As Donald heads to Orlando to officially kick off his 2020 campaign, the Orlando Sentinel makes it clear they do not endorse him.

Our Orlando Sentinel endorsement for president in 2020: Not Donald Trump | Editorial

Donald Trump is in Orlando to announce the kickoff of his re-election campaign.

We’re here to announce our endorsement for president in 2020, or, at least, who we’re not endorsing: Donald Trump.

Some readers will wonder how we could possibly eliminate a candidate so far before an election, and before knowing the identity of his opponent.

Because there’s no point pretending we would ever recommend that readers vote for Trump.

After 2½ years we’ve seen enough.

Enough of the chaos, the division, the schoolyard insults, the self-aggrandizement, the corruption, and especially the lies.

So many lies — from white lies to whoppers — told out of ignorance, laziness, recklessness, expediency or opportunity.

Trump’s capacity for lying isn’t the surprise here, though the frequency is.

It’s the tolerance so many Americans have for it.

There was a time when even a single lie — a phony college degree, a bogus work history — would doom a politician’s career.

They've got a point that it's not just Donald's constant lies, the 10,000+ since he entered office including stupid conspiracy theories like windmills causing cancer, but America's tolerance for it that's the real problem.

I'm sure his base will use this to victimize their Donald, say the liberal media is being so mean to him. Lol. No, they're right that he uses middle school taunts & tactics, and it's pathetic to not stand up to that. They'll probably say who cares, though right-wing coverage of it shows they do care.

If — however unlikely — a Republican like Romney, now a senator from Utah, or former Ohio Gov. John Kasich successfully primaried the president, we would eagerly give them a look. Same if an independent candidate mounted a legitimate campaign.

We’d even consider backing Trump if, say, he found the proverbial cure for cancer or — about as likely — changed the essence of who he is (he won’t).

The nation must endure another 1½ years of Trump. But it needn’t suffer another four beyond that.

We can do better. We have to do better.

I'm praying Kasich or Romney will primary Donald. The Sentinel is right that we have to do better than Donald.

I'm from Orlando... Who reads the Sentinel?

There were like maybe... maybe 70 people protesting at the dr phillips center and one club/bar is hosting them, but the downtown area is hopping right now with Trump supporters.

Fail....

Meanwhile... the Sunrail (our 'metro') had to put extra trains on the tracks to move all the Trumpians.

Win....

Almost every paper in the country was against him in 2016, but his hardcore supporters don't read them.

I'm afraid to listen to Trump's fractured phrases too long myself. I'm afraid they'll turn my brain to mush.

Would you feed your body on empty calories? Then how can you feed your mind on empty promises?

I suspect many of Donald's hardcore supporters only read his Tweets for their "news." Lol.

Print news is so 19th century, Trump supporters live in the here and now, the 21st century.
I hardly call denying climate change and following an economic policy--trickle down--which promotes income inequality and has never succeeded, "living in the 21st century."
Denying climate change will make it out last century on earth.
All forms of media across the world oppose Trump, except perhaps Pravda, representing the nations to is trying to destroy our democracy and hack our elections.

Hearing Trump talk for more than 10 seconds physically hurts. It's a combination how stupid the things he says are and what a terrible speaker he is.

Try reading a transcript of one of his speeches. It’s horrible. It’s like a dumping of all of the thoughts in his head but it has no structure to support the message he is trying to get across.

How hard is it to say, “I’m Great, look at the numbers for the economy!, Greatest President ever, or what?”, over and over again?

He has some pretty good speech writers, a lot better than the last guy.

He's a 72 year old man with the intellectual speech level of a fourth-grader and his spelling blunders have become an international joke. I'm not sure we can honestly expect anything better from him.

Seems like an extraneous "them" is included in that sentence.

But Trump's is the nourishing rhetoric of PATRIOTISM. It tastes as good goin' down as comin' up!

In text analytics this is called a "bag of words". Perhaps Trump is working on a much higher level than all of us and he's actually putting out an AMAZINGLY detailed and brilliant commentary...it's just up to US to put the words in the right order and pare out the "low value" words. Trump is playing 3Dimension chess with all of us. We are just too dumb to realize it!

Yeah, but the “Resistance” does have a tendency to leap on EVERY misspelling, and he knows it...so we get the “Prince of Whales” and another round of “hurr-durr, the man’s an idiot!”
Rinse
Repeat.
It’s petty stuff, yes it might show evidence of cognitive impairment, But we got on okay ‘86-‘89 when Saint Ronnie started showing his decline.

"It tastes as good goin down as comin up" is usually used in reference to vomit. So sure, that makes perfect sense to use that in reference to Donald's "nourishing" rhetoric of "patriotism." The body will sometimes vomit up what's rotten, spoiled, toxic, as a way of protecting itself. Food that can look nourishing, be all sugar coated & tasty, can be poisonous.

Donald has racked up thousands of falsehoods, racked up more in Orlando. It's not "flaming" him to state that fact, it's documented. He's brazen about it, knowing darn well that folks will swallow it up. On account of him, some of the most important roles for leading our country aren't filled. This is not patriotic. It's chaotic.
