In my time with the Lord this morning He had me go to Ps 77 and pointed out something, then asked me to post it here. This section (Deeper Fellowship) is a very important part of this Forum.
What He talked to me about was how remembering the works that He has done for us will cause us to come into a deeper relationship with Him because it will again cause us to seek Him.
Ps 77:11 I shall remember the deeds of the Lord; surely I will remember Your wonder of old.
"Old" here doesn't need to be remembering the deeds in the Bible. He pointed out the first verse in the Chapter to me:
Ps 77:1 My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will hear me.
That is a current situation, and a current level of faith, not something of 'old'. So the faith the psalmist had was not that God did things long before they were around, but that God heard and would listen "Today". That type of faith is a result of hearing the Lord yourself and seeing the things He has done yourself!
The point is that we not only believe, because of the sacred writings, that God did things over 2,000, but we believe because we personally can 'remember' things that we had seen Him do!
Ps 77:6 I will remember my song in the night; I will meditate with my heart, and my spirit ponders
So again, we are not so much remembering the testimonies in the Bible and even what the psalmist of old wrote, but we are remembering our song, and our encounters with Him!
That will cause us to seek a closer relationship with Him!
