 100 %,

If I got one why would I? I'm an America citizen who's paid a ton in tax over the years. Tax revenue continues to climb via increased business activity in response to cuts.

I've remained consistent, I disagreed with Reagans naïve amnesty knowing that the promise to then seal the border was hollow. We were right! Reagans amnesty was just a green light for another mass of illegal immigration and to sanctuaries hypocrites who deliberately undermine enforcement efforts.

Sanctuary cities do nothing to undermine enforcement of employment laws. Cooperation from local LEOs is not required.

Reagan granted amnesty to nearly 3 million people who entered the United States prior to 1982. Measures to crack down on illegal employment, however, were stripped from the bill....

How many millions more have illegally migrated while the conservatives of the last decade cry about amnesty over 3 million people (and at the same time, refuse to enforce employment laws)?

Which is why one of my major complaints, particularly with this administration, is that we aren't taking some of the best steps to curb illegal immigration. We need E-Verify to be mandatory with stiff fines for companies found to be hiring illegal aliens. If people who are here illegally can't get jobs then you'll quickly see fewer illegals -- both because many that are here will go home (since they can't afford to live here) and people will quit trying to come.

According to those links, corporate tax revenues have fallen since the tax cut - from $297B in FY2017 to $205B in FY2018. They're projected to rebound somewhat in FY2019 to $216B but that's still way down.

In inflation-adjusted terms, overall revenues shrank from FY2017 to FY2018, which means that despite the higher raw numbers, the federal government actually took in less money. The FY2019 revenue estimate is equivalent to the inflation-adjusted amount received in FY2017.

Additionally, the rate of inflation has been lower than the rate of GDP growth (revenues should track more closely to GDP than to inflation). There is no way to work the math to show that these tax cuts paid for themselves. They didn't. Meanwhile, the deficit increased significantly.

They pay taxes, they do not file a tax return.
