Just as the title suggests, how did God reveal your spiritual gifts? How was it made clear that you indeed had these gifts?

This is something I've been praying on as I have no clue what my spiritual gifts may be, though I don't necessarily know if it's all that important to know as long as you walk in the direction the Holy Spirit pushes you to walk in. Regardless, I still am excited to see what God has in store for me and what He may use me for in this life! So what is He using you for?

If you could leave and verses and/or passages in regards to this topic, that'd be great!

I realised that I could manifest the gift of prophecy when I gave a word of encouragement and the person accepted as a prophetic word from God to him. I didn't have any sort of sensory experience. All I did was have the desire to encourage a fellow believer and so I decided to do it, and was surprised at how accurate and relevant it was to that person to the degree that they said that it was a word from God for him.

The other time was when I laid my hand on her hand on her arthritic knee, and it was healed. I felt nothing. If I felt anything it was nervousness because I was praying for my work supervisor. But the fact that she was healed showed me that I had manifested a gift of healing.

Therefore we can know we have manifested a gift of the Spirit when the results happen, and not from any type of sensory feeling in ourselves. People have said that they have received a prompting and goosebumps up their spine which they thought was a gift of healing, laid hands on the sick person, but no healing happened. This means that the sensory feeling was false and not from the Holy Spirit. If the person had manifested a gift of healing, then the result would have been that the person is healed on the spot.

I'm given news about things around the world, and later I see them on the news. It confirms the gift of revelation. 1 Corinthians 12:7-11

At times, when I have been playing music in church, people have come to me after the service and described my playing as anointed. When I'm playing live music, I'm not very confident, but some have described the sensitivity in which I play it helps them to worship.

That's awesome to see how God is using you brother. Thank you for sharing! I have gathered the same conclusion before, not by revelation in my own gifts, but by the knowledge of the Holy Spirit. It makes sense that it wouldn't be any form of sensory feelings within ourselves, as scripture never explicitly says such a thing and anyone who claims that's the case for them, should be approached with caution and testing. There's a lot of scary doctrines (some which I definitely believe to be doctrines of demons) in some churches as I think some people get too caught up in these "gifts" alone and lose sight of the One who grants gifts to those who follow and believe in Him.

Very cool! I know those are the most turned to verses when it comes to gifts, but do you know if there are anymore lurking within scripture? I just ask in case I may have missed something. Either way, thanks for sharing!

I definitely think God can use different mediums, such as music and other various forms of art, to reach and touch others. That's great to hear your music touches those in your church in such a way. I'll pray God continues to use you mightily and for perhaps even greater things!

You mean any more gifts of the spirit in scripture? I believe in others such as the interpretation of visions and dreams. That is a gift given to Joseph when he was led captive into Egypt. Genesis 40:8

Strangely one can receive prophecy and not understand it. You must seek God out for an understanding sometimes.

I receive visions and sometimes I have no idea what the Spirit is saying. But other times it's quite plain as to the meaning.

I always felt bad that I didn't seem to be blessed with any spiritual gifts. After sharing my feelings about this with a friend she laughed and began rattling off what she considered my gifts - helping with children, sharing my artistic talents, etc. This only made me feel worse because these sorts of things are not listed in the Bible as "spiritual" gifts. I didn't see that teaching children was a great "gift". Not long after that I received a letter in the mail (pre email!) from a different friend who "felt led" to tell me that she saw that I had administrative gifts. I wasn't exactly sure what that meant. A few years later all the adults in our church were given a spiritual gifts assessment during their Sunday school classes. This was an extensive questionnaire that took at least two Sundays to complete. The results showed my gifts were in teaching and leadership, as well as administration. It was up to me to find a way to use these gifts to serve God and glorify His kingdom.

1 Cor. 12:28 "And God has appointed the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues."

Administration: To steer the body toward the accomplishment of God-given goals and directives by planning, organizing, and supervising others

Haha, I can relate as far as being told what kind of gifts you may have or even, what you think you may be gifted in, but still having to deal with the underlying frustration of not knowing what God has specifically appointed for you. That's really inspiring to see how the pieces fell into place for you, so I thank you for sharing!

I trust in the Lord either way, so for now I'm just focusing on trying to spread the Good News and such. I have faith that one day the Lord will reveal to me what my gifts are, just as He has for you. And I'm sure when He does, He'll use me in much bigger ways to help advance His Kingdom here on earth.

He said ask the Father for the Holy Spirit and HE will give it.. I pray we did that already. Laying on of hands and praying for people the sweet sweet Holy Spirit WILL can use us with all the gifts here and there. But when you find something happens.. allot.. most the time. Something like that. Remember.. He is no light switch that we can turn off or on. He is ALWAYS ON! Have to believe.. FAITH!

There are times.. you just have this desire.. you can't shake it.. it wont leave.. it like burns in you. Just be open.. walk by faith. KNOW that He WILL use you.. and WILL show you. He said.. if you ask and you KNOW He hears you.. you KNOW you have the petitions you prayed/asked for.
