Want to ready an incredible scripture? Listen to this amazing verse.

"...... who has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of light."

A lot of people talk about dying to self, but they have no plan, no tactic, and nothing tangible to actually do because, God help us, we do not want to err by working for our salvation, right? So we settle in for the passage of time, reasoning that when God is ready, He will free us. And guess what never happens? LOL. We need to ponder this long and hard. God is ALWAYS ready to bring us higher. ALWAYS. But He wants to be our all-in-all. He does not brook rivals well.

Look, let us finally face it. We cannot die to self. Period. But ahhhhh, we CAN reckon it already dead. This takes faith but hey, get used to it, our God has much bigger things for us to believe! Stepping into our new nature is the true beginning of our being changed into His glory.

Either we are still in our old nature with a traitor lurking inside us, walking with a double mind, which James likens to cheating on God, OR we really did die when Christ died and we really are already new creatures. And rhere is but one reason that it had not yet profited us.... and our newness not expressed.... because we have never come into agreement with our God and believed what He plainly has declared to us. We ARE dead. It is time we reckoned it to be true, because it is the starter switch to our actually displaying Him in us rather than us.

Yes, we need to yield ourselves to God. After all, He OWNS us. and here we find the major road block to people fully yielding to His hand. They see still from 'old man'eyes and think if they yield, it will be painful and harsh, with no joy, no freedom.

Boy, has satan got us buffalo'ed or what? Here we all are, lukewarm, passionless and empty, living life for US, and yet God promises us joy unspeakable, glorious liberty, and power to walk with satan under our feet. How many secretly think of God as if He is some hard task master, wanting to reap where he first did not sow.

Is it a coincidence that this was the mindset of the unprofitable servant? Need we be reminded that what was given to Him was taken away and given to another? We ought to be shaking in our boots. Instead we just start looking for a nicer pair of boots. ☺️

Yes, we must yield ourselves to the one who owns us, but far more important is HOW we yield ourselves to Him. We think it more humble is we approach Him as sinful worms, not worthy of anything from Him.

But that is not humility. It is inverse pride, because we still get to keep our eyes on us. Paul tells us to yield ourselves to God "as those who are alive from the dead". When we finally decide to believe He really is the God who cannot lie, oh, what adventures we will have!

Blessings,

Gids

When do we finally just believe our God?

For many, it is when we learn that Christ is all we need.

What an excellent quote. We can either wait for our God to lovingly strip us of all we possess, or we can truly honor Him by willingly letting go of all our pearls, trusting that what God has for us, not just in Heaven but also in THIS life, is far far better. Our choice but one is a far better choice. Trust me,. ☺️

Its really quite simple(not easy), lay it all down, and He will lift you up. Lift you up to walk in the heavenly places. If it is faith that pleases The Lord, and it is, how much delight He has in us when we say(By faith) here Lord, here are the keys to my life, do with me as you wish. The early church did it, and we see and hear what He did through them. It is no different today. The Harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.

Gideon ... You live in negative world just enjoy the truth that Jesus paid for all of your sins on the cross and then you will be in the light. Think of how the first Christians had to keep the faith and all they had is what St Paul, St Peter, St John or the other Saints had to say to encourage them not to give up. They were crucified, burned at the stake in Nero's garden, skinned alive, denied the Temple of the market place and still they kept the faith. Stay positive don't let the devil deceive you. Your better than that

"After all, He OWNS us". Not really sure how you believe that. God treats each unique. Well I know what the word says.. but I have never felt owned or a slave or servant. The Great I am..my GOD.. yet He is my Father.. Christ.. my friend.. my brother.. my savior.. my God. The sweet sweet Holy Spirit.. I am ONE with Christ.. a joint heir.

Since I was born I have never ever liked being told what I cant do. My mom said when I was 4-5.. my dad told me "you can't pick that up".. said I went over and picked it up. In Christ.. there is NOTHING I can't do. If HE said it.. we can do it.. no matter what it is. I agree with allot you said. But with GOD.. all things are possible. "Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” This is how I look at everything and anything.. I truly do. Christ is IN ME.. He is up front.. and .. there is NOTHING I can not do. And.. when its all over.. it was ALL HIM and to HIM all the glory and praise. We can die to self..this flesh has not changed..but we don't have to obey it. Its no longer I that sin but sin that is in me. To him that over comes..

I am curious if anyone has done the Acts thing? Being they have given all they own and have all things in common? Are you possession free?
We had Christian "commune" back in the early 70s at the height of the "Jesus movement" and we approached that goal. Alas we were all young and inexperienced and had no elders to lead us or support us. We fell apart and eventually the place crumbled. But there was an excellent spirit there. And great times.
I am curious if anyone else ever attempted this.

Yes, truth! Our old man died and the new man is joined to Christ, good and holy. We no longer have to try and get rid of self because it’s a new self joined to Christ. What joy when that is understood! Thank you for your post!

Where do I get the idea that our God owns us? Well, the Bible, of course! LOL.

Are we not told that we are not our own, we are bought with a price? Here is the problem with our modern take on following God. We are like the prodigal son. Oh, we are His sons and daughters, just as he was. But he wanted to enjoy life his way yet continue to enjoy all the benefits of sonship except one... rhe presence pf the Father.. A hard lesson was in his future, wasn't it?

And when he learned it, that you cannot live for yourself and truly enjoy what God has purchased for us at the same time, what a day of revelation that is.

What did the prodigal do to arrive at that full surrender to His service and His care? He finally arrived at the blessed place where he hated his own life, his own will, his own ownership. So, broken and humbled, he went back to his father and told him "I have sinned against you and am not worthy of being called your son. Let me be a servant only."

That was the day he finally understood that we will always serve someone or something.... God or self. But.... we cannot serve both.

Like the prodigal, we to have a hard lesson in our future, for we must learn that to live with Him , to abide in Him, we must surrender ALL we have, all we are. . That is when we get back ALL... all He has, all He is. A fatted calf awaits each one of us, and the day we finally 'come to ourselves' as the prodigal did, we will finally enter the rest God purchased for us.

For generations.... nineteen hundred years worth, we as His people have pretty much been taught an incomplete gospel, and thus experienced incomplete results. We love forgiveness, but as to seeking God fpr heart purity? That road is the road seldom traveled, isn't it? And God has up til now overlooked much of our error, for there was no light to truly understand how to walk in holiness as servants to righteousness.

But in this generation, all that is about to change. We are about to be awakened to the truth of who we are.... new creatures....and have our folly exposed for its shallowness. We are even now entering the valley of decision and for each one of us, a choice will... WILL... be required.

Whom wil we serve.... us or Him? And then it will again be fulfilled that he who loses his life for Jesus' sake will find it. My prayer is that all are fully prepared to make that choice, no matter the cost.

blessings,

Gideon

Here is a thought Or interpretation about why the early church sold all their possessions and had all things common since that practice did die out and there’s nothing in the apostles writings where they directed people to do that. It was because they were expecting Christ to return and set up his kingdom on earth in their lifetime, and they were preparing for the tribulation period to come before He would do that. It was before the full revelation of the church age was given. They were simply expecting the end times as prophesied to them in the old testament the tribulation and then Christ’s return. I can see that interpretation especially if you look at Peter’s first sermon In Acts 2:15-21.

I agree with a lot of what you say brother but not the dying to self.

Luke 9:23-24 And He said to them , if any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross dairly, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it, but whosoever will lose his life for my sake , the same shall save it.

Scripture says we are to deny ourselves. The old man who is to be seen as dead is not the self. I am afraid that it is a new age idea that self must die.

I also do not agree that this is the first time since the begining that the truth is going to be heard. What about the holiness revivals. Were they not presching your message? Thanks.

I agree with you we do not need to die to self or kill ourself. Our old self, The old man died with Christ on the cross. He was buried and we were raised The new man/new creation. We are joined with Christ, A new good holy self with a new heart. So why would we die to self when it’s new, God’s workmanship joined and led by Christ? Now there is a renewing of the mind God’s spirit does. Some of our old ways of doing things, the flesh doesn’t always change really quickly. But we do change and we are transformed as we trust him. Those old behaviors of the old man need to die and they do as we reckon/account the old man dead. His old ways no longer fit with the new self. It is a process, sometimes a long one but God is patient with us. Another way I’ve heard of understanding Christ’s words where he tells us to take up our cross and follow him is this. Christ carried his cross to Calvary and died. We follow him to Calvary and die as well on the cross. But the work is his. Our work is to trust in him and believe it, And present ourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to him which is our reasonable service or worship. Rom 12:1. And it’s Worship in the sense that we believe and trust that he has made us holy and acceptable and our life is his to work in and do His good work.
