The question, though, isn’t does God love us. It’s is there anything about us that deserves His love.The cross proves that God loves humankind lavishly, in spite of our sin.
Ok, and as I said earlier, no, there's nothing in us deserving of His love. Other than the worth that He finds in us anyway.The question, though, isn’t does God love us. It’s is there anything about us that deserves His love.
Is love something that needs to be deserved?for discussion
Is there anything in us or about us that make us deserving of the Father’s love?
Huh?tis in de serving that any worth is found.
Mkay.Well the Jews say God did say EVERY:
Genesis 1
29Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;
So there’s nothing deserving except that which is deserving.Ok, and as I said earlier, no, there's nothing in us deserving of His love. Other than the worth that He finds in us anyway.
God did make man a noble and dignified being, worthy of respect. Even if fallen man often lives a life worthy of hell, or acts in a manner lower than beasts. But God, having made us in His own image, still knows our potential better than we do, and seeks to draw that out of our corrupted state and into the light of day. He, alone, knows and determines our worth.
Good topic for a different thread.Is love something that needs to be deserved?
Jesus answered questions with questions, therefore: valid answer.Good topic for a different thread.
Okay. Still not on topic, though.Jesus answered questions with questions, therefore: valid answer.
There is the promise of reward in heaven for sacrificial service while here on earth. That implies a method of God’s calculations for deservedness.Huh?
Good point Michael. Did God come in the flesh as Jesus Christ of Nazareth seeking out only those who deserve His love? Or did He seek out everyone who will accept His love? I say He came to give all a deserving chance to be regenerated in Him through the Holy Spirit . To once again reconnect with our Creator which was once lost in the fall. We deserve that second chance and He has given that gift to those who are worthy.Is love something that needs to be deserved?
So our reward is us being deserving of His love? That’s what it sounds like you are saying.There is the promise of reward in heaven for sacrificial service while here on earth. That implies a method of God’s calculations for deservedness.

Why do we deserve that chance? What is it about us that makes us deserving?Good point Michael. Did God come in the flesh as Jesus Christ of Nazareth seeking out only those who deserve His love? Somehow it must be a deserving of reward. That’s all I’m saying. I’m not saying it’s of our own doing, but that service to Him is somehow calculated as being worthwhile or not.So our reward is us being deserving of His love? That’s what it sounds like you are saying.
It is He who suffered for the undeserving, the worthless and the broken. It is He that will answer your question of why we deserve what He did for us not any of us.Why do we deserve that chance? What is it about us that makes us deserving?
