How can i get closer to god?

I think one basic way is for us to do our best in keeping the Lord’s commandments in living our daily life.

The Lord says if we love Him, we will do this. ( see John 14:15-17). If the rich young man had not assumed so much of himself, he would have realized the Lord had answered his question ( see Matthew 19:16-19). St. Paul reiterates the Lord’s commandments ( see Romans 13:8-10). The crowning glory of the Lord’s commandments is practicing charity ( Matthew 6:1-4) & praying for ourselves & our neighbor ( Matthew 6:5-15) as best we can.

Commit to Pray daily, if not already doing so. (I've only started this week.) "Give us this day our daily bread". Also possibly a good idea to use a KJV or GNV based transcription. The manner of the pray is important and the translation. I remember a "Good News" bible translation in primary school that used "forgive us our trespasses." Where as debts fits with the logic. Deliver us from the Evil "One", may also be more appropriate.

Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Pray, and get some quiet time alone with Him, daily. And, like Lukaris said, do your best to obey and live for Him, and the rest will follow.

If you have received the Holy Spirit then you're already close to God (John 14:16). If you haven't been baptized in the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:11) then receive Him now (Acts 19:2-6). Unconfessed sin can separate us from God (Joshua 7). Most of the time we don't consciously "feel" God but believe that He exists and walk by faith (Hebrews 11:27). Being in nature, solitude and prayer help (Matthew 14:23, Luke 6:12). God bless.

Go humbly before him and tell him all, every last thing in your heart, no matter what. Then ask him to fill you with his Holy Spirit to help you change.

Pray. Pray without ceasing. Have a constant conversation going with your Father. Remember it’s a conversation, you have to listen too. Read the Bible. The more we know Him, the closer we get. The closer we draw to Him the closer He draws to us. Lots of great free apps for Bibles. Love YouVersion. Just about every translation you can think of, audio Bibles, reading plans.

You have received good advice already and I'll also add fasting. Fast often, it will help you grow spiritually

Hi Jags, How would you describe your relationship with God? What do you do to maintain your walk with Him? Do you have daily conversations with Him? Are you reading the Bible daily, asking the Holy Spirit to bring it to life and to speak to you through it? Do you regularly worship God, telling Him how much you love Him, how great He is, how much you need Him? Do you submit every decision to His will and ask Him what He wants you to do in all things?
Have you removed every idol from your life?
These are all things that can bring you closer to God. He wants your undivided attention and when He has it, He will give you His.

Your title differs majorly from the content:-
"How can i get closer to god?"

Basicly how you 'feel' is irrelevent. for example is how you feel about being able to drive relevent or being part of a family.
In both of those you know the facts. Either you can legaly drive or you canb't, similarly you are either part of a family or you are not. ( yes quarrels etc can affect things )

You are a Christian, Jesus came from heaven, giving up his glory, splendor, authority, power in order to be a baby, a man to be brutally beaten and crucified. To die and rise from the dead to save you.

Do you really think your ' not feeling close to God' is more powerful than Jesus's love for you.

Read romans 8, can anything in ALL creation separte us from the Love of God.

Next time you 'feel' nothing about God research the details of crucifixtion and when you've stopped vomitting start praising God that he loves you enough to go through crucifixtion.
