12 years ago my husband and I moved into a large adult manufactured home park in the city. We bought a late 1970's (3 bedrooms, 2 bath) home and did much to fix it up ...now, my husband is gone two years (died) and the present owner of this large park was able to get it rezoned for commercial purposes. He can sell it anytime and if so all mobiles will have to be moved at a tremendous expense. However, the older ones cannot be moved so will be demolished. I just went through a heart operation and was hoping to sell and use the money to help me move into a senior community and eventually assisted living. I am 82 years old. Now that looks like I won't be able to. I also need my family who live near to help me in this and they are seemingly indifferent to this need. Please pray for me. Thanks.

Seems like they would have to pay you for your home if they want to demolish it.

I will pray for you and your family ...

Legally only $2000. It is worth more than $40,000. Thanks for the prayers.

I'd try to get some legal advice on this. There should be something available to you in the form of assistance for the elderly.

If things do go badly, consider crowd-funding assistance, like a GoFundMe page ...

Something sounds slick and sneaky about that. I would hope you and others there would consult a real good attorney, and I pray for that and that all turns out very well for you.

I am sorry that you have to face such a potential situation. I have been around mobile home communities that are on leased land and home owners have very few rights. Making matters worse, it sounds as though your state, does not allow older mobile homes to be moved. This reasoning comes from the idea that older homes are unsafe to move, not too mention it is expensive. Some owners even have to pay to have their mobile home demolished when land is repurposed, if they can not move it. Such information should be on your lease. God of course can intervene, including finding other ways to meet your housing and financial needs. You can try appeal to both the park owners and to local city officials, and they may delay or help you with alternatives too.

I agree with the others that you need to talk to a reputable housing attorney (who doesn't know the landowner or potential land purchasers, if any). Be sure to tell him what you wanted to do with the home and why. Some will do an hour of initial consultation at no charge. There are also organizations that provide free legal advice.

While the development owner might try to do everything legally, I think it still might be illegal for anyone to force you to move out of your home or force you to sell it. If they don't offer you $40,000, you might be able to just keep saying no. You might even have to get a restraining order against them if they become a nuisance. They might suggest all kinds of things that are going to happen if you don't sell, such as "the bulldozers are coming." But is it in such bad shape that the city has labeled it condemned (too dangerous for anyone to live there)? Even if the developer does everything properly, the law makes it very hard to actually force someone out of their home if they are not willing to leave. It may be very hard in your condition to persist in resisting him/them, but they may not be able to get the police or a judge to permit pushing you out, even if the land was sold.

I'm praying about your situation.

I agree with seeking a legal consultation or reaching out to any housing or civil rights group. Find out if your age or medical condition provides special consideration or assistance.

Consider putting this story out there on social media or contact local news station or paper. Sometimes social pressure will work wonders.
