am I to infer from that that you have no issue with it?

Tough love. A little pain now(Cold floors), or a lot latter.(Rioting, disease, Predation by other migrants on the young, strain on environmental resources in the USA or indeed Europe.)

If only the Democrats would stop blocking funding wonder what would happen...

They keep arguing it is cruel and unusual to even detain them so they refused to give any funding for beds and other necessities.

They keep creating situations just so they can blame them on other people, so they can act like the other people are the cruel ones.

stop blocking the funding to detain them and they would have the necessities they need. It is simple logic.

They haven't blocked funding for helping the migrants. They blocked the wall.

They passed funding today.

but one could argue that CHILDREN should not have to endure that kind of tough love. We are not talking adults who made poor decisions we are talking about children who frankly may not even understand the concept of tough love.

Yes, they shouldn't.

Since you acknowledge it is the culture. That means importing the legal conditions of those cultures. Spain for instance has a very corrupt legal system compared to the Anglo sphere cultures.
No, I am acknowledging it is the culture. Argentina, Chili and Peru are no different than England. Should all folks from the British Isles be treated as bad? Many of these folks are from Central America and stats show that they are not the ones committing crimes. Your comment about Spain makes me think there is a bias against Hispanics.

A family separation policy is bad political rhetoric. Given the facilities were built under Obama, why is making use of them bad. Kids obviously can be cruel to each other, adults far worse. Keeping adults with children confined is a worse situation, especially with the child abuse in Hispanic cultures.

Some of the facilities were built under Obama - but they were strictly used for older children who crossed all by themselves - not infants, tottlers and young children.

Why not, Red Cross Parcels were sent to POW's. If basic needs aren't being met, what's a few tooth brushes, bars of chocolate etc. Blankets pillows.
Would be nice, but that is not how it works here. The adminstration has to CARE about the children to let that happen if it can be worked out.

The Senate needs to pass it. There is no provision for the wall. It is meant for people. Will Donald sign it?

Your first sentence is paradoxical. Negative and Affirmative.

If all cultures are the same, I can't have a bias, for or against Hispanics.

Reply: Perhaps the border people care. Send them a delivery at the detention centre through Amazon.

I honestly haven't looked into that funding thank you for the heads up. Unfortunately there is probably a plethora of things they are trying to sneak in that they know Trump will not sign. that way they can get him in the gotcha moment, that is what they do.

that being said Trump has been trying to get this funding for years and has been blocked for years. Even in the thread on this forum where he was changing funds around to try to make sure he had enough assets to take care of these people it was obstructed. But as usual conveniently the blame is laid at his feet

The territory that they are travelling through is dangerous. The wild's of Argentina, Peru, Chile etc probably have very little in the way of crime. If their culture is to blame importing it into the USA will only make the problem worse
See, apparently the ones who weren’t fine with their society, chose to emmigrate from their country, because they’re the innocent ones in this.
Trying to criminalize children!? (If only they could stay fetuses forever!)

No, those who forcibly detained the children away from their parents and therefore took on their care need to pay for the supplies.

The actions taken by the Trump administration toward immigrant children will go down in history as a period of shame. It is unChristian, unkind and flat evil.

... And has already been attempted to be rationalized or excused twice in this thread by the time of your post.

It’s not bad what our country is doing to these kids because if they were anywhere else it’d be worse? AND it’s the best we decided that these children deserve!?

If places like San Francisco hand out hyperdermic needles to homeless drug addicted Americans, tooth brushes for foreign children is doable. And soap too. There are folks (homeless and otherwise) who live a soapless life, water is more the necessity going that route,

Make no mistake. This is being done intentionally in the hopes that it would act as a deterrent.

That seems unlikely...

They went without these things on the trip here. If it were a deterrent, they wouldn't come in the first place.

I think it's far more likely the congressional left wants to call this a Trump failure during election season. Otherwise, they would be making efforts to stop it now....and they're remarkably quiet.

This is disgusting!

Trump administration argues in court that detained migrant children don't need toothbrushes or soap and they can sleep on concrete floors

The Trump administration went to court this week to argue that migrant children detained at the United States-Mexico border do not require basic hygiene products like soap and toothbrushes in order to be in held in "safe and sanitary" conditions. Trump's team also argued that requiring minors to sleep on cold concrete floors in crowded cells with low temperatures similarly fulfilled that requirement.

Arguing in a 9th district San Francisco court about the conditions that they must hold migrant children in, the administration said that they did not violate a precedent set by a landmark 1985 class action lawsuit which established guidelines for the way minors held in federal immigration detention must be treated. ........

"Are you arguing seriously that you do not read the agreement as requiring you to do anything other than what I just described: cold all night long, lights on all night long, sleeping on concrete and you've got an aluminum foil blanket?" U.S. Circuit Judge William Fletcher asked Fabian. "I find that inconceivable that the government would say that that is safe and sanitary."

The three Federal judges seemed shocked at the administration's argument.

Denying basic needs and making the children sleep on a concrete floor with an aluminum blanket is child abuse, as I see it.

There have been 7 deaths, and even John Sanders, the acting commissioner of Customs and Border Protection said that another 4.6 billion was needed to prevent more deaths.

I find this to be evil.
What is congress doing to address the problem?

This can't be the first you're hearing about this...

Remember back in January when the president declared an emergency and everyone laughed? Remember when half the country wanted to build infrastructure to keep people out? Remember how these ideas were scoffed not only for their effectiveness but their lack of necessity?

Remember months ago when military, and all sorts of DHS agencies, and volunteers were called in and people called it unnecessary? Remember when mayors of border cities and governors were declaring states of emergency?? Yeah....everyone dismissed it. Well not everyone, but about half of the population.

Now you're concerned about it and trying to lay blame? Where were you when half the population wanted to stop this from happening???

Were you listening to all sides, looking at the facts, and deciding what was true??? Or were you just believing what you wanted to?

There's plenty of blame to go around....but it doesn't seem like it should fall on those who wanted to prevent this. If you aren't willing to put a stop to illegal immigration, you are allowing this catastrophe to happen.
