I am late to the party but I just saw it this morning. I absolutely loved it. It was very powerful and moving.

Just to cope the poor chubby kid went by “Skip.” And even with that he got atomic wedgies and dumpstered!!

Who in their right mind would name their son "Skipper". It must have been hell for him in primary school.

Over here in Oz that nick-name would have been typical of the lone Aussie kid in a school with a large migrant population, due to the popularity of the late 60's TV show, "Skippy the bush kangaroo". The migrants affectionately referred to the Aussies as "Skips".
In North 'murica, I suspect a skippy person would be associated with this;

Skippy? Perhaps. Fruity is more appropriate here :sorry:^_^

Iirc, "Skip" was for a brief time a preppy sort of name in the US - kids from well-to-do homes who would probably dress well and be in all the "right" activities.

It always seemed a more fitting name for a border collie or Shetland sheepdog to me.

I think Skipper on the Minnow was more a title - the captain of a nautical vessel?

Haha I think I'll start walking like that everywhere I go and see how people react. ^_^

(Not really. I'm not quite that unselfconscious yet. But one day I think I really am going to wear purple and be goofy.)
