The gospel is "believe in/on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved"...?

I ask these questions for witnessing purposes, I want to know how to go about it, what to ask people and tell people when witnessing in person, I don't know how, to put it shortly...

And one of the first things I would ask them is if "They believe on the Lord Jesus Christ" and that they need to believe on/in the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved, but, then what...?

I might ask them "Who do they say He is", and then maybe "How they have come to know or believe that"...

And I need to understand all the possibilities that come up with those kinds of questions and the right answers to them, ect... The in's and out's of them, ect... Before I will fell like I can witness, ect...

That's why I posted this...

Anybody care to comment...?

God Bless!
Do all of these "answers" or whatever, have to be the same, ect...? In order to be saved, ect...?

Confession, repentance and commitment to God/Christ or the Gospel is not necessary to receive eternal life...?

No those are acts done by a person. the only work stated that God requires is the work/obedience of belief.

God states you want eternal life then obey my command to believe in My Son.

Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

That is up to God to determine as they belong to Him, they are His creation.

And I would agree with that statement, but I need to know about witnessing and how to witness though, in person and person to person kind of thing and through the flow of conversation, kind of thing...?

Paul made it very clear that a love of the world is not compatible, with a love of the Lord. They are in direct conflict with one another.

So if they have any love of the world, or for the people in the world, at all, they are not saved...?

How many Christians would be aware of this paradigm?

Not many, probably...

That's the real issue in this modern era, far too many distractions, interests and temptations. I believe virtually everyone is struggling these days in prayer and church attendance.

Yes, I agree... But does one have to or must change that to be saved...?

God Bless!

God is not the author of confusion but of peace.

God is not in the business of fishing for answers but in speaking the truth in love.

And if Scripture isn't enough, then what else are you depending on? Man's wisdom or logic or reasoning?

John 6:56-69 Whoever feeds on my flesh & drinks my blood abides in me & I in him. As the living Father sent me & I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate & died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” Jesus said these things in the synagogue, as he taught at Capernaum.

60When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Do you take offense at this? Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit & life. But there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe & who it was who would betray him.) And he said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.”

66After this many of his disciples turned back & no longer walked with him. So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, TO WHO WILL WE GO? YOU HAVE THE WORDS OF ETERNAL LIFE & we have believed AND have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.”

I Cor 15:1-11 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the GOSPEL I PREACHED TO YOU, which you RECEIVED, in which you STAND & by which you are BEING SAVED, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—UNLESS you believed IN VAIN. For I delivered to you as of FIRST IMPORTANCE what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures,

4that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures & that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6Then he appeared to more than 500 brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.

9For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am & his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. Whether then it was I or they, so we preach & so you believed.

Romans 10:1-17 Brothers, my heart’s desire & prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but NOT according to knowledge. For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, & seeking to establish THEIR OWN, they did not SUBMIT to God’s righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

5For Moses writes about the righteousness that is based on the law, that the person who does the commandments shall live by them. But the righteousness based on faith says, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down) “or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth & in your heart” (that is, the WORD OF FAITH that we proclaim); because, if you CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH THAT JESUS IS LORD & BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, YOU WILL BE SAVED.

10For with the heart one believes & is justified & with the mouth one confesses & is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who CALL ON HIM. 13For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

14How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?c And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15And how are they to preach unless they are sent?

As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?”

17So faith comes BY hearing & hearing BY THE WORD OF GOD.

Your not going to be able to believe for someone. All you can do is tell a person that if they want eternal life then trust in Jesus the promised Messiah for eternal life.

Why trust in Jesus, because that is who God has sent to give eternal life.

Witnessing is simply telling people that above all that God loves them very deeply. In fact, God became one of us and suffered immensely in order to grant us immortality. That is a divine love for us that is beyond our human understanding.

We were told centuries before Jesus arrived
that He was going to visit us. We were even told where He would be born, where He would live and preach, e.t.c.

Then to firmly establish the fact that Jesus rose from the tomb and conquered death. We have Paul declaring that there were over five hundred witnesses of the risen Christ.

I believe that the testimony of the life and death of the Christ in the scripture, is seriously beyond any question, the truth.

God is so kind and caring for us that it cost Him dearly and God has ensured that everyone who really believes in Jesus will be saved.

Care to comment further...?

Again, I am asking these things for practical face to face one on one and in person "witnessing" is all, not to just only frustrate you guys on here to no end, or for no good reason kind of thing, OK...?

God Bless!

So you don't have to have the right theology or faith belief...?

God Bless!

I do not know, are you not reading what i have written. These question are not making sense.

I have stated that if a person wants eternal life then that person must trust in Jesus (the promised Messiah) for eternal life.

Not sure what the right theology is, receiving eternal life has nothing to do with theology.

Again the object of a person faith is Jesus.

It is not so much knowing as believing.

There are some fundamental doctrines in Christianity but not many.

The bottom line is believing and walking within the guidance of the Holy Spirit. God will let you know anything that you need to know, just knock, ask.

In the end it is painfully simple.

Anyhow, is that "all", or what...?

God Bless!

It's a shame the way people manage to twist the word of God to the point people may not even understand what believe means anymore. I think the understanding comes naturally to those who have Gods word written in their hearts but at the same time, even if it is written there the world can make us doubt, so I mean no offense towards the OP. It's so simple, some have to work hard at not knowing what it means, and they do.

Some don't even have to think twice that it means.. believe on him, in him and "believe him", as in believe what he says, try to do what he does. He's our mentor. Yes, there are folks that say we don't need anything but to "say" we believe, and they use such a watered down version of the term, it means little or nothing. Meaning they need not concern themselves with sin, something Christ is very much against. i mean If one believes in Christ, won't they try to mimic him, a lot like we see a child trying to mimic their parent? Ans if they do try to be like him, they will see right off, Christ is all bout not sinning.

And of course i don't mean we will stop sin completely but at least we won't live a life of sin just as we did before we believed. We don't plan on sinning, and it's no longer an acceptable thing in our lives. We strive to do away with it as much as possible. Any sin along the way, Jesus will gladly forgive because he can see we are sincere, just exactly as a parent would their child.

IOW, be obedient. And no, obedience is not working our way to heaven. We cannot work our way in, but we can work our way out of it by tossing the true meaning of belief just so we can do what suits us, and not God.

The gospel is "believe in/on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved"...?

And that's it, that's the good news, however, questions come up, like "believe how" for one, maybe even "believe what" (about or with Jesus Christ) for another, and do we all have to believe or all believe the exact same thing when it comes to Jesus or God, or in having our Christian beliefs about God or whatever, do they have to be the same, or, can they be different?

Then, some will say if you are truly one of His, that confession and repentance must be involved or is a part of the deal as well, and they would be right, mostly or for the most part. We all pretty much agree and there is not much disagreement about the "confession" and confessing part, but, we get hung up and argue quite a bit and there is a lot of disagreement about the whole repentance and repenting part.

So can we resolve these issues or discuss them maybe....?

Is our salvation dependent upon right (or wrong) believing or not...? Or our (confession and) repentance or our being "repentant" in and throughout our lives, and which one is it, if it is...?

Comments...?

God Bless!
It is not enough to simply believe in Jesus because "You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that - and shudder." (James 2:19). However, "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9). See the difference? It is not enough to believe in Jesus. Rather, you must believe and confess that He is Lord. If one truly believes that Jesus is Lord, they WILL submit to His Lordship by "dying to self". If one claims to believe in Jesus yet refuse to "die to self", "carry their cross", and regard Jesus as Lord in their lives, they are still in rebellion against God with a false sense of security.

Yes, and what are those, and are they necessary...?

Yes, the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit, in the moment is important, but so is knowing the truth as well, as He is the Holy Spirit of truth...

In the end it is painfully simple.

Simple maybe, but elusive and not commonly fully understood, or believed in by all or many unfortunately...

God Bless!

And what does it mean and what is entailed in "truly believing in Jesus"...? You say, to know that He loves us and fully believe He rose from the dead, was resurrected, ect, and I'm assuming went to heaven also, right...?

Anyhow, is that "all", or what...?

God Bless!
Paul told us.

Romans 10:8-11
That is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.”

Don't you have to know Him to believe in Him, otherwise you could be following a false God, or believing in a false belief or theology, correct...?

Let me put it another way, "Who do you say He is"...?

And then "how do you, or how much do you believe in Him", as well...? if you are or do or are truly believing in Him, to begin with, ect...

God Bless!

Yes, I do know scripture you know, and that is the gospel, but then one asks, what about confession and repentance for the remission or forgiveness of sins, or to be saved, ect...

God Bless!

It is not enough to simply believe in Jesus because "You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that - and shudder." (James 2:19).
Not sure how this relates to the gospel.
However, "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9).
The gospel.
Dying to self interest and self obsession is something that is done daily. Not sure that there would be too many Christians that would die to self preoccupation daily. That would crucify themselves to all worldly interests on a daily basis.

Yet the business of salvation is God's domain and we can only witness to that profound love of God in Jesus Christ.
