At the time, a local chapter of the NAACP said the Betsy Ross flag was being appropriated by some extremist groups opposed to diversity in the U.S.

So a local chapter of the NAACP said that some extremist groups were inappropriately using the Betsy Ross flag everyone else has to stop using it appropriately? Hogwash and bullpucky.
I object to left-wing extremists groups and individuals using the sign God gave Noah, the rainbow, as a symbol of their pro-diversity message.

They can always sell the shoes already made to North Korea.
The people of North Korea couldn’t afford them and, as I said, Nike doesn’t need the money. This is a drop in the bucket for them.

I don't support Nike because they pay Indonesian workers less than a dollar a day to make their shoes, and house them in obscenely filthy and dismal conditions no human being should ever live in. As a Christian, I cannot support that. American prisoners live better than Nike's overseas employees.
Goodbye Nike, hello Under Armour.

The co-founder of Nike, Bill Bowerman, was a social conservative. He was involved in persecuting the Rajneeshis, a progressive religious group from India, in Oregon in the early 80's.

Nike has no interest in politics unless it makes them money, that's the bottom line.

This is going to be a sensitive issue, so I'll tread carefully. Arizona Governor Douglas Ducey decided to withdraw all financial incentives provided to Nike, Inc., for withdrawing its Betsy Ross American flag sneakers. Governor Ducey chastised Nike for being ashamed of American history and heritage, and abandoning it. I'm sympathetic to the past and the fact that Nike creates jobs in AZ (I don't hold Nike). However, as a Republican sympathizer, I'll have to agree with Gov Ducey that Nike should have been proud of American heritage and not abandoned it. Nike, is after all an American company. What do you folks think?

I think we are at a pivotal point where people are saying... "I'm sick of you being offended".. Really, because I am offended by how easily people are offended and how much power these snow flakes have in controlling things..

I would of liked Niki to stand up and state that "this was our founding colony... suck it up".

Guess we should only object to people who are offended by different things than the things that offend us, eh?

The funny part about being offended is, we alone choose what we find offensive and what we do not... I don't get to decide for you what you should find offensive, and vis-versa... so if you are offended, it's by your own choice, and therefore your own fault, and not the fault of the "offender".

One man gathers what another man spills.....

That reminds me of the statues, etc, that were taken down because it was offensive to some. If They keep getting their feelings hurt we will have no history. IT IS OUR HISTORY YOU ARE DESTROYING. How will the future generations know about the past and what occurred for us if the people that get their little feelings hurt destroy our legacy. It makes me ill what they have done so far. Will they move to do away with the history of what the Jews died and suffered for? HITLER!

If we are willing to lose business over it by cutting the funding so be it.

It was on the news that a pair was put up for sale, probably Ebay, and sold for boo coo bucks, lol. Nike might not make any money on them but the consumer that buys them however they can, will.

Not really punished. Punished would be if they had to pay higher state taxes than other corporations. All the Arizona governor did was cut off the corporate welfare for Nike the state gives to bloated companies.

The mayor is standing her ground (the Nike plant would be in Goodyear, one of the suburb cities in the Phoenix metro area.

While I don't agree with Nike, I think it was an unwise move by the state's governor. Until now, Ducey has portrayed himself as a business friendly governor, staying out of identity politics....

...and note, the city incentive is still in place:
While Ducey pulled back on a $1 million state incentive offered to Nike, another $2 million in funding and fee waivers comes directly from the city.

Goodyear mayor stands ground on Nike deal after Gov. Ducey says Arizona 'doing fine without Nike'

Note that there are no statues of hitler and yet people still remember him. Why would you want statues of of bad people?

Well Hitler is quite the example of 'bad person' as he exterminated millions and started a war involving millions of other nations. There are reels of old film which later were transferred to video and uploaded to the internet for educational purposes. Probably because historians want people to remember what an evil dictatorship was like and who was behind it.

Yet that is even being called into question by You Tube:

YouTube blocks history teachers uploading archive videos of Hitler

Was Thomas Jefferson 'bad enough' to consider taking down his statue?

Remove the Statue of Thomas Jefferson from Campus

Was George Washington 'bad enough' to have his memorial taken down at the church he attended?

George Washington’s Virginia church taking down his memorial

Should any monuments to leaders or politicians who cheated on their wives, treated their family and others unkindly or any other transgressions be struck from history? If so then calls for FDR, all the Kennedys and Martin Luther King Jr. should be considered as well.

None of the founders or American heroes mentioned above were 'saints' and 'choir boys.' There's a reason for that...We are all flawed and sinful human beings. Those seeking out to remove from history people who were not perfect or far from it should look themselves in the mirror. We are all fallen.

I think you miss my point. Jefferson and Washington were good guys who did some bad things. Confederate “heroes” did nothing good for our country. They were traitors and fought to preserve slavery. We should not treat them like heroes.

Yet Washington and Jefferson actually owned slaves. The vast majority of the people fighting in the Confederate army did not.

Yet they fought specifically so that people could have the right to own slaves.

The Civil War was not fought just because of slavery (like some folks wish you to think) there were other issues (Reconstruction) that caused it to happen. And I'd bet quite a few men on both sides fought only because they were Drafted to fight for the North/South, I doubt slavery was much on their minds survival was the first order of business.
